Man, it's good to see some positivity in RUclips comment sections. His games surely aren't flawless, but they are fantastic. Not just him, of course - the entire Bethesda team.
For the people saying they want Morrowind or Oblivion remastered, to remaster the other Elder Scrolls games would as much time and money as it would to make TES VI, so its not worth while they are still making new TES games.
Remember the part where Todd tells about there new game studio they recently opened...now 1 can work on ES6 and the other can work on remastering/ reworking Morrowin or Oblivion. Just some food for thought.
To remaster Morrowind or Oblivion would mean they would have to rebuild the game from the ground up, especially Morrowind which they would have to do a number of things like give NPC's radiant AI and create new voice acting for all the NPC's where there was Text. A project like that would take the entire Bethesda team to recreate and would push back any future Elder Scrolls game which is not what the Elder Scrolls community wants to see and pushes the company backwards. A project like a Morrowind remaster that is basically what the Skywind team is doing right now. It's to bad Bethesda doesn't see the potential in this project and just contract the team to create the Remaster of Morrowind for them. Obviously, the Skywind team are a group of very passionate group of Morrowind fans, and that is the kind of group you can trust in releasing such a project like Skywind.
As stated above there is a project called skywind, which aims to rebuild morrowind in the skyrim engine. its led by a group of individuals not associated with bethesda but they have gotten approval from bethesda for the project and they even have their own website.
When Todd says that they won't get everything right, they'll make mistakes, and they want to try new things. I feel as though the Bethesda community should hear that and take it in
Some of these new additions like legends and fallout 4 dlc's, I'm not very fond of. But hands down, I do not doubt Todd's ability in making games nor do I deny that he is THE best game developer in my lifetime.
You can clearly see the precise moment at 2:30 whenTodd forgets he´s in an interview-situation and starts thinking on were to get the materials for a Deadric mace....
Nah there are other continents in the lore with entirely new and unique races. They will probably make use of those or a realm of Oblivion which is on the nicer side like Shivering Isles. I doubt they will do it on the Nord's home continent since we just got Skyrim
I'd say 2020 is a realistic estimate for Elder Scrolls VI. Though, that would be nine years between single-player TES games and six years between TES games in general. In any case, I'm expecting something spectacular, something akin to Valenwood or Black Marsh.
What he probably meant by that is the fact that consoles are lagging behind like always and for what they have in mind, will require advanced consoles. They can't really work too much ahead just in case PS4 and Xbox would release weak consoles that can't handle the damn game.
+Brucho Sindicate well seeing that the Witcher can run better than Fallout does on any platform despite Witcher being far superior in graphics? Pretty sure it's the engine
Doubt it. Do you want a Skyrim/Oblivion/Morrowind level of detail but over 9 provinces? Sure you do, but that'll take 9 times the amount of time. There is a point where that level of scale starts to become a human problem, not a tech problem. I think they can definitely make the games bigger. But there is no way that they'll ever be able to deliver the openness of previous elder scrolls games over that scale.
Hmm at 2:27 i notice a dragonplate gauntlet, but i cant remember it having the chainmail coming from it covering the arm, i also dont remember chainmail comming from that Glass armour that the character seems to be wearing. Could it be they snuck in some new armour and trying to keep it a secret? I guess i might be seeing things that arent there btw, who knows.
elderscroles 2 would be better noone played it. update it with the new scyrim graphix and new voice actors. and update the engine but keep it the same.
In my opinion I believe Bethesda Game Studios is the best gaming company out there to date. I honestly rarely hear when they "disappoint" the fans. They're straight-forward, honest, amazing company and I honestly do not know anyone who can top them!
By responding the way Todd did to the question of if they were doing another fallout or was it a new ip pretty much all but confirms that they are in fact currently making another fallout in my opinion
More like one game that is half-baked to keep the revenue coming, keep shareholders happy, and eventually sell to Microsoft so they can make the game they actually want to make: Starfield.
the 3 big projects, 2 before es6, also what does the mention of more technology needed, new engine? new mechanics? dynamic voice AI (like Siri, but good and with character)?
Very cryptic messages from Todd Howard. I can't decide whether the tech part meant building a new engine or waiting for the Scorpio/NEO or maybe even for some completely new consoles in 2020+. Hell, it might even be waiting for Virtual Reality to get popular.
Did he just asked how long it would take to make an ENB for Skyrim from Bethesda? It's not that long tbh. If modders can do it, they can certainly do it.
Building a new engine is part of game development on this scale. The engine they used for Fallout 4 is already outdated when it comes to using newer API's and probably took over a year to make. If not longer.
Kiefer Wickham Yes they did. IGN had an interview with Todd 'the God' Howard where he said they would allocate staff in a more dynamic way whenever they decide which project is the first to release, while smaller teams continue on the other projects. I spoke with a Bethesda employee not long ago and he said the companies structuring is fairly similar to Valve's policies. People can switch between projects if they think they are a better addition to the other project, which is a nice way to keep staff happy I suppose. It's only about 6 minutes or so long, should be easy to find on their channel
To remaster the other Elder Scrolls games would as much time and money as it would to make TES VI, so its not worth while they are still making new TES games.
Well, from Morrowind to Oblivion was 4 years, and Oblivion to Skyrim was 5. It's already been 5 years since Skyrim, and I was saying 4 years (at least) from now which means it would be 9 years between Skyrim and ES 6.
This is why I love bethesda. They don't rush any of their games out or sell us half a game. They take serious time and effort and they don't care how many years it takes to release as long as their fans aren't disappointed. Love em
Skyrim remastered is almost a new game if the mod compatibility is true. With the Bran new textures and the insane modding community, it will be awesome. BTW IM TALKING ABOUT CONSOLES. I have always wanted mods on my 360 version of skyrim, and i would play on my cousins computer. I'm so very exited For even just the game itself
You console guys do realize: 1.Most mods require SKSE(which is unavailable on consoles) 2.A proper load order correction tool(also not on consoles) 3.And the most important fact of all, getting permission from modders to put it on the consoles. You guys have kinda left bad taste in mod creators mouths by stealing content(i.e Fallout 4 console mods) and uploading it without permission *then* when the mod bricks your Xbox; have the nerve to go to the original author and complain even though the original author didnt upload it. So just calm down
i feel like bethesda will have some sort of work around for SKSE mods and such because your right a LOT of mods require SKSE and i would assume they realize that. Idk what they could do other than to change their rules about the types of mods they allow.
i'm thinking a new engine and VR support in it all. Also, i think they are gonna go with Valenwood for ES6 because of the floating tree villages and stuff, so i'd imagine they need a new engine to handle what crazy stuff they have planned
"we dont have the technology right now" hmmmm perhaps they want to make the whole planet of the elder scrolls universe playable? you know in the elder scrolls universe, events are taking place in the planet Nirn where there are 2 continents, Tamriel and Akavir. So it would be logical to assume that they want to make the whole planet playable but ofcourse we dont have the technology to make such a huge area playable yet, (we are talking about a whole planet people!) Well we can only hope.......
+S Haddad 2018 - 2019 is most likely. I could see it going as far as 2021, however. Perhaps they're waiting for the next gen consoles to arrive. Are there any projected dates for the next gen of consoles yet?
he literally confirmed they haven't even started it he only has an idea of what it will be but they dont have the tech don't expect to hear about it before 2020
You know what'd be swell? Releasing Skyrim remastered, then announcing and releasing Oblivion remastered the next year and then Morrowind remastered after that.
+Adam Udale Well, do you think Morrowind's engine could handle high definition textures, and high-poly meshes? Because I think remastering Morrowind would require porting to an existing engine from Fallout 4 , which would also take a lot of time. Not to mention that Morrowind has very few voiced lines, and most NPCs are just fillers, saying the same stuff
Oh no. Could you ship TES 6 earlier then your new titles? Waiting for another five years just hurt very much. I haven't been in my favourite game series for so long ago since Dragonborn DLC in 2013.
so does this mean TES VI coming in 2023? that's the leastI can think of it could also mean TES VI in 2027 or who knows he said they need more technologyso we will be waiting for a whole generation I think without TES VI
yes they can do it in 4 years but what if they are doing 2 other full games then they spend time developing technology this can take years and years each game needs at least 2-3 yes they should take their time to make the best TES but i don't want them to take more than they need with other games
No way. If we were do to whole Tamriel with similiar scale as Skyrim, modeling the world itself would take 5 years, not to mention all the NPCs and Dungeons and quests and so on. It'd be nice to have such a game, but I don't want to wait until 2024 for it.
how would they make it bigger? like wut, they're going to resize a province that's already been set in lore? Maybe in DLC we'd see Orsinium , but you're the only one asking for it.
In later interviews after its release he would go on to talk about how that entire game was a challenge, but that he felt he and his team grew more during the development of Fallout 76 than during development of F4 or Skyrim.
I really love fallout n elder scrolls but I think it's a good idea for them to do offer games but still with there style like a open word uncharted thing but with there way of doing stuff I guess what I'm saying is it's go for them to do more than just fallout and elder scrolls
If it's going to be years for ES 6 ,might as well remaster Morrowind. Honestly. New players probably would enjoy it more then Skyrim and Vets would appreciate it. Just need to fix the combat.
They might be implying that what they want to do is above current gen consoles. Or perhaps utilizing a peripheral that hasn't been marketed. Maybe they're waiting for the standardization of VR.
I really don't like people. You get all hyped up, this happens all the time. Just wait for the games to come out, and stop speculating what you think it's going to be...
Bethesda, please release an update for Skyrim xbox 360 that fixes the famous "quest glitches" that are still there. You all have spent time making a remastered version for xbox1 and ps4 so why not release an update for your xbox 360 fans that finally fixes these game breaking glitches. Please dont diss the xbox 360 players.
He did say we wouldn't believe they could do it if he told us. That sounds more like all of Tamriel to me. Do you have any other ideas on what that could mean?
+Jaqen H'ghar tbh honest that's actually plausible cus if they have been making it since skyrim that's 10 years by around 2020 so a game 10 years in development could be massive 😊
ItzHarry It still seems like way too much for the player to do. With the number of cities all with different designs and different regions with so many different landscapes to model. If they are doing all of Tamriel I think it'd have to be the last elder scrolls ever. They could never do another game based in one Provence again. Some people think they could move onto Akivir, but if you know anything about it you'd know how stupid that would be, and how different to other ES games it'd be. Bethesda are also working on two other large games. Which could mean it's going to take even longer for ES6 to come out, and that they're looking for a game to replace ES. The story would be epic if it's the last game. Maybe involving the return of the dwemer and/or the ushering in of a new age with the Men and Mer settling their differences in a fairer empire, or it could be the end of the elves and beasts like in many other fantasy stories.
Mr. Howard and Skyrim-involved-staff are freaking geniuses. LOL, I have a crap-load of PS3 games and barely play anything else, because I stick to Skyrim. I wish it weren't EXTREMELY long for an upgrade of Skyrim (and on console - although I DO have like 3 or 4 titles on PC. :) ), because I miss playing darn near every day. I feel horrible for saying this, but - I believe sometime around the holidays this past year, and only a week or two of getting the new copy FROM BETHESDA ITSELF - the then "new" copy already messed up. That makes/made me feel like I let down the folks at Bethesda, because at the time I found out it messed up, it made me feel like I betrayed the very company who went out of their way to send me the newer copy of Skyrim (Which I still thank em' for that, though - of course !!). Making things even MORE crappy for me, is that I think my PS3 has gone to crap, because for a long time during the evening hours, I can play my game better than I can during the day....for some weird, freaking reason. I still appreciate Bethesda for sending my then-new copy. Still appreciative of you guys !!! I even got a paper with the game from the company thanking me for LIKING the game so much, and signed by Mr. Howard AND Mr. Grandstaff - thank you, sirs. I haven't been playing lately, because a few days ago, I got frustrated with my game when I was unable to turn in the jagged crown to General Tullius as the quest was active to speak to the Greybeards about forming the meeting on High Hrothgar to stop the war until Alduin was killed. The stupid Jagged Crown wasn't able to be turned in to General Tullius, which ticked me off. I initially was a Stormcloak, but had the idea of taking the crown to General Tullius afterward. I love hearing Galmar and Ulfric's ticked off responses after seeing me after betrayal, HAAHHA !!!
1:15 - Yet, another lie from Todd Howard. Then why does Fallout 3 still require Windows Live and crash every 5 minutes on Windows 10 and why does Oblivion still not have Xbox gamepad support on the PC? Why can't they take the small amount of resources and time to upgrade their older games, that are still being played to this day, to run better on modern OS's. Oblivion was also a game designed to be played on a console with a User Interface designed for a a gamepad. It was released on the Xbox 360, yet it was never given Xbox 360 gamepad support on the PC, even though modern Windows OS have Xbox gamepad drivers built into them. If Todd Howard says that they want to "update and support them from years to come", why haven't we seen any updates for them? I know that concentrating on the latest project takes priority, but setting aside one to two people to work on updating and fixing a few issues with some of the older popular titles should not put a complete burden on the main project, and fans of the older games can enjoy them without having to find workarounds to play them on PC.
You know, I love The Elder Scrolls very much, but I don't like where they are heading. With each part it becomes less RPG and more sandbox. I don't need another Far Cry. I want to be fascinated both by the scale of world and scale of skill system. I wouldn't call myself RPG nerd, but plenty of skills are interesting to develop, this allows you to make a really unique charcter. If Skyrim had 27 skills, like in previous TES's (Spears, Athletics, Hand-to-Hand), it would be much more replayable.
Another con of latest Elder Scrolls is how characters react to you. You don't acquire any particular fame of threatening Dragon-slayer, notorious criminal or mysterious mage. And this is the key part of any *role*-playing game - characters' reaction to your personality and behaviour. If you wish good examples of it - play Vampire The Masquerade: Bloodlines or, at least, Fable series (even Morrowind had Appearance and Reputation as separate scales).
VtM:B is great, but I didn't like Fable. Yes, Fable allowed you marry people and had an economy system and all that, but, it just felt lacking. I agree with you on Morrowind. Morrowind got it right. Its a pity Bethesda won't be going back to most of Morrowind's strengths. But hey - Morrowind is always around for future generations to try. (also the best RPG to make use of reputation, IMHO, was Arcanum. Now THAT was a game that really pushed the extent on how people percieved you. And it was a lively world. Unlike Fallout - which are great, but msotly reflected a dying, scraping by world)
if you read this Todd, please try to make an adult game. challenge the norms like the witcher series. you will earn a lot of cash regardless, but there is no glory in playing it safe and making a forgettable game. iterations of the same quests capture the peoples attention for only so long
Todd Howard is true visionary! But even more so; he brings his visions to life!
It just works!
He definitely ranks along with miyamoto and Hideo Kojima

You got to admit, he's pretty good at avoiding them too.

isn't that Skywind mod being currently done atm effectively a remaster though?
if its not done by the cream of the crop of Todd's pick, best not to let the new team butcher such an established series. look what happened with ESO.
To remaster Morrowind or Oblivion would mean they would have to rebuild the game from the ground up, especially Morrowind which they would have to do a number of things like give NPC's radiant AI and create new voice acting for all the NPC's where there was Text. Nah there are other continents in the lore with entirely new and unique races. They will probably make use of those or a realm of Oblivion which is on the nicer side like Shivering Isles. I doubt they will do it on the Nord's home continent since we just got Skyrim

+Aztecax that's why he said they don't have the technology yet, a huge world
Previously Todd said they will never make whole Tamriel, instead they will be more focused on provinces.

Valenwood would tie into the whole leak that happened a while ago which outlined some 'Project Greenheart' as being under works.
+avatarion and as we've seen with Fallout those rumours early on with Project Boston turned out to be true
Love this guy so much :')
I like how he was just like "so TES6 three games away then" "ehhh..we'll see"
"we dont have the technology right now" hmmmm perhaps they want to make the whole planet of the elder scrolls universe playable? you know in the elder scrolls universe, events are taking place in the planet Nirn where there are 2 continents, Tamriel and Akavir. So it would be logical to assume that they want to make the whole planet playable but ofcourse we dont have the technology to make such a huge area playable yet, (we are talking about a whole planet people!) Well we can only hope.......
Are you No Man's Sky overhyper? )
Todd said there will never be other continents, only province by province.
I hope we only have to wait 2 years at the most for a elder scrolls 6
I think by the way he said it it's still 4 years away
I think we will either play it or see the first trailer by 2018 at most.
I hope so but dought it
+S Haddad 2018 - 2019 is most likely.
And let's not forget Daggerfall and Arena
+Adam Udale Well, do you think Morrowind's engine could handle high definition textures, and high-poly meshes? Because I think remastering Morrowind would require porting to an existing engine from Fallout 4 , which would also take a lot of time. Not to mention that Morrowind has very few voiced lines, and most NPCs are just fillers, saying the same stuff
You're missing the fact that arena and daggerfall don't even have bloody meshes.
when the new xbox comes out they will release es6
Oh no. Could you ship TES 6 earlier then your new titles? Waiting for another five years just hurt very much. I haven't been in my favourite game series for so long ago since Dragonborn DLC in 2013.
please tell me we are playing the dovahkiin in elder scrolls 6
Dustin Noahubi How about no? I want to become great by my own actions, not just become the most powerful person in skyrim 5 minutes into the game.
Itd be cool if the skyrim remastered had dlc launched for it other than the pre existing dlc like new stuff aswell
I wish, but hey it's at least free for PC players who already had everything and they have mods on console. So I still think it'll be worth it.
+Avblade ima pre order it wen i can then haha
+TheTreyVidz it would be dope but ye thats true itll be dope
+Avblade fair enough!
My list of wishes for Elder Scrolls VI so far:
- New engine
- Virtual Reality
- Elsweyr or Hammerfell.
not exactly new engine but they do update their engine
it is going to be VR the whole game 6:15
what is the card game that is played for a few moments in the interview?
Elder Scrolls Legends
What are the two main projects bethesda are doing?
Wakanda Forevaah Starfield and Fallout 5 or a fallout spin off
so does this mean TES VI coming in 2023? that's the leastI can think of it could also mean TES VI in 2027 or who knows he said they need more technologyso we will be waiting for a whole generation I think without TES VI
My bet is sometime within 2018 - 2021. Maybe a next gen console launch title.
What these dates are scaring me!! They seem so far of hopefully its 2019,2020.
I'm fine with them taking their time as needed.
yes they can do it in 4 years but what if they are doing 2 other full games then they spend time developing technology this can take years and years each game needs at least 2-3 yes they should take their time to make the best TES but i don't want them to take more than they need with other games
so what about the other 2 games are you saying they will have a game in 2016 and another in 2017 and then TESVI in 2018??
What the hell sort of game needs technology to advance before it can be made?!
It takes place in Orsinium or RIOT
if it is big i think elders scrolls six will be whole tamriel
No way. If we were do to whole Tamriel with similiar scale as Skyrim, modeling the world itself would take 5 years, not to mention all the NPCs and Dungeons and quests and so on. It'd be nice to have such a game, but I don't want to wait until 2024 for it.
Do you know how small Orsinium is?
Temujin They would make it bigger ffs
I want actual orcs (not shitty small orcs like in TESO) :(
how would they make it bigger? like wut, they're going to resize a province that's already been set in lore? Maybe in DLC we'd see Orsinium , but you're the only one asking for it.
Poor Todd, 6:29, he knew Fallout 76 would suck ass. I guess the high ups wanted it.
In later interviews after its release he would go on to talk about how that entire game was a challenge, but that he felt he and his team grew more during the development of Fallout 76 than during development of F4 or Skyrim.
I love skyrim but I don't want to buy it again and I've had so many play throughs that I don't want to play it again.
Look up skywind.....
what r these projects
new game series?
ValenWood and elswyer game 2020/10/20 come back to this comment when the game gets a release and a location I bet I'm right
Bro i need some ES6 in my life!
TODD SENPAI
i swear if hes talking about teleporting into the game
I like this guy!
oblivion remastered for xbox one and scorpio and i'll be satisfied until TES 6.
how old is this guy 🤔
62
+Hunt Wray you are wrong my friend i just checked his data he was born in 1971 so he is around 40's
He's 45 yrs. old. You are welcome my dear internet person.
Fallout 3 remastered would be nice
please don't let the elder scrolls 6 be in VR. Thats what i think he was hinting
TES VI with support for VR would be the greatest thing ever.
avatarion With VR support? Yes, that would be pretty cool. Full VR game? That would suck.
Im calling it right here, right now... Elder Scrolls IV: Infinite Sword Warfare
Godd howard is the bomb
So what he's saying is ESVI not even this generation.
let's be real, they definitely have the hardware necessary to make these games right now. they just need to use a better engine.
They might be implying that what they want to do is above current gen consoles. Or perhaps utilizing a peripheral that hasn't been marketed. Maybe they're waiting for the standardization of VR.
COMON! TES 6 WHERE ARE YOU
I really don't like people.
Huh so they're a little tired of the tes series
*Bethesda!*
*When you make TES VI, just pretend "TESO" never happened, I beg you.*
Hammerfell should be next
Swagamaru Nara That won't happen. Bethesda would have to be mad. The vast majority of their fan base are on consoles.
Lol,he didn't even thinking about tes-6
Sweet little lies
It's funny how stupid you are.
The Elder Scrolls VI: Tamriel
Unlike Fallout - which are great, but msotly reflected a dying, scraping by world)
I love you Todd! 😜
5 people must be ESO fanboys
22.22.2022 ;) :D
*Laugh in MasterRace*
if you read this Todd, please try to make an adult game. challenge the norms like the witcher series. you will earn a lot of cash regardless, but there is no glory in playing it safe and making a forgettable game. iterations of the same quests capture the peoples attention for only so long
agree man skyrim was so easy and fast
New Vegas with an upgraded game engine........... Bruh 😲
