India sledging on the offensive is a relatively new phenomenon, traditionally Australia were the worst sledgers, closely followed by South Africa then England. The great West Indian team were not known for sledging especially the bowlers, their bowling alone was intimidating enough.
Not everyone can say where to bowl and the bowler will follow ,it's because ms dhoni had such a command and tactical brain that bowlers knew that whatever he is suggesting will work for sure Miss him ❤️
Great work once again. Hey Gabe, just so you know you don't have to apologise for being delighted by England's performance as an Australian fan. In fact that probably proves you are an Australian fan. The whole of the country is just so excited about England's performance. Australians love the fight. The loudest applause will go to the one that fights the hardest. There is deep respect for England at the moment. Every commentator I am listening too can't give them enough praise.
@@johnwhear9600 Ha, ha, - ok John you got me. But I was talking about the middle of the bell curve not outliers. But truly does anyone think that Chappelli's opinion is worth anything these days? I find myself listening to him and saying to myself, "I know that you are one of the greatest cricket thinkers of the last 50 years but have you really thought about what you are saying?"
Greg Chappell gave a very good interview on sledging recently. He said there was a lot of sledging in the 70’s & 80’s but it was mostly good natured because all the players were friends with each other and if you misbehaved you had to explain your actions. Then as the professional era progressed the players were less familiar with each other and the sledging eventually became toxic. Now with all the t20 franchises the level of sledging is returning to what it used to be when everyone knew each other well.

You couple that with how many games Jimmy has actually played, it all makes sense why he has the most not out in cricket history. The funny thing is, with that Stat, his average should be higher🤣🤣🤣
Many years ago West Indies superstar Viv Richards was batting in an English county game . The English bowler beat Richards outside the off stump three times causing the bowler great frustration He stood in the middle of the pitch after doing it a fourth time and said to Richards “ it’s round and it’s red ( the ball) why don’t you try and hit it “ The next delivery Richards hit a massive six . The ball sailed out of the ground and into a local graveyard . He then said to the bowler “ You know what it looks like ( the ball) why don’t you go and find it “

P.s Chahal and kuldeep were a different breed with MSD behind the stumps
One of my favourite sledges was from the 90s when Steve Waugh was sledging Graham Thorpe who was in the 90s, and Waugh kept telling him he’s just playing for the not out. Next ball he comes down the track and tries to slog Shane Warne and gets stumped. Steve Waugh winding him up led to him throwing away his wicket
Gabe Kohli was making a joke with Shamsi He was his team mate in IPL that season and Shamsi was batting against Spinners that's why Virat was making dat Chest pad comment 😂🤣
And Aus gets so much grief for chirping and sledging... :-) Cricket is like watching a swan gracefully crossing a lake, under the water there's legs and feet doing all sorts. :-) Back in the 70s and 80s aussie batsmen reckon the Pakistan fielders would swear at them in Urdu...

Good bowlers don’t need a keeper to constantly tell them where to bowl. In fact, good bowlers tell keepers what they are going to do. There’s a video of both Warne and McGrath, while bowling, explaining what they are going to do, what they want the batsman to do, and what they say is exactly what happens. And it wasn’t nuffies they got out - it was Brendan McCullum and David Warner respectively.
It would be less obvious if it was in a language that both teams understood. The good thing about India having their own languages is that they can communicate clearly without the other team knowing their plan.
Australians are seasoned at sledging and more smooth. They were the ones using this strategy initially and just getting little of the medicine back. Indians are new at it and still awkward and more " in your face" kind.
Check out Jason Gillespie's highest score. Gillespie came in as Night-watchman for Australia vs Bangladesh and has the highest score ever by a Night-watchman.

Why? I never watched cricket when he was playing on the Indian National team. Nor have I ever heard him on the mic stumps. If it’s based on the era then I would have assumed and I’d rather ask or be honest and not know who it was then pretend to know because I’m afraid of admitting I don’t know it all. Too many people these days pretend to know stuff for fear of looking dumb. It’s a problem.
