If you throw the world market/economy situation on top (the salaries companies have to pay their workers nowadays, especially in the tech sector) as well as the fact that "AI ready hardware" like GPUs can be sold for so much so every company will ask for more just bc they can (every one of you would do the exact same in their shoes, every single one of you), the fact that there have been gigantic performance increases in rasterization and especially in RT/PT, the fact that Nvidia has improved their software features by a crazy amount (who pays development? who pays Nvidia working very closely with devs to implement DLSS etc.), the fact that they made DLSS upscaling so good that every Nvidia user that plays on 1440p or 4k will/should use it all the time and they are still improving it as an ongoing project - if you calculate all those things and put them ON TOP of the almost (699$ but inflation adjusted to 2024) 1000$, then you can easily see why the prices are where they are. EDIT: oh I forgot something that also plays a massive role - look at the build quality of the GPU coolers/frames back in the day and look at the massive things we get today. The coolers alone are way more expensive to make. Then the higher speed memory, the always smaller processing nodes are always getting more expensive the smaller they get. The higher power cards need a lot more hardware on there to make sure they dont blow up. Those things are other reasons that you have to throw on top of all the stuff I listed. One more thing - Nvidia regularly shoots out drivers for old cards, so the ongoing driver development for old hardware hast to get financed. AMD isnt keeping their old cards up-to-date as long as Nvidia for example. And then there is the ongoing R&D of future products, which is always getting more and more expensive. Another thing that could influence future pricing - US bans export of 4090 die to China. This leaves a dent in income, who pays for that? NV isnt allowed to export/sell anything more powerful than a 4090D in China. This is true even for the 50 series. This means NV looses a ton of money from ppl who would buy a 5090. I think almost no one is looking at all those things objectively. Im sure NV could sell most of their GPUs for less and still make a good profit on each item BUT you cant ignore everything around it. Taxes, also a thing. Certain ppl always cry and riot if presidents give tax cuts to "the rich" aka companies, who do you think pays in the end if you take those tax cuts away? its never the company. always we, the customers. same effect as raising minimum wage. Restaurants "hire" robots instead of ppl and/or increase prices for customers. And small businesses will die completely bc they cant afford the robots and also cant take to risk on higher salary and higher prices to end customers.
GTX 590 very rare card..very very few made..I buy PCs by pallets and get hundreds of gpus per week..but a GTX 590 I only found like 3 of them in 5 years..is actually two video cards together have two Nvidia GF110 chips .have two 1536 mb channels and have two 384bit data transfer..so everything is double than the GTX 580.. actually a collector card now
if there was the ability to use DSR then that would have helped you out even better, but frame scaling was your only option unfortunately, i love old GPU videos
It seems like it uses all the vram unlike conventional sli. Would be interesting to see the vram allocation with the 590 in sli it would probably stick at 3gb though but you never know

Hey dude, I suggest you throw in metal gear solid 5 in some of your benchmarks, it’s a very well optimised AAA game that I and many others love, I was able to get through most of the game on a UHD 620 before I saved enough for a 1660 ti :)
It's like two GTX 580s running art lower clock speeds! I guess they did that for heat reasons? One single GTX 580 should beat this card on games that don't support SLI.
