I'm partial to some early Oasis. Their first albums were near masterpieces. Still got an extremely soft spot for their energetic, raw songs like Roll With It, Some Might Say and Supersonic but hey, Little By Little, Crying your heart out and Cast No Shadow shows Noel writes some potent rock ballads as well.

@@sammyhatton6481 It may not be your favourite but you can't have a greatest hits album by Oasis without Wonderwall or Don't look back in anger. That doesn't mean they're necessarily the best but they are definitely the best known. It would be like having a John Lennon greatest hits without Imagine on it.

Imagine the best of the Stones without Satisfaction or the best of the Police without Every Breath You take or the best of U2 without 'with or without you' (no pun intended). There are certain songs that should be on every artist's greatest hits whether you like them or not. I mean for me with the Beatles most of their best songs are the ones on the albums or the B sides but I still would feel robbed if I bought the Beatles greatest hits and it didn't have Eleanor Rigby on it.

I'm embarrassed at Oasis. They got so full of themselves thinking they'd be bigger than the Beatles (but they copied the Beatles for a lot of their music, combined with Status Quo chords)
They did a few memorable songs without doubt, but their publicity was bigger than their talent. People got swept up in the whole Britpop/Cool Britannia thing which is now utterly cringe worthy.
The Lego haircuts, the swagger. They thought they were it. But it had been done before. I honestly think, if you look at other bands of the same generic genre as Oasis, that The Verve were the more talented band musically, but they didn't have the hype.
The Beatles conquered the world. Oasis thought they would. But many people around the world these days wouldn't even know who they were, so much is their true legacy
