Looked forward to this video all week. Great video! I got a copy of the black TrueTone this morning. As you said, it's striking the way they somehow managed to maintain the reading experience while using cheaper paper, but I'm pretty disappointed with the TruTone cover and the rest of the construction. When I pick it up, it makes complete sense that it costs only $35. To me it almost feels cheaper than that price-point. For those that don't care about aesthetics of construction and feel, this Bible will, however, provide a great reading experience. While I don't think I would recommend the TrueTone edition, the goatskin heirloom is, I think, my absolute favorite Bible (hard to pick a true favorite with the Omega and PSQ to compete with). Other note: The black TrueTone has gold printing on the spine, but that doesn't match the picture on its box, which shows the spine blind stamped.
UPDATE: I re-purchased this Bible with a new mindset. I have come to love my heirloom Heritage so much that I wanted a cheap copy to take to the beach, by the pool, to a restaurant, or to a park. I wanted one that I could treat light a trade paperback, and I love this edition for this purpose.

Definitely picking this up for the price! I have switched my preaching to the CSB (youth pastor) because we have a lot of younger youth and a lot that did not grow up in a church setting but this would be a great budget esv to read along for sermon prep and devotion time!

Deluxe luxury Bibles are so beautiful. BUT …
I bought my NASB Bible in 1974 or 1975. Fake leather cover. It was very inexpensive (even for back then) because it was what I could afford. I only recovered it last year when the cover finally began coming apart and the edges of the heavier paper pages inside the cover began flaking off. And this Bible has been used constantly. So less expensive Bibles are not as luxurious but they do the job just as well.
I hope, people don’t go into debt buying a Bible they crave to have that they don’t need. That would be kind of ironic, wouldn’t it?

I think it is important to have a significant time spent with reviewing affordable editions. It gives your listeners options and comparisons. I love my premium Bibles, no doubt. Once I had the three I sought then I don’t want to gather more. It is nice to have options. It is nice to work through a Bible a year, taking notes and highlights, and starting again the next year. It is not something I do with a premium.

I have the original Heritage with the 2011 text. It's foot print is smaller because the margins are smaller. Mine is 5.25 x 7.5 x 1.25
It looks like everything is the same, except the outer margin is smaller and the paper is less opaque. I'd prefer the better paper, but I like the smaller size of this old one.

I agree - the matte finish on the maps (and perhaps also on the dedication/births/deaths pages?) is a great change; I've found that the glossy tends to get strange marks on it, especially in the dedication pages when you write on them). I wish they had a concordance on this, as it feels unnecessary to omit it (it's not a compact Bible).

I know its minor but I have started to look for more bibles on the budget end that have 2 or 3 ribons. Does it really add that much cost to add them?

The one thing that Crossway needs to do different in my opinion is to use a more durable liner and end sheet like what they use in the study bible. The paper starts to tear too easily and these don't hold up long if you really use them a lot. I have a creeds and confessions trutone that is having that problem. It would slightly stiffen the cover but not too bad.

    • @Mb2IseeU
      @Mb2IseeU 9 месяцев назад

I have the TruTone interleaved edition and it could use a more durable liner as well. It’s a paper liner and I would think for such a big bible block a better liner would be an obvious decision.

With single column Bibles, each line is much larger so many people struggle to keep track.

I have a few recent crossway bibles where the gold gilding causes half of the pages to stick together, in some cases it is really difficult to separate, and it looks like that may be happening here too? The pages dont lay smooth and flat, but puff out at the edges, and are a bit rougher and "crinkley", as compared to a premium bible. Do you think this is a batch or lot variation, or just the quality commensurate with economy printing?

    • @Mb2IseeU

After using a few synthetic leather Bibles, out of experience I'm telling you guys. Please do not buy any synthetic leather Bibles. I used 3 so far and I had to use 3 cause the leather Bibles are way too expensive and I was not able to afford them. The problem with synthetic leather is that it wears off if you use them and even if you don't they tend to get damaged. I would recommend a synthetic Bible if you want one just to leave it in your car or leave one on your office desk just in case you don't carry your everyday Bible with you, you have one as a backup.
I had a beautiful Bible by Holman which was a personal size giant print. This was gifted by my mom and dad for my birthday 15 years ago. And then in 2020 I met JESUS. Started loving the word and digging into the Bible... Slowly it started losing the cover. Then another Bible which was the same leather soft cover and same issue and then it was peak of covid wave 1 and I needed a good Bible but none were available due to lack of stock. Then finally I got a Holman full colour kjv leather soft. This is my daily study Bible and now it started peeling off. Thank God I got the same Bible in genuine leather also.
The thing is leather soft Bibles look soo good and are very affordable. But when you dive deep into the word. Holy spirit God talks to you soo much and you write soo many quotes and thoughts in the Bible soo much. You pray and God answers through the word and your Bible is underlined and highlighted everywhere.. finally cover starts to peel off.. I felt sad looking at them cause we don't have good binders here in our place.
If you have good binders who can do a good leather binding later on, please go for a synthetic leather Bible as you can have it rebound later on.
I soo wish God blesses us with an abundance of affordable leather Bibles everywhere soon. I've been looking for a good one but they are way too expensive. But our GOD is faithful he will definitely provide somehow 😊. I hope you all find the best Bible that you can ever have.
May GOD bless you and you be a blessing. Praise the LORD 😇
