I love her laugh, she seems like a happy person who enjoys the simple things in life. How refreshing watching her when she caught a fish. I really enjoyed this video, thankyou.
Gemma, you make a great presenter
Thank you!
That's amazing Gemma, I was taken to Ireland as a 14 year old on a sponsored fishing trip, one of the best experiences of my life and learned so much wishing with world champions 🏆 🥇
Well done Gemma!! Nice looking pike you caught there. We get lots of Walleye and Northern Pike around here in Ontario Canada and yellow perch in Lake Erie in Southwestern Ontario.
It was a great day, I love learning new things and seeing new species of fish!
Really good to see you take on fresh water fishing Gemma.
Totally different to sea fishing isn't it! But I really enjoyed it, and Simon was a fantastic teacher!
We've got redfin perch here in Oz and I can tell you that they're good eating! Good lures for them include small minnow hard-bodies, spinners and curly-tail grubs usually in yellow or orange. A lot of the same lures can be used for saltwater fishing too.
A basic rule of thumb is that fish from moving water, such as the sea or rivers, tend to fight harder than fish from still water like a lake or pond. It's because the moving water makes for fish that are constantly 'excercising' versus fish that are more sedentary.
You don't buy lures to keep them, so don't sweat the snags. Quite often when fishing for predators, if you're not getting snagged regularly then you're not casting in close enough to the structure they're holding to.
It looked like a very nice session. Well done!
Perch was a staple food in the summers here in Sweden, in my family at least. You just pulled food out of the water! Amazing. We used plastic bottles with a hook, and some line, bait was roach, threw into the water and pike would take us for a merry ride :-D It was a small lake, but lots of fish, if you had the right bait. We had the right bait. Perch and pike is still on the top of the list of tasty fish.
I don't even eat fish! But I do enjoy fishing and releasing them!
Your boat was on the tv saving life’s at sea
Welcome to northern Ireland Gemma
Thank you, such a beautiful place!
You're hooked! Welcome to the club.
I love it!
good day fishing, and a good experience, my fav was when Gemma re-acted to her pike, lol
I thought it might eat me! And it was hard to hold it as I was scared my long nails would hurt its mouth!
Love to take you and Simon out for lake trout if you ever wanted to fly over to the states.
Perch are so good to eat
Perch, we call them Red Finn in Australia
🤠
My brother was the fresh water one me sea all the time. He had me beat for years 25 pound pike. He does not ken I beat him lost touch. But Gemma did well.
The further you drive the boat the more fish you find.
You can catch perch and pike in the ellesmere port canal, coulda saved you a trip 😉👍
But I wouldn't of learnt what I did from Simon!
Sorry, Gemma, but that's rubbish; you could have gone to anyone in thousands of fishing clubs in the GB and been taught just the same. all angling clubs have qualified Coaches who will teach you all about fishing; no need to go to NI to learn what you could lean here.

I never had to fly to go fishin! I guess you went "fly fishing". 😆🤣😂😐👍
😃
Hey I'm in early too waay
When they get a bit stronger they'll be doing it to the towns and cities
Gday guys
Hello!
Neawanna big fish come. That's a West African good luck fishing cry. :) nice work
Gemma, you haven't quite got the casting right. If you watch Simon, his cast is an overhead arm and shoulder flick, while you are twisting from the waist, and casting with a side-swipe. That's ok from a beach, but in a boat, you are going to be risking hitting whoever is there with you - with your rod. It's also less accurate, if you want to keep 'hitting' the same spot.
It was the first time casting from a boat, I definitely still have a lot to learn and improve on!
those perches look a bit fishy 😂
EELS are slimey
When the description said "lessons from a pro" I assumed this was going to be a collaboration with @snaggedbro 🤣
Simon is a very talented fisherman, and he was a fantastic teacher
