@24princesses Those are children's crafting beads and you should be able to find them easily in any craft stores in the area where they sell jewellery findings, "googly eyes", cabochons etc :).
Can you prefer further information, please? I am having trouble finding the right beads and I realllllllyyyyy want to complete a plushie. Can you specify where you get yours or a specific place that sells them? Thank you! :) (btw I wuuuuvvv your videos!
omg i've learnt so much from this video, im doing design in high school soon and its going to be my first timeee picking up a needle haha but watching this made me feel very well prepared for sewing, please make more videos on sewing tips if you have more, they are very informative and i've always been a fan of your videos :3
1. Back Stitch - 0:48 This is used for all pieces where you turn the sock inside-out first 2. Running Stitch - 2:10 This creates a drawstring effect which neatly seals the base of the body, head, arms, or legs. 3. Ladder Stitch - 4:15 This is used to attach extra pieces like the head, arms, or tail to the body. 4. Knotting - 4:57 This is how to close your thread and hide the end. 5. Attaching Eyes - 5:39 This doesn't involve a special stitch, but mostly precision in making sure your needle comes out in the right place each time. 6. Sewing Mouth - 7:26 I use a very small back-stitch for this, but any sewing technique is okay as long as the lines are clean. Extra: Troubleshooting Tips - 9:08 How to fix tangled or knotted thread. What to do if the thread is completely stuck?
@My Crafts Hmm it's possible that the ears were drawn too small so there isn't much room for them to expand, or the sock fabric isn't stretchy enough. When you back-stitch the outlines, try to check that the stitching exactly follows the line on BOTH sides of the sock fabric. (I usually have to keep turning the sock back and forth to make sure the line stays straight). What sometimes happens is that the backstitch starts "drifting" off the original line you drew. If this is the case, then it will affect the shape of the ears when you turn them inside out and you won't be able to stuff enough cotton inside to create the round shape.
i haven't done any sewing in what feels like ages... back in school it was terrible for me because no one really explained anything about it and expected us to just know, so i grew to dislike it... but your tutorials are making me want to try it again! I'm super tempted to try and make an among us plushie for myself thank you so much for this! ♥
Thank you for sharing the ladder stitch! I've done crochet anigurumi pieces for years and struggled with how to attach the heads properly and now thanks to you I can do so far more cleanly than I have in the past :)
This is the best sewing techinques video I've seen. Clear and to the point. Also, thank you for using a color thread that stands out so it's easier to see what you're doing. Very helpful!
Tommie wolf12 Thank you!! I've would love to make a pug and it's been requested several times. I'm trying to think of a way to create the face as a sock plush, which is slightly tricky but if I figure it out I will make a video for it ^_^
Maqaroon Maybe you could make a half circle (but chubby and small) and use some black felt for a nose or maybe a black bead. And do the rest with you're DIY puppy plush. Sorry if this wasn't helpful for you I'm only 10 so I guess I'm just a beginner at sewing even though I had a class! I've only been seeing for 2 years hehe 😅 love you're crafts Joanna!
Me and my wife are big kids at heart. We love our stuffed animals. I recently decided to learn how to make them myself and I love your tutorials! I look forward to making my first soon!
Thanks so much for this! I just discovered your channel and I know I'll be using it like crazy. I made my first sock plush today and had tons of fun :]
You're still young and have many years to practise and improve. It's perfectly normal that a 10 year old won't be able to sew as well as a 16 year old or 30 year old (which is how old I am now!) The important part is to enjoy the process of making something and try not to compare yourself to people who are much older ^_^.
Wow! These techniques are motivating me to start sewing something! Also, that knotting technique is the only knotting one I know, so I'm glad seeing I'm doing it right!
This helped me a lot, especially with my confidence. I understood the techniques well and tried to make my own sock bunny plush for the first time! The sock wasn't great and I made it kind of small but it looks super cute and I'm very proud of it! Thanks Joanna!
Im new to sewing and i was having so much trouble.. This video really helped! Thank you so much!! I love this channel!! Its my favorite and i even recommend my friends to watch you❤️
I’m planning on trying to get into sewing so I can make plushies for my best friend and my sister (so she can take them to the nursery she works at for the kids) and this is really helpful! Love your work, I’m definitely going to try these techniques
Nice!! I love your thorough and detailed instructions of the various stitches. I do not sew, but I know I can do this with your instruction. Thank you!!!
Funny how many of your tips I haven't learn them from anywhere, but they came to me when I was practicing. I'm self taught and the methods just make sense.
Joana, your sock plushie tutorials really makes me want to do them immediately because of the faces. So cute and actually I watch a lot of your vids and the most recent one that you uploaded I only skipped to the sheep plush because when I first was you holding the three plushies I first glared at the sheep and the look amazed me and I urgently want to make that. By the way I only made 1 or 2 plushies in total and since it is christmas well almost christmas, I want to impress my mom with that sheep plush because she sometimes is having a very hard time and she had been working hard for me always so in return, I will make that for her christmas present. Please stay safe and merry christmas to you Joana I do love your videos so much.
Lol I actually know how to sew but it's lovely to watch how well you explain all the steps in basic sewing :) I Was sewing as I was watching this video and all the techniques I use are similar to what you explained in the video xD One suggestion: If one decides to attempt to make a longer string: the person will for sure have to pull the string slowly to avoid tangles. Also smaller stitches make for cleaner plushies :D Amazing tutorial as always and will definitely help any of the new comers who want to sew
I was trying to make the pig out of a sock one from one of your videos and this video helped me almost finish it. I did make a mistake with the nose but my mom will help me with it but I did do almost everything myself thanks to this video! It was really useful 😅
Thank you so much for making this video! I'm definatley going to use it as a future reference for making plushes. I can't believe how many things I have been doing wrong!
Plus I love your channel i watch it everyday waiting for new videos. I have actually taken an interest to needle felting, those cute little animals you make are amazing.
I'm rather dreadful at making sock plushes. This video really helped me know the proper technique, it turns out I was pulling too much thread, and it always tangled so I had to cut the thread and knot it there. Thank you! ^-^
Great tips! I'm awful at sowing so this really helped me a lot, now I can make these adorable plushes!!! I've got one question, what is that stitch that you showed us in the beginning called?
So for the back stitch you have to go in the middle of the stitch you just did? I don’t wanna mess up when I start stitching that’s why I’m asking 😅 Also what if I run out of thread in the middle of stitching?
Thank you so much for this detailed tutorial, it was really helpful! I made all of my previous plushies with felt and it was pretty frustrating. Now, I can just go to Walmart and get socks to do this with. I also want to know if this applies with the fluffy socks. Does it? I don't know and I have not really seen any fluffy sock tutorials, and if I have I don't remember it.
Grace Roberts Hi! This plushie was done using exactly the same method as this one (The Best Kawaii Plush Tutorial Ever! You won't believe how easy it is to make these bunnies!) just with a different coloured sock :). I will be posting more tutorials on slightly different methods in future, including a koala and alpaca :D
Im gonna do the Sock Bunny but make it into a bear with longer arms and legs! :) and im also gonna use extra eyes from needle felting for eyes LOL thank you some much for inspiring me Maqaroon! :)
+Alona Stepanova Thanks and good luck! The size I used was my own shoe size, european 36. However since it gets stuffed so much, the sock size won't make a huge difference...most adult socks sizes from 36-45 should all give a good result :)
+Rᴏᴍʏ Gɪʟʟ Thank you! The problem with short socks is that there might not be enough fabric to make the whole body. You can use ankle socks to make these simple head-only plushies like this ruclips.net/video/Xgd6SLqW8lo/видео.html
Hi maqaroon! Absolutely love your ideas and channel! I wanted to request this for a while now: do you think you can make like... A wolf plushie or like any big cats like Tigers or Lions? I love wolves especially, but since they aren't as plain as a bunny or a simple dog breed, I was thinking you could do a tutorial on how to make detailed sock plushies? My bestest friend's birthday is coming up, and she loves wolves like me, and it would surprise her to know I made an awesome plush all on my own, especially since I'm not very experienced but I do love crafts. Thank you!
How did it take me so long to find this!?! Can you show how to add indentions in the mouth and using indentions to make arms look like they are tucked into pockets? Thanks in advance.
lvmykdzz Hmm, it might be a bit tricky to make arms look like they're tucked into pockets. You could stuff the tip very lightly and sew it flat against the body. To make indentations, you have to exit the thread in another part of the body (someplace not noticeable like under a chin or ear) and tug it slightly so it pulls the fabric inwards. Then make a small stitch to fix the thread and sew it back to where it came from. For instance for the quokka mouth, I made every second stitch exit through the chin and pulled on it slightly to create the indentation.
I have had the dream of making clothes when I was about 8? I think it was 8 I’m now (I rounded it I’m not saying my age -_-) 20 and this helped a lot now I need to look up how to use a sewing machine XD you helped me a lot tho! Your the best keep it up!!
Thanks to your techniques I was able to make a rabbit from scratch all by myself :D You're super cool
+Megadoomer8000 You're absolutely welcome!! Thanks for supporting my channel and hope you make lots of cute plushies ^_^
+Maqaroon I don't understand the eyes part.
I know I’m late but ditto
:D I love maqaroon tooooo!

How to fix tangled or knotted thread. What to do if the thread is completely stuck?
If it's really too tangled, just cut and consolidate with a new thread where you've already been a little before you had to cut.
You would sooo be the best mom ever.
+senntret you would SEW* be the best mum ever
True dat
senntret YE You're right I want her to be my mom.

Thank you very much for ur techniques.i realy loved to do plushie and i did it. Yet again thanks i can give this to my little cousins

So for the back stitch you have to go in the middle of the stitch you just did? I don’t wanna mess up when I start stitching that’s why I’m asking 😅 Also what if I run out of thread in the middle of stitching?
These tips and techniques really are helpful
This is SUPER HELPFUL! THANK YOU!❤️🐨
Thank you so much for this detailed tutorial, it was really helpful!
She does also do them with fluffy socks! She even made a reversaple owl to penguin plush!
Silly question: but can I ask what half a stitch back means? I’ve never sewn anything before so I genuinely don’t know!
Thats so cute, could you maybe do a tutorial for the plushie you made in this video ?
Or a tutorial for another sock plushie? I really like them!

I love how she is soooo patient
This is really helpful! :D I hope you wouldn't mind answering this, but how do you secure the stitching at the end when you're done?
Im gonna do the Sock Bunny but make it into a bear with longer arms and legs! :) and im also gonna use extra eyes from needle felting for eyes LOL
thank you some much for inspiring me Maqaroon! :)
