This is why I loved thousand year door, it had areas like this that were so liminal and captured an aura that felt eery but it made it feel real and almost familiar.
@@shroomzed2947 Well except for the passage to the throne room and the throne room itself where you hear a different sound and the crypt itself where it's mostly quiet after the Shadow Queen's defeat.
I didn't know until recently that this is in most rooms of the palace. Including the tower. It's just more noticeable here, gloom boys' room, and the stairs leading to the tomb because there's no music. The only rooms you don't hear this at all are the room before the throne room, the throne room itself, and the queen's tomb. I recall this making me feel uneasy. Especially in gloomtail's room and the stairs leading to the queen.
Was replaying this game recently with my original GameCube copy from when I was a kid and just finished it again last night. Got all Tattle Records and did the Pit of 100 Trials before the final chapter. Chapter 8 always was my favourite chapter in the game, aside from the Glitz Pit chapter. Always loved this part of underground passage with the giant riddle tower. I remember the giant solar system at the top of it when you put all the keys in after solving all the riddles. Can't wait for the game's remake to come out on Switch in May next month, certainly going to breeze through it again.
The source of the creepy sound that's heard every several seconds in the palace of shadow is one big mystery to me. Nobody knows where it comes from in the palace and what makes it.
This game does leave room to make you think about some unexplained lores like how the palace used to look like, and how the civilization was like too. I love it when games have this eerie feel to it cause it makes them stand out in a unique way.
@@vidzwhizstudios Yeah. A pity they don't make paper mario games like this anymore these days. The first three had some of the coolest rpg aspects ever. I would pay to play a ttyd-style paper mario sequel with ttyd aspects.
@@vidzwhizstudioshonestly I would’ve loved to know what the Palace looked in its prime if it even existed before the Shadow Queen’s arrival (perhaps it was originally the residence of whoever ruled the ancient city, thus making the city a fallen kingdom). Heck it even gave me the idea of an AU one-off I’m currently writing where someone discovers that the palace has a secret library, and finds a book that disproves some of what the legend says.

I’m dying to play this magnificent game so bad right now
Now you can play it on switch!
@@NickMario1 FUCK YEAH. I almost had an orgasm when that game was shown last ND
@@NickMario1 Now you can step on a LEGO!
Man, I remember hearing that creepy choir-like sound before in the palace of shadow. Thanks for uploading this!
The most liminal space from my childhood.
I see this game is not dead in the hearts of many of us
Yes! and for the many of us it won't ever be :)
@@vidzwhizstudiosNow it will never be death
This ambience (minus the water) also plays after you beat Gloomtail in Gloomtail's room
It's also easy to hear it in the staircase to the Shadow Queen's crypt after beating her.
It plays throughout the entire Palace of Shadow.
@@shroomzed2947yeah i thought i heard it at some points in the towers of riddles when the animation for the chests to appear played
@@Greeniemean1also you can hear a similar sound in poshley sanctum entrance

This is my favorite area In the game. It's so beautiful
In this demonic and hellish place, theres still a little haven to rest your mind and go on
This place looks pretty beautiful for something that’s demonic and hellish if anything.

10:43 This is what I feel, right now...
No, not the dragon.
Anything but the dragon.
Sounds like spirits of the dead…
As if they’re trapped in the palace after the Shadow Queen had claimed their lives…
I was hoping somebody would upload this someday. Thank you for granting my wish. :)
