What we really need is a company that allows for special order Bibles, where you can pick and choose your binding type, books in specific translations, and added books. For example, I mainly use ESV, but for OT I use Septuagint which is the Oldest OT Bible. I would love to order Bible that has the Septuagint LXX OT and then the ESV NT, and add in selected books like Enoch, Jasher and Jubilees that were endorsed and quoted by authors of the Bible. Seems like a lot of the main Bible companies don't like doing projects like that.
I just love you brother, omg so funny. I love your spirit, your passion and your honest feedback. I am addicted to journaling bibles so I really enjoy watching your videos when I have to decide. I recently received a small print, ESV journaling Bible and I’m loving it! Having hardly any notes allow me to reflect on what I’m reading because I don’t instantly have a theologian telling me what they believe it means. Will certainly look into these large print ones. Thanks!
Hey Jason great video! If I may interject one small point, the flap leather cover is actually originally designed for putting the bible in a pack and having it with you on a camp out or hike. As a writer I utilize writing journals with same kind of cover a good deal of the time. So that bible would be a perfect packing bible. Just a thought. Keep Lookin Up!
The one nice thing about the flap is if you have anything stuffed between the pages…the flap prevents you from losing them! I tend to have notes/messages on paper that slip out, so the flap is ESSENTIAL for me!

If you're looking for more of a premium edition, they now have it in a buffalo leather brown on ChristianBook. It has raised hubs on the spine. I just recently bought the Mocha edition. Thanks for your reviews Jason.

Thank you for these review videos. I just purchased this bible today! I just wish it came in teal or black like the single column journaling bible in the smaller font. I can always change the cover later on. I bought the tru tone in dark brown. Can’t wait to get it in the mail👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
I just bought this bible for a specific project, I am preparing to hand write the Bible and am using this large print journaling bible to make notations on the project. I also use the regular sized one for my normal study/church/small group note taking bible. While I like this large print version I have been spoiled by the size of my regular one and find it a little too large for carrying around considering it is a soft cover.

A suede shoe brush will remove your little tags. Shoe save will help your very tiny scar. I love my flapper because it holds it all including attaching my pens. The first abuse or scrape made me crazy but now it's like a best friend or an old purse.
I own the crossway large print and smaller print. I love the flap and as you use it the little leather fuzz balls disappears and it really starts to look great. I bought mine 2 years ago. The smaller print ESV I gave to my son in law cause the print was to small for me!!

I have that exact leather wrap Bible I bought it almost two years ago it's been around for awhile. I like how the wrap protects the pages when in my backpack. I use the strap as book markers. coolest Bible I have. Also it breaks in like a baseball glove over a period of time. It's a classic for me.

Perfect timing. Was going to order the sgle column 7.5 font until I saw this. This will be used as I go through Tara-Leigh Cobble's read the Bible in a year "Bible Recap".
I would STRONGLY encourage you to do the tear up your bible reading plan instead. (But we love Tara)

The nubbins off the natural leather go away with use. I like to carry it in my backpack. I don't worry as much about it getting totally messed up ! Love your Bible Reviews and have many of the same complaints. Have a new Trutone Lg Print Single column on it's way ! I'm a Grandma and my eyes aren't what they used to be ! Lol ! Love your video's!!
Hi Jason! I just found your channel last week and, I know this is an old video but I just recently ordered a Crossway large print ESV single column journaling Bible. In fact it just came in about 20 minutes ago. I also got Mr.Pen highlighters and Bible pens after watching this video. I went back and forth between the one I bought (true-tone burgundy/red timeless) and the natural leather with the flap in this video (wow that’s a mouthful lol). I also went over to tearupyourbible and downloaded the reading plan. I also watched some of your other videos about your daily Bible reading and study routine. I have to say I didn’t think that I would find a video like this on RUclips but, I’m so glad that I did! I didn’t know that anyone made a such thing as a journaling Bible. I have seen people highlight passages in their Bibles since I was a kid and my mom used to write in the tiny margins in hers. When I found this video I knew this was a good sign to me. The Lord is and will in the future continue to bless you!

I have the leather esv with the flap bible. Mink oil over the leather will take care of your smudge and your flakes on the tie. I used a ribbon for a closure because well I like the look.
Great review! You can always remove the strap and tuck the flap behind the last page so it is out of the way. Love that they got rid of the "heavy" lines too!

I have large print ESV journaling bible! It took some getting used to cause I have a true large print so the font was a little small. But now I love it!

SOO happy you did this review! I bought my other journaling bible (crossway) and did not get the large print, which I really need, because of the lines being so dark. This will be my birthday present to myself! I love studying my bible marking it up and not using a separate notebook. Thank you.
I have the ESV journaling bible! It is amazing and I love it. Single column for me is the way to go since it is easier to read. I would LOVE this Bible in super high quality. I will probably have to get this large print version at some point, but I still have so much room in my current one lol.
How cream color are the pages, and is the ink consistently dark throughout the Bible?
I bought the esv double column leather one. It is a smaller font but I stare at a screen so my eyes have adjusted to it and I've taken it to church easy to carry. I personally love it 😍 I've thought about the single column esv cause it's a little bigger font but man the prices. Although I paid like 36 bucks but 😭 that was a discount on christianbook.com ... You might wanna try christian book for the one you looking for.

Glad that you got one. It’s a neat Bible. I am told that the mess it makes goes away after some time.
Of course it does-for the most part. I own the interleaved one and love it. And the "mess"just makes it twice as much a LIVING Bible 😑, so it never bothered me. I love the feel of this leather - please don't cut it! 😱 The flap/strap are what make these bibles great! If you don't want them don't buy them!
I don't know if you're into study bibles or not but you should do a review on crossway's esv heirloom study bible.

I'm blind as a bat in the sunshine. And always thought the large print was the one. It's NOT 👎🏻It weighs like 3 lbs and its huge. I'll squint with the regular Bible for it to be more portable and not so heavy. Just me though 😌
I have a large print value thinline trutone and content with it and marking it, less than Php1k. Loving your reviews, hoping I can have those someday..
Question: How good of a quality of the paper on these bibles for long term ownership? Is this a Bible that you’ll be owning for 50 years with regular use, taking notes and such? Will the paper itself deteriorate over time, or is it a good quality paper that will hold up?

I am guessing that by one of the premier Bible reviewers you mean Bible Believing Christian ? She does wonderful reviews and is just a super nice lady too. I bought this one based on her review and use it all the time and the little leather bits that it leaves gets better as you use it. I like the tru-tone one you have there too. Very nice. I’d love to see your note taking method up closer so my aging eyes could see it. I’m wanting to come up with a system and yours looks intriguing.

God's Grace to you and thank you for this ministry. I have been searching all over for a GIANT PRINT SINGLE COLUMN JOURNALING BIBLE IN AN ESV FORMAT. I have reviewed each of your above Bibles and it appears that they are in a 9 or 9.5 print size. Your review (above) gave me the impression that the print size was GIANT but my wife said that you claim it to be 9 pt print. I have both a hearing problem and a vision problem. Can you help me to locate what I need? I have a very small layman's Bible study on You Tube and need help in my studies. God Bless. Jimmy Pepe

Hi Jason, my dream was for cambridge or crossway to release a clarion, but instead of the cross references, empty space for notes. That way it would be portable, have incredibly large size font, and would be wrapped in a beautiful goatskin...alas 😭
I also wanted a large print journaling ESV bible and didn’t purchase it for the same reasons you stated. I use art in my journaling bible and the lines were way too dark.
Or you could fold the flap against the inside cover, glue or sew the top and bottom edge, and use it for papers.

Thanks a bunch for the info, it really answered a lot of my questions about the large print verse regular and the inner margins... Ok all of the important parts, size, fold over, layflat, and cover feel. I am so glad I am not the only one who is a visually and textile Bible specific. I finally found one that I loved and someone stole it... I'm not joking... lol. Who steals a Bible?? Anyway, I just cannot not found one that I can get into because I am wanting to purchase a good large print ESV study/journaling Bible.
I really like your review and it has helped narrowed down a few. But the big question is, does it have the red letters?

Oh my gosh!!!! I bought the flap Bible and after one week I cut the flap off! It drove me nuts! And the leather snowflakes really irritated me. After a month, I quit using it. ☹️
I have one I'm using it's the regular print. The only issue I have is there aren't anny cross references in the OT

Excellent video!!! I'm currently trying to decide between the ESV Large Print Journaling Bible, the ESV Large Print Bible, and the ESV Large Print Wide Margin Bible. Obviously you recommend the Journaling Bible. Does the ESV Large Print Journaling Bible have the same type/style of font (I know it's smaller, even though both are "large" font) as the ESV Large Print Wide Margin Bible? Again, incredible videos!!!
That I can't say... but I'm almost 100% sure that the typeface is the same in all the bibles. I cannot speak to the font size between those two Bibles.

A website states that the Large Print Wide Margin has 11 point Lexicon type while the Large Print Journaling has 9.5 point font but it doesn't say what type. I just took a shot that you might know. Again, thank you for this review! I've never been one who writes in my Bible, but am looking forward to starting to do so! Your videos regarding journaling in the Bible are going to be a large part of getting me off to a great start! Thank you!!!

I wiiiiiiiiish Crossway would make this Bible with references and footnotes. They so badly need to make a better range of large print reference Bibles.
The regular wide margin font size is 7.5..... tiny... The large print font is 9.5.... cheers

Great review! I'm a Norwegian fan of your journaling bible and pen reviews! You briefly mention that the margins might be wider in this than the standard single column journaling bible. That's interesting, because I remember you said in an earlier review of the previous version of this in large print that it had more narrow margins than the standard print. So they went opposite for this?

I wish you went over page thinness, how writing with any kind of implement seems to bleed/ghost to the other side...We're supposed to WRITE in it...why make the pages so thin?
I wish the white customizable cover one came in large print. I've been using an niv journaling one with 9.5 print and going down to 7.5 esv feels like it's made for ants. 😂 It's hard to find plainish but kinda feminine looking hardback or cloth board large prints single columns.
Is the Trutone also called Imitation Leather or should I specifically look for Trutone name?

Probably bonded. But... don't worry about it lasting long... it will last a few years and you can have it rebound if you need to.

What’s the difference between nov and esv? Have you-if you haven’t would you- made a video about what the difference in versions are. I have a NIV and I know about the KJV but is it the method of translation? I would love to know the difference and your opinion on the difference on main versions

I don't do those...BUT... YES, it's what I use every day. It's a great words:margin ratio. I've been really happy with it.
