I don't get why Windows ME gets so much hate. It actually had some pretty good features that lots of people take for granted today. (e.g. System Restore) Maybe it's bc I didn't grow up in the '90's, but running Millenium Edition on a VM (virtual machine) is actually pretty smooth.
I have used Windows ME on two different systems. A 1999 Fujitsu T-BIRD home PC seems to run it perfectly. However, the same can't be said of my 2005 HP Compaq dc5000. I think it maybe struggles with the newer CPU (Pentium 4) and the 'large' amount of RAM (1 GB).
Yes, but all the features you had to pay for (except for system restore) in Windows ME were available for 98 SE for free, so if you could have (almost) the same features and better stability for free, it wasn’t worth upgrading
At least, I could watch the process of upgrading from Windows 9x to Windows ME once time in my life. Because I was born in 2000s and I used to use the oldest Windows is Windows 95 or newer windows like Windows XP since I was a child 😊 Thanks for making this video to fulfill my curiosity 😍🥰
Curious: how come the Windows Me boot splash screen stays up so long for you on this demonstration? Whenever I've used Windows Me in the past (at the time it was current) or on a VM, the boot logo only displays for like half a second. On another note, I never had a problem with Windows Me back in the day - it seemed more stable than 95 and 98 to me. Not having real mode DOS was a bit of a pain but I remember installing it on a P200 with 32Megs and it ran better on that machine than 98 ever did.
technically Windows ME is built of the 9x kernel witch is what windows 98 is built off, so windows me is more of a 1 to 1 clone of windows 98 but with some new stuff in it. also the downgrade joke has been done to death, WE GET IT WINDOWS ME SUCKED GET OVER IT
i actually like how when after it restarts it does into some sort of "dark theme"

It needs to be the center of attention just like windows vista.
It’s not because of smoothness they it recieves so much hate, it’s because of stability (or perhaps more accurately the lack of stability)

Try using MS-DOS fully in Windows ME. That's one reason.
Even though windows me was hated,It still had extra multimedia features such as Windows Movie Maker

1:26 for some reason ALL the people in the Windows ME setup were all laughing except that one woman.

To save 4 minutes and 33 seconds of your life: Basically your PC becomes a useless piece of metal.
Until you uninstall Windows ME.
