I absolutely adore this sequence. David Burke is so good, and oh so adorable. It's great to see Watson making a naughty breech of etiquette for a change. Those facial expressions are unbeatable. And that laugh is just splendid! ;-D
Watson: "What the hell am I listening to?" Holmes: "Shush, Watson. be polite. . ." Jabez Wilson: "And then when I got to the place. . . it was a manufactory of artificial knee-caps!" Watson: LMAO!
It was indeed a funny reaction to a funny incident which makes me laugh my back off. But the part which moves me the most is what Mr.Jaybz said after both of them had a good laugh. He says that he came to Holmes, having heard Holmes' great reputation of helping poor people in distress. It was the most genuine comment that touched Holmes in the episode.
THIS is the biggest story element missing from both Sherlock and Elementary. I love both shows in their own way due to my decades of devotion to Sherlock Holmes , but they both missed adding the one canon aspect and that is Sherlock didn't just do murders or important cases. He loved being challenged and anything that was out of the ordinary intrigued him. This especially hurt Elementary, especially since both leads are awesome comedic actors and I think it would have helped the ratings and it would have stayed on the air a bit longer. Not that I wanted them to turn into comedies , but having a few episodes that were less horrific and more comedic in nature would have been fun and created more interest, IMO. But what do I know?
I dunno about Elementary, but with Sherlock, I think the biggest missing element is just the humanity. They made Sherlock into a monster, where he actually had a heart of gold. Sherlock isn't cruel, he's just a weirdo by Victorian/Edwardian standards. Jeremy Brett liked to teach people his methods and get them to think on his level, while Cumberbatch's Holmes mocked people for not being as smart as him. Not really the actor's fault, but the writing on that show was just so frusterating.
Hey I never noticed that before. Holmes getting Jaybez (srry for my spelling if i got it wrong) to stay, while Watson takes a few more moments to collect himself. :D
Roger Hammond was a brilliant Jabez Wilson and made the character unforgettable. Also of note was the Agra phobic bookmaker in an episode of Minder and the doctor who treated George III in the Madness of King George and so much other work over the decades.

The way he's trying to shush Watson at first...
..Watson is falling out laughing and poor Holmes is trying so hard to exercise restraint. Pure pleasure to watch!
I love how Holmes tries to shut Watson up and ends up laughing himself! This is too funny!
That look at 2:08, really says it all. Holmes was silently warning Watson not to laugh and Watson telling Holmes, "I don't care." :D
I love the way Jeremy Brett's Holmes smiles and laughs... It's how I would imagine Sherlock would be...
Watson: "What the hell am I listening to?"
Holmes: "Shush, Watson. be polite. . ."
Jabez Wilson: "And then when I got to the place. . . it was a manufactory of artificial knee-caps!"
Watson: LMAO!
Holmes: Okay, LOL!
The sound of their laughter is like a warm hug to my ears.
jeremy had the most beautiful laugh. plus he was soooo good looking.
"I WOULDN'T MISS THIS CASE... For the world... IT IS MOST refreshingly unusual."
XD I love how Holmes loves the strange cases

David Burke will always be my favourite Watson.
I love how they're glancing at each other before bursting into laughter mirrors the SiB scene in Buckingham Palace. :)
How I love this! David Burke is my favorite Watson! The interpretation of Holmes & Watson is right on the money!
oh my...this is truly a lovely scene!!! I love his little laugh after he sits down....and the way he gives a little hop in his chair....wonderfulness!
Loved David Burke's portrayal of Watson, Edward Hardwicke too.
I love his laugh.
Which one?
At first he tried so hard just to keep from laughing... I love when he just quites trying.
One of the best scenes in the Jeremy Britt Sherlock...
I LOVE how Burke's laughing!!! XD
"The work was very interesting."
He thinks copying out the Encyclopedia is fun? Jeez, Wilson must be the most boring man on the planet.
If he's learning from it...
No he thinks the stuff he’s learning about is fun
Rolling on the floor with that laughter 😂 😂 😂
It's so refreshingly unusual....

short and violent
@SherlockAholic It's because of his coat you see, but that makes it no less endearing. Nice username, by the way.
And 2:16, of course....
