So you get the form factor, battery life and performance of a MacBook Air, with excellent repairability and the ability to uograde the SSD. Microsoft has come a long way.

Please ensure that you disable BitLocker before proceeding, as failing to do so may lead to complications.

Interesting video. To make it better, I would add links to all parts and software used. Also I would add links to for this work on the Microsoft web site which would have the price. Tahnks

Thanks for the video! When I did this on a Surface Pro 9 a year or two ago, I had a horrible nightmare of needing bitlocker keys before it would boot. How did you avoid this? Thanks!

I think that is because your drive is probably encrypted by bitlocker, to disable bitlocker do this:
Start > Settings > Update & Security > Device Encryption > select Turn Off
After you do this, the next time you upgrade the SSD you won't have any trouble like this.

WOW! That seemed incredibly easy! Now watch me take 30 minutes to do it and still mess it up haha. How much for you guys to do this? Just in case....

I have a question. If you swap the hard drive on the Surface Laptop 7th generation, 15 inch or 13 inch, swap or change the hard drive to have 2 TB on it, then the question is, is this AI still there after you've swapped the hard drive instead of and booted Windows so that Windows starts normally and is completely normal without AI after you've now just put a new hard drive on it so that it's without AI after you've swapped the hard drive and then booted Windows 11 and restarted normally, is it without AI or how exactly is it if I may ask? :)

Hi. I upgraded my surface exactly as you described, i.e. Cloned The System on new ssd and installed on motherboard. System is booting Fine but Keyboard and mouse trackpad is Not working anymore, except Power Button and Finger Print Login. So, Keyboard seems to be connected correctly. What went wrong?

Their disc sizes are priced like Apple. It's even cheaper to buy the 256GB capacity version and upgrade it to 2TB than getting the 512GB version. On top you get a 256GB drive you can put into a USB thumb drive enclosure. Although many Apple's now have chips soldered onto MB. Sad the way it's developing. RAM is soldered except gamer and heavy duty business machines. Really make them 2 mm thicker which I'd happily trade for ram in sockets as well. But at least isn't worn as SSD is. No excuse IMHO for soldering SSD - and in Apples case at least those I've seen they havent really been faster. All about saving a connector and denying the consumer the option to upgrade other than get more e-waste.

Best Buy and the Geek Squad suck. I had them work 2 of my PC's and they broke my laptop screen and was taking my family photos of of my gaming desktop and saving then to their flash drives. The employees at Best Buy and Geek Squad are Rude, not knowledgeable, not techy and can not fix anything. They over price and expect a automated software to diagnose, repair and setup your devices. They also have a third party remote into your device. I took this issue to their store General Manager and corporate office and was banded from Bet Buy and Geek Squad for life. After this I drove 2 hours to Micro Center in Ohio where the staff and Technicians fantastic, friendly, knowledgeable, answered my questions, educated me. explained everything,, was patient with my and fixed everything. They has all parts in store and did not use third party to do the work. They had a A+ CompTIA Certified Tech work on my devices. I would recommend Micro Center to anyone.
