- Which thermal imaging camera is better? UNI-T UTi260B, Guide PC210
Bas compares in this video the very popular UNI-T UTi260B with the quite unknown Guide PC210. First, the importance of infrared resolution is explained, and afterward, the two thermal imaging cameras are compared to each other by doing some tests. Lastly, the importance of using a macro lens is discussed for inspecting, for instance, electronics.

I was going to by UNI-T UTi260B, but I've ordered Guide PC210
Did you like the guide pc210 so far? Any complaints and would you make the same choise again if I may ask?
How do you like it?
Thanks for the comparison. It is made with 2 products that your shop is selling. Any chance to make a comparison with a Flir camera? The Guide camera is almost unknown on the market and before spending 400 EUR on it some other reviews would be of great help. Regards.
obrigado ajudou muito meu amigo
Max/min points (as well as the "centre cross") can be turned off on PC210.
Does anybody know if there's any software / drivers that would allow live feed to mac os...?
Good comparsion! Please make the review for guide pc210 separately. Why modes fusion, pip and MSX the visible image shift up with IR? It has the alignment setting for combine images in one image like in Uni t?
I think You can't compensate parallax error with PC210 - at least I did not found this option in my camera. Pity, because IR image with edges from visual camera are really cool.
I wonder how they got around the flir patent. Afaik flir has that edges superimposing patented
hello, i have a uni t pro device, when the image is saved, i can't see the photo as secrets, how can i see the last photos taken
I am waiting for you to compare the guide PC 210 and the iray C200 se
could you upload a comparison of the images from the PC210 and the PC230?
wonder if there is much of a difference between these two
PC230 has autofocus and the lens is more a tele lens than the PC210. We think in most situations the PC210 is a better choice. The focal distance range of the PC230 with the macro lens is very small, so it beats the purpose of autofocus.
We have added the PC230 to our website. One of the images shows photo's of the PC210 compared to the PC230 with and without macro lens.
Is the parallax adjustable on the PC210? The visible and ir images are pretty misaligned
The target distance where the PC210 can achieve dual-light fusion is 0.5~8m. Within this range the alignment is calibrated to 1.5m. So to achieve the best calibrated overlay of IR and VL images use a target distance of 1.5m. The alignment is not (yet) adjustable.
what kind of lag are you refering to...when you say less lag on the potplayer?
If i remember the 260b had horrendous lag, like a second or two, and made "live view" quite cumbersome.
what kind of refreshrate do they operate with.. still the ITAR regulated 9hz.
but they should really put a manual focus on these handheld units.
Flirs older more expensive units had manual focus, like fx E60 and also the ex series if I recall' and many of the current dongles to a few hundred likewise, also manual dial focus...
It makes a big difference.. sure an added 10USD Chinese ZnSe lens in a 3D bracket, can change the Focus point.
and it goes without saying the Guide210 had way clearer image.. the 260B almost looked like it was misaligned, or geared to a focus point farther away.
If i work on electronic I tend to use such a setup here.

The UTi260B/C200 has 25Hz when not streaming, but when streaming it drops to 15Hz. I bought the 260B with the original macro lens and it has very clear image up close. Without it the focus is about 2m away.
Uti260 is better than infiray t2l/t2s?
Thank you for the review. But please, can you tell me about this thermal camera? Can I use it in the forest for birds and animals? What is the viewing distance? Thank you
Yes you can use it to spot wildlife. You could also consider the Infiray T2 pro phone module, it has a telescopic lens and is more suitable for small animals like birds: eleshop.eu/infiray-t2-pro-thermal-camera-for-android.html
I took your advice and bought the pc210 I thought about it for a week so I hope it will be good. Its alot of money for a noob like me xD
Whats your opinion?
Are there any apps that would allow me to stream the output of the PC210 to an iPhone?
Not that we are aware of
Is there a manufactor site available for the Guide PC210?
The Guide IR page is here: www.guideir.com/products/thermographys-tools/pc/data_23.html
Can you please provide pictures with the macro lens on a board for both cams?
I want to order one of them, but heard only good things about the UNI. I need two pictures of both macro lenses for my final result which one I'm going to buy.
On your purchase page, the infrared picture with a macro lens is exactly identical for both, the Guide and Uni-T Macro Lense. This can not be true.
Thank you
The example macro picture is taken with the PC210. Later this week, or next week we will release a video which shows the macro lens on both the PC210 and the UTi260B.
@@EleshopVideo Thank you! Another great addition would be to test the accuracy of both devices. But the most important thing for me is the direct comparison of the macro lens image for PCB work (Finding shorts)
@@EleshopVideo looking forward to the video! After it I will buy the camera

Any chance for firmware update for this unit? camera works ok in auto range mode, but both manual modes works wrong. Also it doesn't work in live mode with dedicated software, and in proposed by eleshop PotPlayer image is mirrored.
Hi Marcin, a firmware update is coming. It will solve the issues in manual modes. With ctrl + z you can mirror the video in PotPlayer.
@@EleshopVideo Good to know. Best.
where the new firmware for uti260B can be downloaded? I'm currently on stock 1.1.22 (never updated the fw). I know that 1.2.28 or newer is available.
Please send us an email and we can provided you firmware version 1.2.28 and instructions on how to install. In your email you can add the following reference: VXQ-VSPLP-118
Guide PC210 looks a better buy....
Hi! Can you compare it to InfiRay C200 or C200Pro ? It seems that UTi 260B is identical on the outside to the InfiRay C200.
Also on the inside. The hardware is the same in the most important parts. Search for the the threads for 260B and C210 on eevblog's forum. Others and I have posted images with the teardown.
Do you know which Sensor the PC210 and the Uni-T use? Is it the same manufacturer?
@@danbarb9728 PC210 use own sensor TIMO256-x0, Uni-T uses Infiray Tiny1-C
@@ridewithl0ve ah Thanks, i go for the Guide MobIR S2.
@@danbarb9728 good choice, but MobIR S2 has narrow angle 25°, are you decide for what purpose you need that model?
My 3 cents: 1. Uni-T has paralax compensation, which PC210 poesn't have. 2. PC210 can be set to constant thermal range (e.g. -5...+10 deg), while in Uni-T image is constantly "fitted" into full registered themperature range all the time (if I am correct).
The temperature thermal range lock is a very cool feature. Please make a video of how it works in practice. This will probably save you from very cold sky, when the gradient of warm objects is completely lost. For example, when viewing the facade of a house, in the evening and a clear sky.
@@ridewithl0ve Sorry, I am not "content creator" :). When You have a camera, you can check it by pressing "mode" button for several seconds. Them display mode selection menu appears, with 3 optios: standard, fixed range (where you can limit range to eg. 10 degrees, and camera processes image +/- 5 degrees around average temp), and fixed mode, where you define low and high temperature. The way of setting levels may be initially little annoying, but it works.
@@marcinp.8108 You can record Shorts. There are few videos on the Internet about the functions of various new thermal imagers, this market is slowly growing and the Chinese are helping a lot in this, making the technology accessible to almost everyone. I think if you did an overview of the menus and functions of the pc210 a lot of people would find it helpful.
What’s the better camera (I need one for detecting shorts on a pcb with smd) in your opinion? Does the parallax compensation matter much?
@@limebulls See the infiray T2L
Can this camera be used to detect leaks in floor heating pipes ?
Yes, both are suitable for this application.
You say one has 4x the resolution of the other one but under the specs you list the exact same resolutions.
Is it possible to connect to another display screen? Can I turn on the phone screen on the device with a live view? Type C
You can only connect it to a PC and use Potplayer to view the stream.
@@EleshopVideo
Thanks
Is it possible to record video with the PC210?
If you connect the PC210 to a PC using USB, you can record the video with Potplayer.
@@EleshopVideo has the PC210 received a firmware update to address the fixed manual range or is it still pending
@@doa_form The firmware has been released and can be downloaded from the PC210 page: eleshop.eu/guide-ir-pc210-thermal-imaging-camera.html
Do you know which Sensor the PC210 and the Uni-T use? Is it the same manufacturer? I actually like the look of the uni-t more, it looks a bit less cheap compared to PC210 but if the PC210 has less lag and sharper image i would go for the PC210. What about warranty of both? I heard that Uni-T sometimes have dust particles on the sensor straight out of the boxm what about the PC210?
Warranty is equal on both, 2 years if you buy from us. We have not seen a PC210 with dust particles on the sensor. You can judge lag, sharpness, speed and design from the video.
Если сменить програмное обеспечение, uti 260b качество становится лучше?
"If you change the software, uti 260b does the quality get better?" As far as we know a firmware update has no significant impact on image quality.
Вы сравнили показания на близком расстоянии. Как выглядит изображение на расстоянии 5-10 метров!?
"You compared the readings at close range. What does the image look like at 5-10 meters away!?" That is a good subject for the next video, but between these two cameras I expect that the result will be similar on 5 - 10 meters.
The bottom of the hold of the PC210 looks removable. Is it possible to remove the battery?
It is not a removable battery.
@@EleshopVideo Thanks for the fast answer. That means when I want the advantage of a changable accu it requires nearly the double price like for the Uni-T UTI720E. 🤔
@@AkkustikSynth Indeed, there are no thermal cameras available with 256 x 192 resolution and swappable battery in the €300 - €400 price range. We think this is a missed opportunity as well.
96x96 or 120x90 pix would also be sufficient for my purposes. The cheapest I saw was the VOLTCRAFT WB-80 with 32x32 🤔 maybe a better infrared thermometer, but with camera and removable standard batteries for 110€ 2 months ago. 😥 But I own a multimeter of this Conrad brand, so I won't a thermal camera either.😉
@@AkkustikSynth 32 x 32 pixels is extremely low res compared to 256x192. For me 32 x 32 is a toy, not a tool. Battery lifetime of the Guide is very good. If, after 5 years or so the battery is old, it can be replaced by an electronics repair man. It is a simple 18650 cell. Removable battery is a nice to have, but not a must have in my opinion.
Is your uti260b camera still working? I purchased one and it just died after one charge. While charging after an hour or more, just died and that's it. Does not react or turn on. It is said that it has a serious problem of the manufacturer. When charging it just burns. I found no evidence of anything burned inside it. Is your camera still working for you? There are no spare parts at all for her.
We sold hundreds with little issues so far. If you have bought it from us, we will replace/ repair it under warranty.
the guide PC210 is almost twice the price as the uni-t.
Here in Europe the price difference is about 10% - 20%.
