      His mother asked for mental health, I had problems to get mental health for my husband but thanks to a judge order he had to assist to the psychiatrist. It was a car accident but there is too much stigma around. There are new laws for mental Illness now, we can go for a member of the family. I'm very sorry.

      @@ajakuk1 Thank you, he just had a car accident and his mind mixed. But trust me he his much better, the Government helped him by law, he had to go to Psychiatrist by law, they gave him a studio and his monthly money. So people now don't abuse him now and he does not need to bother the family for help. It was not easy for me to bring him to justice, but I explained to the judge that he was innocent. Doctors and social workers helped me during 9 years and I did it for me children. He was in danger and now is safe, but I wont say is very easy. The UK broad new laws now for members of family to come closer. In countries like Canada or Spain they can't internet, I know in USA they can. It depends on social awareness and families. It can happen to anyone. I had to separate because they blame it on you, but it was my way of loving him (sending him to court). I wrote about a new form of bringing this issues, not in court as a judgement, even do the judge was not judging him and he suggested him very kindly. Many hugs for all around, this issue has affected me somehow.

      The problem is that the main users of shotguns are farmers (a very powerful lobby in this country) and landed classes (composing a significant percentage of the cabinet, including the PM). Nobody should have a licence to hold a lethal weapon.

      @@WH-hi5ew You're the first person I've seen who has pointed this out. Increasing amount of mental health issues are themselves a symptom of other problems in society. We've abandoned a lot of traditional values which we've spent thousands of years perfecting, selecting instead for rapid progressive changes for which we have zero understanding how they'll play out on wider society. Mental healthcare is extremely important but it's a bandaid over the real problems which is why this is even happening in the first place. I suspect mental health issues are increasing in young men in part due to lack of fathers around, many of the social changes such as rapid increase in divorces and single mothers are a serious problem, so we need to look at why those things have increased and why families are breaking down.

      @@WH-hi5ew Apropos to this I've just finished watching Jordan Peterson talk with Warren Farrell about the importance of 2 parent families and how important both roles are for balanced development of children. Shockingly he predicts an increase in school shootings, citing the majority of shootings with at least 10 victims are from boys who lack a father in the home. I believe this podcast was recorded prior to the shooting so it's almost spooky to see how relevant this is. As you say it's probably shares a common source with these other social problems, I knew of both lonely elderly problem and self harm especially with girls, but I'd never really connected those dots as clearly. That's real food for thought, appreciate you pointing that out. You should definitely watch the podcast I mentioned it's full of extremely interested related facts/data ruclips.net/video/IpPr5i1aHjE/видео.html

      @WH-hi5ew 3 года назад

      @@Frosty-oj6hw Enjoyed the podcast though I find Peterson more of a natural polemicist than social scientist in this context. i.e., I'd argue that the erosion of two parents families is itself (like the other issues) a product of the underlying economically driven changes in society that occurs in post-industrial society. That said, another reason why school shootings and indeed general homicides are much higher in the USA vs UK, is that the former is flooded with freely available handguns. Indeed now in greater numbers now than there are actual people in the USA itself! Just like climate change, abortion and Covid-19... the gun issue is seemingly held immobile in the ongoing US culture war.

And most shocking of all labelling the situation as an angry individual instead of addressing the matter in question. Them matters being how in a country that supposedly cracks down in access to guns has a young person owning one & also to why after coming forward about their struggles/problems, Mental health treatment is still rejected or out on a waiting list. Rejection of MH therapy is why things like this happen. It happens in the US everyday to which some cases don’t even make it it to the news.
    May the victims rest in peace with condolences to the families. And leave that poor community & neighbourhood alone for god sake. They’ve been through enough and don’t need knocking on theirs doors for fools like you reporters. Let the community grieve and reflect and try see what can be done next to make future potential incidents like this preventable. The government have some explaining to do about these fire arm licenses being handed to anyone willy Nilly. Firearms that only should be used by armed forces, police or farmers.

A farmer does not need a shotgun, there are no dangerous animals roaming the countryside (except possibly his bulls). I don't care if it curtails some people's enjoyment of clay-pigeon shooting. Go and play a shoot-em up computer game. The risk to wider society is too great.
