  • Sorry I've been gone for so long!! I've been consumed with getting my garden areas cleaned up (and battling pest infestations), as well as prepping the "she shed" so that I can build a 4'x8' deck!! I have never tackled a deck before, so I was really nervous about getting started. You'll see the deck build in the next video, but in this video, I'm sharing with you all the prep that went into cleaning up the garden areas, including a sneak peek at the new deck!

      Hi BeautyBus, gee, your profile name set me back to the 1960s-1970s when I lived in Washington Heights. I was walking distance to the Port Authority and would catch the busses to Jersey, and to Palisades Park. Oh sentimental me 😢 Have a sweet night and happy weekend 😊

    Lisssten! You are such an inspiration. Just had a "shed" built by an Amish company. I say "shed" as it is a 3-car garage with a loft. It will be a wood shop, bike shop and lawn equipment storage. I keep coming back to your videos on wiring. I too have a deck remodel to do, but on the house. You have me thinking maybe I can tackle it by myself.
    Ipe wood is no joke ..
    Thank you for taking the time to share your projects. Super helpful (even the one about building a gaming PC :) ).

      Wow, what a huge "shed" you got there! Amish-build structures are super high quality, so I know it looks amazing! I'm glad I can help and inspire with my videos! Hopefully it won't take you nearly 2 years, like mine! 🤣 But if you're having fun, take all the time you need. And yes, you could do your deck! It wasn't too hard, just time consuming because each step was new and I needed to make sure I was doing it right! Video to come maybe today!

    Hey TD, spraying your yard and structures exterior is a must. In NC we have these little bastards called chiggers and they are horrible. I also use the bottles that connects to the garden hose. I purchase an extra bottle for my home and shed exterior. I also use foggers for my shed interior. I look forward to seeing your deck, the preview look epic.

    • @ThriftDiving

      Ooh, chiggers are the ones that bite and itch like madness! Yikes, is take harmless clover mites any day! Lol. Actually, all of them are horrible, harmless or not. They're so disruptive! Thanks for commenting!!

    I have a she shed that was home built and I have so much to do for the outside. I wish I had thought about using DE for pests…maybe when I get the outside area done. Yours looks like mine almost. I used the gray flooring from Lowe’s that I had leftover from the inside flooring. I like the way yours turned out. I will have to watch a few more episodes to see the porch and what you plan to use your shed for…I think I will turn mine into a tiny home eventually… it’s just storage now. I also bought the air conditioner/ heater you have. It’s great to see other women do these things.

    Look at caulking where the wood meets the concrete. Also any opening where bugs can come in.

    • @ThriftDiving
      @ThriftDiving  Год назад

      The bugs will come in anyhow, unfortunately. The Tuff Shed system requires the metal framing to have holes for air flow. So even if I caulked that's area, the venting would still allow them to get in. 🤷

    I have never heard of clover mites before (I hope that means they are not in my area, yuck 😁).
    Last year we had an ant infestation; not fun! I threw out my Instant pot because they had built a 'nest' in it-there were sooooo many ants in it 😱. I also hate to use pesticides, but I draw the line at 'bugs' in my house.
    Looking forward to the next video!
