For anyone wondering, the boulder thing could be for two reasons. Either 1: the boulders could have the chance to weigh down a fishing net that is already in motion. Or 2(the more likely): the trolling nets that get pulled along afterwards have a chance to catch on the rocks which will typically result in the nets breaking, this releases any already caught fish, and makes the fishing boats waste time and money fixing it😊
mostly the second thing. Those nets can go well into six figures iirc, so it'll pretty much reset their income to zero if the net is damaged enough. Also, if it can't be fixed on board, the trawler has to drive back home with less or no catch, resulting in massive operation cost without profit and disrupting all financial flow
Couldn't it also scare the fish away? The movement in the water could make them scatter, resulting in less going in the nets. Probably not the main reason they did it, since the two you listed would be more efficient, but still.

I don't think the 911 call was frivolous because there would have been a hospitalization level emergency without the call. I'd like to say schools got better about this crap, but they totally haven't really.
Yeah, when I was in high school I had severe anxiety and would end up with panic attacks after bullying. Well my meds had to be stored with the nurse, so I'd go there kind of often. One day it got really bad and I needed my higher dose anxiety pill. The bottle says "take up to 2 pills per day". They're so effective on me that it actually makes me fall asleep, and so I only take a quarter of a pill. Nurse decided to be entitled and say she knew better than me, so she insisted I took 2 pills. Let's just say my mom had to physically carry me out of school at the end of the day when I didn't come out for 30 minutes, on top of sleeping through the last 2 hours of school.
Yep. My cousin is T1 and the health teacher didnt let her keep snacks with her because it was a 'sugar free classroom' so when her blood sugar went low she had to go all the way to the other side of the school to get to the nurse. Also as with the other reply I have severe anxiety. op was in a legitimate emergency situation. Life or death over the foolishness of the staff. They had every right to make that call, and i have no doubt that there wasnt a soul on that crew that felt that the call was even remotely frivolous. Im sure there was some serious discussion after op got their insulin between the firefighters and the staff about just how bad it really was, i know i would if i were one of them. You dont deny a child their medication, no matter what it is or what you think about its necessity. A doctor said they have to take it, a doctor isnt going to give them medication if its not necessary. I understand having the medication in the nurse's office (i dont agree, but i understand because as a child i had minor medication that i had in the nurse's office so the policy is familiar), what i dont understand is the idea of denying a student their prescribed medication just because you dont wanna go over, unlock a door, let them get their dose, then lock it back up afterwards if theres some security reason to lock it up. Or just letting the child in question keep their medication with them if the nurse cant be there when they need said medication
30:34 no cause they did this about Epi-pens too! We weren't allowed to carry them on us in my elementary, middle, and high schools. And the nurses weren't there half the time. So if you needed them, you were screwed. Because even if the door was unlocked, only the nurses had the keys to the cabinet that held them.
@@Ashakins123 i dont know about emergency medications like epipens and insulin, but as of 2010s they were still making students keep their medication in the nurse's office in at least some places. Thats what i had to do in elementary school, it wasnt vital medication so maybe its just certain types of medications, but i had to go in 2 times a day to take my medication for my adhd and a mood regulator for some behavioral issues i was having (nothing red flaggy, i still cant fully regulate my emotional response to stimuli, and when i was little my emotional responses were particularly bad due to me being too young to understand how to self regulate and even out the spikes, one of the more frustrating problems of autism spectrum disorder that i could never reign in fully) But yeah, TL;DR, they at least still did it in the 2010s where i grew up for at least some medications, so its sadly not impossible to imagine somewhere there was a school around that time having similar policies about emergency medications
why did Greenpeace drop boulders to discourage deep fishing? deep fishing involves scrapping the bottom of the sea floor with metal nets. the process breaks off the tops of coral and disturbs bottom feeder. boulders dropped in the area get caught in the nets and destroys the equipment discouraging the practice... so yeah, chaotic good this info brought to you by a Pokemon fan, the damaged coral inspired Galarian Corsola and its evolution Cursola

a child was in need, its their job, neigh their passion and purpose in life, to do whatever it takes to rectify that to the maximum extent of their ability. Thats why people become emergency responders, to save lives no matter what threatens them. The story is a wonderful example of why firefighters, among other emergency responders, deserve respect. It might be their job but its something that changes lives.
1:18:06 I don't know if that happened either (this isn't the first time I've heard this story) but if it did actually happen, can you imaging how embarrassed Law Enforcement would be when they read the second letter from Vinnie (ALL Prisoner's Mail is read by Prison Officials before it gets put in the mail) and realized Vinnie put one over on them... 😄😁😆😅😂🤣
"Boulders to disrupt fishing": - It's supposed to stop the type of fishing where they drag nets across the ocean floor (i believe because it massively impacts everything living on the ocean floor) "Chalk markings on tires" - It was preformed by private security of an Hoa. You mark the lowest point of the tire. If you come back and the mark is in a different position, the car had been moved. If it hasn't been moved the HOA will fine/tow. (could also be used for stake-out)
33:26 The boulder would prevent types of fishing gear from being dragged across the bed of wherever they're placed, as the gear would be damaged. This serves the purpose of protecting the more delicate marine life further down in the depths. I just did a quick google search though, so there may be more to it.
Can you just imagine “ how was your day?” “It was kind of crap a shark, bit my leg I fight it, but in the end I stitched it up, went to the pub with some of my friends” Sorry for the English
The chalking tires is a thing to, theoretically, make sure people aren't leaving derelict cars parked along the side of the road in a residential area. But in this case, it sounds like it was intended as discrimination or a means to fulfil a case quota by impounding cars they knew wouldn't be moved often enough.
the story about using a computer (~31:00) in school reminded me of my school in germany. I had really bad handwriting because of motor issues (im now 25 and if i write cursive it looks like a 2nd grader wrote that shit). In my elementary school (grade 1-4) we were FORCED to write in cursive, or get 0 points on our answers to tests. And when I got into 'High School' (called Gymnasium in germany, grades 5-12) i asked about using a laptop to take notes and was denied. Funnily enough it never occurred to me that the teachers were no longer enforcing cursive, so i kept writing my terrible cursive and losing points on basically every test because of it, even though i could have written in normal letters, which for me is way easier to write. Then in grade 10 i got one of my teachers i had for a couple of years at that point asking me if i'd like to use a laptop to take notes and even my tests and that made me chuckle. She absolutely exploded on me for daring to laugh in her face when she made a suggestion trying to help me so i wasn't allowed to use a laptop in her class either (though i probably wouldnt have bothered to carry around a laptop for just 1 subject anyways).
28:56 as a fellow type 1 diabetic of ten years (more than half my life, damn...), i can't imagine not having access to my insulin as needed. what this person did is SO COOL and just ahdjwjxkDShakxb wow
8:25 the story of the raid is: “An ex-Australian soldier in full tactical gear allegedly burst into an animal shelter with an assault rifle and tied up a worker in a failed bid to get his kitty back, according to a report Wednesday.”
And apparently, the shelter told the guy he can pick up the cat the next day, so he could've waited until the next day to pickup his cat. I don't really know why he resorted to raiding the place if they were going to return his cat to him the next day
Ok, for that dropping boulders to disrupt fishing, i can explain that if no one hasnt yet (havent read the hundred comments). Dropping large objects into the water can cause a number of different disruptions such as scattering feeding schools of fish, temporarily disrupting usual water currents and also interfering with if not destroying traps and nets
30:43 as a kid with type one diabetes I have had a lot of problems with school once I had an English teacher who complained to both my mom and the school nurse that I left her class to much because of my diabetes and the school nurses explained why I need to leave and she how diabetes worked. Best part is that she was also complaining about how I didn’t complete all my work because I left so often but then she said that I had enough time in class to do all 7 daily assignments I am not joking she literally would have 7 assignments per day in a 1 hour and 30 minute class. And to the people who read this all the way through thanks for listening or reading my entire rant have a great day.
I can totally relate to the school insulin story. My school required me to keep my RESCUE inhaler in the nurses office. All it took was one asthma attack and me calling 911. My mom forced the school to pay the hospital bill, and they got into a lot of trouble for locking an emergency medical device behind a door.
The airplane tape one is actually pretty common, apparently. I watch another channel and news stories with similar conclusions crop up a handful of times a year, usually the perpetrator is trying to open the door inflight and normally exclaiming "Jesus told me to do it". That channel describe flights as "little dictatorships in the sky" since the flight crew will do anything in their power to ensure the safety of all passengers, and this is the easiest form of restraint until the flight can land and authorities can take over.
i myself have type 2 diabetes shit sucks cant eat sweets but i have not been taking any insulin yet and i dont want to cuz it seems like torture props to that fireman.
So fun fact about the tip thing, you 100% can do it. My grandmother (who works for a major tax company) does it all the time. I hope more people start to do this to stop tip splitting too
So, the industrial fishing question. The way that works is they have these giant nets that get dragged along the sea floor. So when they drop the bolder, the net will hopefully get stuck or damaged where they try to trawl. Which is actually kind of brilliant
I remember having to have another kid escort me to the nurse because I started feeling low in class, thus doing exercise which would make my sugar drop more, just to check my blood sugar.
35:59 i know this dont sound too true but on my moms side of the family, if you go back far enough, you can find pretty boy floyd. i genuinely didnt know this until like, a month ago or so
13:16 During the time the article was posted and the event happened, Lebanon was going through a financial crisis that still lasts to this day. As a hail-mary, Lebanon locked all people in the country from accessing their bank accounts from banks or ATMs. Since Sally could not take out money, she raided the bank and urged to steal from herself.
33:22 my guess is that it hinders fishing using big nets that drag across the ocean floor. I know that’s a thing in commercial fishing, in Sweden we call it “trålare” if I’m not mistaken. In english it’s “Fishing trawler”. You basically have a huge net that you drag across the ocean floor to catch fish, this can ruin the vegetation and life on the ocean floor and when the nets break off they’re usually just left to float around. The floating nets are called “ghost nets” and many sea creatures often get tangled up in them and die. The boulders would intercept the nets as they need a flat-ish ocean floor to drag em across. Boulders ruin that flat surface, would ruin the nets (therefor discouraging said fishing) and gives little hidy-holes to many different crabs and fishes and so on :D
Today, I decided to wear a shirt that says, "The beatings will continue until morale improves." and I watch the part at 41:09, where Damien says the same thing. Edit: the time is 41:09, not 40:50.
33:30 To clarify how the rocks work and why they are placed in the first place, deep fishing is a form of fishing where the net is dragged across the seafloor. The addition of heavy objects with jagged edges ensures that any net that encounters one will be torn to shreds. As the risk-profit calculation is completely skewed to the risk side, fishing vessels will avoid these locations. Greanpeace does this to create pockets where fish colonies can survive as fishing is no longer possible in these areas, thus counteracting overfishing. Greed today by destroying the future of one's own profession is something I cannot wrap my head around.
Here's a little secret: The fee for paid bathrooms are not going to upkeep. Paid bathrooms are literally the filthiest and most unsanitary places I've ever been to.
37:00 Chalking tires is used to see if a car has been parked in an area for "too long." E.g. The street might have a "Parking for 2 hours only" restriction, so the guard/meter maid would mark the cars and then return in 2 hours. If any cars still have a chalk mark at that time, they get a ticket. Kudos to the guy who posted that one for being so kind as to clean up their tires ^_^
That is NOT kind. There is a reason for those parking restrictions, stupid! Generally, those restricted parking areas are high traffic and need high turn over of vehicles. By allowing people to park there for too long (it is NOT a bad thing as you imply by using quotation marks), the "good Samaritan" is leading directly to the INCREASE of traffic and congestion.
@@protoborgThe people _live_ there. If the area management doesn't provide enough local parking spaces, that's their problem. People still need their cars in walking range.
58:39 And the unfortunate part about this that they're not going to tell you is everyone he helped is now going to be hounded by the Agency to return the money they shouldn't (according to the Agency) have received...
I love what 10:22 says so much. It’s the aspect of Christianity so many people who claim to be Christian’s blatantly ignore. Sincerely, someone going to Bible college.
33:21 it scares away the fish. Also they most likely do it in areas that are used for fishing the most because the fish will stop going where boulders are dropping to.

PLEASE tell me that got changed😭
@@Ashakins123 i dont know about emergency medications like epipens and insulin, but as of 2010s they were still making students keep their medication in the nurse's office in at least some places. Thats what i had to do in elementary school, it wasnt vital medication so maybe its just certain types of medications, but i had to go in 2 times a day to take my medication for my adhd and a mood regulator for some behavioral issues i was having (nothing red flaggy, i still cant fully regulate my emotional response to stimuli, and when i was little my emotional responses were particularly bad due to me being too young to understand how to self regulate and even out the spikes, one of the more frustrating problems of autism spectrum disorder that i could never reign in fully)
But yeah, TL;DR, they at least still did it in the 2010s where i grew up for at least some medications, so its sadly not impossible to imagine somewhere there was a school around that time having similar policies about emergency medications
why did Greenpeace drop boulders to discourage deep fishing?
deep fishing involves scrapping the bottom of the sea floor with metal nets. the process breaks off the tops of coral and disturbs bottom feeder. boulders dropped in the area get caught in the nets and destroys the equipment discouraging the practice... so yeah, chaotic good
this info brought to you by a Pokemon fan, the damaged coral inspired Galarian Corsola and its evolution Cursola
This is what I needed in life, thank you emkay, I shall now go on to be chaotic good.
swear to god, the bee movie is just the 2nd coming of shrek. Both are insanely memeable and both have been used chaotically. Shrek has 'Shrek is love Shrek is life' and Bee Movie has its whole script.

I love the fireman one, because that guy is doing what a fireman should do: Help people in need, ignoring whatever other people have against it...
a child was in need, its their job, neigh their passion and purpose in life, to do whatever it takes to rectify that to the maximum extent of their ability. Thats why people become emergency responders, to save lives no matter what threatens them.
The story is a wonderful example of why firefighters, among other emergency responders, deserve respect. It might be their job but its something that changes lives.

"Boulders to disrupt fishing":
- It's supposed to stop the type of fishing where they drag nets across the ocean floor (i believe because it massively impacts everything living on the ocean floor)
"Chalk markings on tires"
- It was preformed by private security of an Hoa. You mark the lowest point of the tire. If you come back and the mark is in a different position, the car had been moved.
If it hasn't been moved the HOA will fine/tow.

The boulder would prevent types of fishing gear from being dragged across the bed of wherever they're placed, as the gear would be damaged. This serves the purpose of protecting the more delicate marine life further down in the depths. I just did a quick google search though, so there may be more to it.

The chalking tires is a thing to, theoretically, make sure people aren't leaving derelict cars parked along the side of the road in a residential area.
But in this case, it sounds like it was intended as discrimination or a means to fulfil a case quota by impounding cars they knew wouldn't be moved often enough.

Fun fact: the bread that's used to make panko bread crumbs literally has no crust.
the story about using a computer (~31:00) in school reminded me of my school in germany.

And apparently, the shelter told the guy he can pick up the cat the next day, so he could've waited until the next day to pickup his cat. I don't really know why he resorted to raiding the place if they were going to return his cat to him the next day
45:35 I love doing that. I put garbage, leaves and grass clippings in the envelopes they send. It's a beautiful thing.
25:19 my history teacher taught me about this. All hail the spaghetti monster 🫡
I can totally relate to the school insulin story. My school required me to keep my RESCUE inhaler in the nurses office. All it took was one asthma attack and me calling 911. My mom forced the school to pay the hospital bill, and they got into a lot of trouble for locking an emergency medical device behind a door.
55:00 Personally I love 영노 thank you
also Lexi's pronunciation was pretty good just in case you were self-conscious.

So the guy arrested for 6 successful surgeries... Pay for his degree, cheaper than jail, and you get a legal doctor.
Which is actually kind of brilliant
i love lexi she is booming with positivity ❤

I'm gonna have to drink some vinegar to get over how increadibly _BASED_ that is.
acids are cringe, got it.
Lexi: This wasn’t me!
Me: *SUREE BUDDY*
33:00 this works against drag net fishing which harms the ocean floor. Putting boulders down there snag and rip the nets

33:25 im pretty sure the boulders could first of damage the equipment and as someone who fishes sometimes it could also scare the fish away

33:21 it scares away the fish. Also they most likely do it in areas that are used for fishing the most because the fish will stop going where boulders are dropping to.
