The song, written by Tommy and Dee Dee, was released on the 1976 album, 'Ramones'. Supposedly, the original title, "Animal Hop", was changed by Dee Dee. Tommy explained that the lyrics of Blitzkrieg Bop refer to an audience waiting in line to attend a rock concert.
This cover was recorded in our basement studio, on an iPhone 10 without any post mixing. The sound could be better.
If you listen closely, you can hear Brown Bear, chanting along... "Hey Ho, Let's Go!" ⚡️🧸⚡️

I saw them in 1990 when I was 19 and while I was really stoked to see them, I didn't appreciate just how much I would treasure that night 30+ years later! That was the Escape From New York tour with Tom Tom Club (With Jerry Harrison) and Deborah Harry! Small crowd at a small theater (Ventura, California) so it was super personal feeling, and there was still a lot of
energy! I loved it all, the power and speed of the Ramones was certainly there in full. I had been in love with Deborah Harry since I was a 9 year old kid, so of course I found her entrancing. And I had been a Talking Heads fan for years at that point, but didn't know Tom Tom Club and went in disappointed it wasn't Talking Heads with Byrne, but was very pleasantly surprised and TTC was SO FUN and perfection to dance to! I have SO many regrets about great shows, bands I missed back in the day, but SO glad me and some friends went to that show!

Funny thing you mention Tom Tom Club today. Today I finally learned where the repeated "Bohannon, Bohannon, Bohannon... " in Genius of Love came from?!!! It refers to Hamilton Bohannon. Makes sense given all the other musicians mentioned in Genius of Love. I discovered this when learning about Jain (Jeanne Louise Galice), because I try to keep up with all the latest ear worms so I'm not completely ignorant of what the kids are listening to! Anyways... Jain's Makeba samples Hamilton Bohannon's " Me & the gang ", so I was like, "Wait? Who is this Bohannon and could it be the reason they say that in the Tom Tom Club song? And of course it is!!! So, that's my musical trivial snippet for the day! Also? All music is related in some way! Genius of Love is a crazy interesting song and it's unreal it came out in 1981? SO ahead of it's time!
