Hey man can you make a video on how to take the fans out and clean them? Maybe a thermal paste change as well?This is my first laptop ever and it took me about an hour to gather enough courage to install a second RAM and SSD after opening it up. It's so different from a desktop PC.

I justt bought this laptop and added 16 GB RAM. So it runs 8 + 16 GB RAM without a problem.

Wouldve been nice to know about the clips that you need to not snap when taking off the cover. A little point-out of where the clips are and/or that you should pull them straight back to pop them off individually
Didnt have a spudger and nearly jammed a flat head in and pryed off as if it was just held tightly, didnt know that it was tons of small breakable (with this method) clips
If you dont have a spudger go for a corner with a small screwdriver to get an initial pry, then get a credit card your ok with ruining a corner of and pry directly up and advance, you should hear pops as you go. Dont swipe with it jammed in cause thats not how the clips release

No ,HDD slot and M.2 2280 slot are used exclusively.
you can only add another m.2 ssd in 2242 slot. if you really want HDD then use 2242 slot for SSD and switch the 2280 to hdd
Guys, whoever opens this laptop.. Please, Please make sure put that Ram cover back properly!! 3:30 if you don't then you will end short circuting your whole motherboard.... Which happened to me, thank god I had ADP warranty otherwise, that small ram upgrade would have f me up real good.

Hey, just making sure, the empty slot for storage is SSD M.2 PCIe 3 x4 2280 right? And the ssd that comes with the unit is 2240? Because I want to upgrade my unit, but don't know which SSD size should I get, and I cannot open the unit as it will break the warranty.

Its little bit late but my laptop (same model as this one) came with 2280, the other slot which Im guessing its for 2242 was empty. My advice would be try to look for brand and model of your current ssd (I think you can find it on task mannager) and search it online to see which one is it (2242 or 2280). So you can buy the other one.

Yes get the exact same one it already has installed. Also find out what is the max amount you can add but 16gb should be enough.
From my own experience, I know that it is possible to install a SSD SATA and M2 2280 drive. It is not an elegant solution, but it works. just remove the SSD disk board from this housing, insulate it for safety and then plug it under the m2 disk. It works quite well, this way I have a 512gb intel ssd m2 and a 2tb sata ssd from adata in my laptop

I purchased this exact same laptop (Ideapad Gaming 3 15ACH6) In Nov of 2022 and had no problem doing a Ram upgrade, but there is NO Standoff or screw to mount a 2280 drive as seen in the video at 1:40 mark. Where can i obtain or purchase one? I bought a 1 TB WD Black M2. NVME 2280, but cant secure the rear of it because the Standoff and screw were NOT included with my laptop, just the threaded hole

I see that most videos have a 2242 SSD installed by default, mine came with a 2280 just like yours. The problem is that I got the bracket/caddy for the 2.5" SATA SSD, but it's USELESS, since it cannot be used with the 2280 SSD... and I already have a 2.5" SATA SSD that I would like to use, but now I'm forced to buy a 2242 SSD AND more thermal pad if I want a second SSD... absurd

I have the same model. have you tried putting a 1TB 2242 M.2 NVME PCIE SSD on the "2242" slot? apparently the 512GB on the 2280 is not enough so I've been wondering if 1TB 2243 SSD would work even though the recommended is only 512GB

Don't use 2242. It's not worth anything and has short lifespan compared to 2280. Also avoid below than 1TB if possible.

@@mabdulhamid8669 In my opinion, you shouldn't really use the accessories as simply adding an m.2 nvme 2280 ssd like the one shown installed in the video would be much faster and less of a pain to install. They're relatively cheap for what they do and they sure are worth it. I'd say get a 1 or 2 terabyte one if you have the budget and play loads of games.

thank you very much, different brand is not problem, just used the same speed. used the same brand is better.
it really doesnt matter too much. you just want the speed to match. both sticks will default their speed to whichever of the 2 has the slower speed. typically people will suggest to use the same brand or just get completely matching ram (often in kits of 2 or more) just to make sure the speeds are right but so long as you pay attention to the specs of the sticks you are using, you should be good. since laptops dont use the same channel setup as desktops, laptops tend to be less picky about mixing ram. it will always just default to the slower speeds. worst case, you get slightly less or equal speeds from before you added more ram, but capacity will still increase.

you can't do that bro. DDR4 slots only accept DDR4 RAM. So does DDR5 slot only accept DDR5 RAM.

it is possible bro. 16 GB is the recommended size from lenovo. This applies to SSD as well, lenovo recommended 512 GB for the 2242 slot, but in reality, you can add 1 TB to that slot and it works fine

Ive got the same one,just got an 8 gig ram stick and now I’ve got 13.9 available and everything I play runs many times better. The stick I got is from Crucial, says (8gb DDR4 - 3200 SODIMM 1.2V CL22)

you can use both, you can use two ssd. if slot 2280 is already used, buy the ssd 2242 and vise versa.

if your laptop has a shop seal, you better go to a service center, and if your laptop doesn't have a shop seal, try not to have a hardware defect when opening it. if you are in doubt it's better to just go to the service center.
