This star was another one of the big breakthrough singlestar timesaves that made it into the 70abc project - after To the Top of the Fortress in WF. In WF we managed to get onto the tower with a much, much faster HOLP, here we managed to get up to the warp without a star dance clip.
@@skill_issuesmo7367 The old HOLP took i think around 3 minutes in BoB The new HOLP takes around 0 seconds during Snowman's Lost His Head, plus a 2 second detour in the castle lobby
for the record: abc has improved so much over the years koopa the quick is almost too slow for the 70 star run. Also i think whomp's is done after the a press.
Wow. Finally finished. Everything in this looks so clean! It was awesome “listening” to you putting this together and finally we get to see it :) is there no way of starting the DR before the star reaches the platform you’re standing on so that you don’t have to do it after?
The cutscene won't start until Mario is on the ground, and it automatically replaces whatever Mario's action is with the idle action at the end, so the dive needs to happen after the cutscene occurs.
The lower floor in the middle of the mesh is low enough that it can be reached with just a good regular goomba bounce. Normally the walls prevent actually accessing it, but by entering the center of the pillar where all of its walls overlap, it's possible to avoid getting pushed out / get pushed in and make it to the floor. The old SDC skip only used a goomba knockback bounce to set Mario's angle and horizontal speed to sufficient amounts. Reaching the center overlap is way more forgiving than I originally thought though, so fifd was able to just DR onto the goomba and still have a good speed and angle.
That's because Pannen's version is just my original LOTAD up to the Eyerok fight, which is the part he TASed. I didn't optimize the movement very well at the time, whereas fifd has been doing a lot of ABC movement TASing and optimization and so his movements up to where I took over on this TAS are pretty good. (in case you're worried, it's totally fine with me that he uploaded it for that video; that kind of documentation is good and there was no need to redo the movement specifically for it)
Neither of the hands even got a chance to open their eyes 😭

@@octi4684 Koopa the Quick would have been too slow for a while, except it unlocks the shell which makes it effectively a 54 second star
@@iwersonsch5131 i forgot about the shell, oops
Awesome work! This star looks so cool with all those strats put together :O
i really gotta hand it to you- this is a nice TAS
Really nice job! The skid strat looks super fast.
No goomba knockback! :O

gotta not jump fast
how did you get onto the mesh with no knockback-bounce?

looks better than pannen's

Push
You didn't stand on the four pillars smh, unsub and reported
not my fault if nintendo gave players bad advice
what is an eru drop?
When mario is walking very slowly and he has positive speed, his speed decreases by 1 every frame. If he has
