I don't think he was being a contrarian at all, just honest. What requires the least amount of thought is to just go along with copy/paste society instead of having your own opinions and views that dare to challenge the norm. Those that are stuck in the social norm bubble, will never understand those outside of it because it makes them feel uncomfortable.

@@Filthypile, oh, but he is. I've watched quite a few of his videos at this point. They consist of little more than declarations of categories of things he doesn't like. I'd respect that if he actually had explanations for his dislikes or suggestions for how something might be better or, well, anything that displays critical thought. He doesn't. He simply burps out his dislikes and, by his expression, seems to think he's being edgy or clever. He's not. He's merely boring and derivative.

This is a fantastic performance from Ren and the Big Push ❤❤❤ the vibrato from Ren's voice is just part of his vast vocal range, maybe slightly Jamaican but its a Jamaican song...weird comment😮. Allergic to guitar solos????😅😅😅😅. Well that's a new one. Too negative 😝
This is the last reaction I'm watching from this guy.
The main point of watching reaction videos is the vicarious pleasure of seeing someone else enjoy music you enjoy. And maybe if the reactor has some expertise having them break down lyrics or talk about technique.
But i don't get the point of watching someone who doesn't actually seem to enjoy great music. And who makes it about themselves far too often.
I feel this guy needs to reconnect with whatever passion made him a musician, because right now I'm not feeling it at all.
Hes seriously clout chasing. And making it known he's being fake at the very end when he says great track.

Ren beautifully incorporates Caribbean sounds of Reggae authentically.

Since you asked, what I find weird is a reactor "allergic" to solos (I assume you mean listening to them) and picking a cover and right away "This is my " least" favorite song by Bob Marley. I heard you say that about others. Also an honorable mention, you say you want to hear some Ren originals (you've mentioned that in your reactions) and myself and others list some of our favorite Ren original songs, yet you pick another cover. Yep, that I find weird. The Island and Jamaican reactors absolutely love Ren's accent flavor he uses in his music. They say it's hard to master in the music and sound authentic, but Ren pulls it off. 😊

I always preferred Bob Marley Ska years more than his Reggae years, The Wailing Wailers is my fave album of his, Ren is totally in character using a Jamaican accent with being brought up with a strong Jamaican influence, it's pretty normal here, Britain is the second home to Ska and Reggae after the Windrush generation settled here along with their culture and music
Oh dear ! I have watched a couple of your Ren reactions now and am beginning to wonder why you bother. You seem to come from a position that you are determined not to enjoy it. If you offered some reasoning for your indifference that might explain your attitude. Some of the comments that you made, that others have quoted in their comments, ("allergic to guitar solos", "weird that he sings with a Jamaican accent", not into the actual songs they played) make me think that you are not worth watching. A musician that use to rap but no longer likes rap? A musician that only like 90’s rap but did not appreciate Dead Prez Hip Hop. A musician with a guitar sitting behind him but is allergic to guitar solos. A musician that likes Ska music but didn’t appreciate any of the songs? You ultimately pick which songs to react to. So, I'm trying to like your reactions, but why do you react to Ren and his performances if you don't like his material? I listened to you react to Diana Ankidinova's performances and they were mostly positive. I appreciate that, and I appreciate your commentary on her but if you don't enjoy Ren's material, then simply react to other artists. Believe me, there are many reactors that love his stuff, and promote his music. I've been listening to his performances and really hope to see this artist continue to create for years to come because he has been fighting auto immune disease while putting out quality material which inspires many. If you don't care for that, all good, but I would hope that you would simply move on to something else that you like and allow those that support Ren and his material to support him. Just a bit of critical input from someone that deals with autoimmunity issues and is rooting for this artist to succeed in a very competitve market.✌
Not sure why you keep reacting to ren - you realise he is talented but every song you have reacted to seems to be a song or style you don’t like!

I’d suggest doing reactions to music that you are actually into, then maybe the videos won’t be so weird and flat!
You all know he is going to go through all Ren's songs that are covers or where he raps, just to say 'I want to hear an original where he sings' People have given him names of originals to react to but he chooses to ignore.
As a fellow Swede I get the feeling that you're gravitating towards wanting songs and performances to be "lagom". It also makes sense that you don't like the Jamaican accent, becuase artists are more or less being cancelled here in Sweden for cultural appropriation, so "lagom" is pretty much about sticking in your lane these days.
As someone who likes to watch reaction videos, I'm not expecting the reactor to be overly excited about stuff. I do however like it when they use their personal experiences and knowledge to analyze what they are hearing and seeing in one way or the other. I've listened to vocal coaches analyzing the vocal technique, musicians talking about the tightness of the band despite them not having in ear monitors etc. No one is talking about their favourite Marley song, though, because that doesn't really matter.
This song is about the context of a busking session. It's imagining walking the streets of Västerås and hearing this band, standing in the crowd and figuring out how that would affect you.. It's not about a music video on MTV or selling records, it's about the feelings music can bring here and now, even if it is not what you would put on in the car home. You've been a musician a long time, if you stepped out of being the judge and brought your own perspective I'd bet you could actually give us reaction fans some value for. our time.

I think guitar solos are one of the the best parts of a song. Especially a rock song. Nowadays not many songs include them and it’s a shame.
Also, it would be more weird NOT to sing a Bob Marley song in a Jamaican accent 😀 And the fact that he does it so well - that’s what makes it so great.

I've watched Jamaicans react to this, and they appreciated his accent as they thought it respected them and their music.
He really has no consistent genre. All of his songs are so vastly different.
Most people will want you to do Hi Ren, but there’s a decent amount of spoken word/rap and only small portions of singing for effect.
You could do Heretic, For Joe, Blind Eyed, Diazepam for some other originals that aren’t only rap.
I listed those songs (my favorites) every time I comment telling him these are Ren originals, but he reacts to the covers and he then again mentions he would like to "hear originals from Ren".
@@kellyt5341ya - I think REN’s best originals are his rap but this reactor indicated he doesn’t like rap. I like ren’s rap so to me murderer, Wildfire, Right Here, Losing it. I don’t think this reactor vibes with Ren.

This guy is weird though. “I like 90s rap” (like what artists though dude) and won’t give a single other Ren rap song a chance. He also doesn’t seem to like Ren’s style but simultaneously wants to cash in on Renegade’s love of reaction videos.
He just needs to stop reacting to Ren IMO. He seems pretty picky and specific with what musical genres and sounds he likes so he should focus on those.
I cant understand why why he's speaking English its not his mother tongue....To criticise ren for singing in a Jamaican accent is rather hypocritical.

As someone who has opened for Sting, you might be interested in reacting to The Big Push's cover of An Englishman In New York. As far as it being "weird' for a Welshman to sing in a Jamaican accent, my understanding is there is a significant Jamaican community throughout England so Ren no doubt was influenced by their music and culture. Also, you will find as you delve further into Ren's catalog that he is extremely adept at adopting personas and accents that fit whatever song he is singing.
As far as songs Ren has composed himself, his duets with Chinchilla such as Chalk Outlines or How To Be me are excellent. For Joe and Mackay are solo works he wrote for friends who tragically passed in which Ren plays keyboard. All are very deep and emotional.
He has a lot of original music off his Demo's vol. 1 and 2 are my favorite...so many good original songs.
No shame in not being a Ren fan, some of my family members don’t get him either. To each his own. I’d say stick to artists who inspire you.

I wouldn't bother looking for uniformity in someone like Ren, he won't adhere to the structures you would expect and will often change his cadence, tone and delivery for his songs, try listening to 'fire' it's more of a rock vibe and it's his own song.

Thanks for sharing your reaction to this street performance. Not all original but Ren’s Back on 74 performance shows off some of his vocals. In a couple of home videos singing a cappella, Ren sounds just like Frank Sinatra.

Good reaction, honest. Recognizing the talent even if you don't like it. I think you said you don't really like rap and you'd prefer original songs. So here is some of Ren's that could answer your criteria. Heretic, Humble, Dominoes, Jessica, Sweet little lady, Ready for you, It's alright, Diazepam, Dignity, Precious, Heart attack. Maybe you'll enjoy them more. They are all great songs from my liking 😁

This is a great performance to appreciate and dissect but i see what you saying , i myself not putting this in my daily playlist but great show . There their other covers/originals that are more playlist friendly i think , i tell you who i listen to daily , Dimas Senopati , no originals , but great covers with superb vocals , i kareoke myself to his stuff while im driving
