  • Somehow, I managed to get the humvee the body on the frame all by myself! I can’t believe that task is accomplished. I think it looks ugly, but it’s gonna be taking shape real soon!
    Will start laying all the sound, and then in the next video.
    Music: epidemic sound

    Duramax is cool and all, but I honestly love the sound of that 6.5 Detroit, I could listen to that all day. I'm glad you have both!

    It looks fantastic!!! A piece of art in the making plus I love the license plate! One question, with the Duramax conversion, do you loose the 24 volt system and go to 12 volts? I had an Olds Cutlass sedan the was a diesel, bought it with a blown engine and did a swap out with Olds Rocket V8, kept the dual 12 volt batteries since I kept the diesel starter which was literally twice as large as the standard starter, never had an issue starting it in the cold Ohio winters plus that engine being stock was a real screamer when tuned properly. Kept the Hydraboost master cylinder as well. But I wish GM had placed filters on the output line of the power steering pump. It took a dump and sent metal into both hydraboost and steering system. OUCH!
    It never fails there will always be something that irritates one.
    Waiting to see your finished masterpiece.

      That sucks about shooting metal into your system… yeah ouch. Yes converting it to all 12v. Just wonder about the wiper motor, might just go really slow.😆

    Maybe I missed it in a previous video, or you address it in a later one (I've been binging from the beginning of this build, so I'm not up to date yet)... What's the solution to the driveshaft hitting the gas tank? Do you need to relocate it or are you going to modify it in some way?

    • @SplitBuilds
      @SplitBuilds  Год назад +1

      I had to put a bastard u joint in there. Be honest, I can’t remember the part number off the top of my head. I did put it in one of the videos.

      @SplitBuilds You might look up some rear steer humvee videos, those guys use heat to modify the tank so the new parts will fit.

    Hi, it looks like it took you about two years to redo the humvee n with the Duramax. Did you basically do it full time like a job or after work? I run my company but I have a lot of spare time and I’m in the process of Duramax swapping my 1997 civilian H1 wagon land want to do pretty much everything you did…just wanted to know if it was basically all you did for 2 years or if I worked on mine 5 full days a week would I finish it earlier. Thanks for all the info your videos have already helped me out a lot!

      @SplitBuilds  11 месяцев назад

      Yes, I have a full-time job, I do not work on the on the five days a week, and I also got divorced. So it fell off from being a priority. But you could easily do it probably a year a year and a half and that’s taken every single bolt apart and rebuilding a lbz. You could do it.
