David dean was the trap god , came up w all the best tunnels in the game including the time out
I watched that man every mission I did not know how to build
@ReikoReiko TownzenTownzen shut up
David Dean will forever be the goat
Wasn't aiden harris the one who taught him the basic tunnel, then he took it and made timeout
where do I find his stuff
I do miss David Dean, he slowly explained the how, where what and why. He changed how the game was played. And yes, I believe he invented the time out room. Thank God we still have Beast, I NEVER miss one of your videos! Your game knowledge is above all others!
I'd like to mention that knocking zombies into an inescapable holes kinda like basements of houses in a mission do work the same as an edge kill for smashers, husks, and husky husks, while shielders will be alive they'll be stuck until you kill them.
Just to let everyone know the way beast put the floor spikes can be put like that but the slowness that the floor spikes give last 2 Tiles so you could do spike, freeze, spike ect
Thank you
@@cam15x83 it’s ok
Hi Beast,
This is a good video. It serves as a good baseline for trap tunnelling. I’m actually quite happy someone made an up to date video on this topic. I would’ve made a video on trap tunnelling but I’m not certain it would’ve garnered the same attraction as yours for the effort spent. So I post most of my guides on Reddit.
Nonetheless, there are a few suggestions that I would make. Personally, I’m not a fan of timeout chambers and frankly I’ve noticed they have almost become obsolete in public matches. However, when I do use timeout chambers, I recommend adding a ceiling electric field inside the timeout box. The ceiling electric field will hit any enemy within one tile. So, it will hit enemies walking on the path and in the timeout chamber. I also prefer to use a wall dart (faster reload than broadside) on the wall parallel to wall launcher for a similar reason. I would also like to give some much needed love to the ceiling zapper. It is, without question, the strongest single target hitting trap in the game. I usually put one of these at the end of my tunnel coupled with a tar pit as a safety precaution for any “tanky” husks that get by.
Something I’ve also recently started doing is putting anti air traps on floor tiles next to the objective. Why you may ask? Well in missions with propane husks, I’ve noticed when propane husks try to throw their propane at the objective, the anti air will activate and shoot the propane making it disappear.
Another tunnel I suggest people to tryout is:
4 walls (2 walls in line with each other and mirrored with wall darts). Place a 2x2 area of floor freeze with tire traps (2 to 3 tiles high)
It would look like this:
| X X |
| X X |
| = Wall dart
X = Freeze trap w/ tire trap
Simple but really effective!
I’m the beginning of the comments I read it as Vaseline
can you link me ur reddit? I’m interested to check out ur posts
Thanks for the advice
At the end of tunnels if you truely want smashers eliminated use tar pit + 2 broadsides + ceiling zappers. I use this box 3 times in a row and it finishes off smashers on wave 25 solo twine endurance consistently.
I believe it was David Dean that started doing the whole term 'time out room'.
When u gunna upload another video😢
@@UchihaNarutoFTW nope
Beast videos are so relaxing.
thank you for making this
You can use floor launchers to put husks in a timeout room 1 tile up
if you use the double dynamo and double darts with a tar pit on the floor it makes a really good smasher killer, you can add a zapper on top for even more damage
Got back into stw this video definitely helped me epsecially because i never knew how to build or a efficient way to use traps
Thank you for this. I thought about using tunnels but they were a bit janky. Your tips made my tunnels a lot better.
This is the most helpful video I've seen on fortnite traps. Thanks.
Never used half of these tunnels, I will be sure to try them out thanks!
No problem!
Finally! Been waiting for this video :)
I sometimes do snake tunnels and do the stair+floor launcher thing so that I can make a time out room and also keep the snake consistent
Thanks alot as usual Beast is the guy we didn't know we needed help with till he posts about it
10:32 something i don’t know if he mention. always place your traps facing your objective. husks will stagger backwards if you do so. most effective with floor freeze and drop trap
Yeah when I wake up and want a chill vid I go to beast because they are so chill but informative
For the zig zag slaughter tunnel you would want to use a different trap than the broadside because it stops the wall launchers from working
Interesting. Have not found it to be an issue.
Personally I use gas traps and floor spikes because I would rather use my quartz and batteries for my guns
Me too
I needed this beast thank you
In the timeout room, if u edit a window or two in the wall u can lay wall darts instead of broadsides and get double damage. I like the broadsides myself because they normally bounce around when that close together but with a window in that center wall u could still hang wall spikes for shoot left and right but you’d have the other dart on the other wall shooting as well since it shoots thru walls with windows!! 👍 just a nice tip
Also those walls shooting back at them with nothing to bounce off of, I use wall darts on those as well. I do prefer broadsides over the wall darts but he’s correct when he says they need something to bounce off of. If they don’t have that then use a wall dart. Like where they come up over a ramp...I’ll use broadsides on the side walls and wall dart on the wall facing back in towards tunnel trap so when they come up ramp they are getting smashed by both broadsides plus the wall darts and the ceiling trap of ur choice of coarse
Wall darts will also shoot thru stairs!!
I have been dying for this videooooo
This was helpful man thanks keep it up
love the trap tunnel vids!
Top info. Tx a lot. Second prt would b much welcome!
What a beast of an encyclopedia
If u have the resources or doing a ssd use wall dynamos in a box from the pusher traps and place them in the box all around and any trap above and this will stop your smasher problem
Finally :)
Time to see how ya build your traps
a video that will change your view on drop traps and why they go anywhere they escaped the cc nerf and a video that will make you rethink floor freeze video maybe even more useful now as well.
Drop trap: ruclips.net/video/SY08cnIVOUc/видео.html
Floor freeze: ruclips.net/video/B9pHm7fg5nk/видео.html
Just a suggestion, you should do like an advanced trap tunnel video for like endurances or war ganes and include the wall dynamo-wall darts and the extra cieling electric field damage. Help out some people with building endurances
Not my area of interest unfortunately. This style of tunnel actually worked for my Twine Endurance so I lost all interest
I remember a time when Beast claimed, ‘I don’t do trap tunnel videos.’ ‘I review weapons.’ I guess the crowd got to ya huh?!? 😃Understandable & appreciated. I love seeing the variety of builds. Always entertaining.
pretty sure he meant SSD and endurance trapping
Well ya but as I mentioned in the video it's just a very very very big topic and it took all this time for me to come up with a way to simplify it. Even with this guide there are many tiny tricks I use with specific world generation. Could go on about that stuff for hours more
Maybe you could link how drop traps and floor freezes are orientation based ,i think by mitch robbs
u could see he probably doesnt even know about that by looking how he placed drop traps on the tripple stair build with wall launchers
@matija zorko he knows coz mitch robbs was on his stream the other day talking about this
I actually have no idea. Never had an issue with them to be honest. I take the game pretty casually in that regard and fend off anything that might get through the traps.
@@xMistaBeastxGames ok its just with the right combination you can infinitely stall a husky pre nerf with those
Yessss there’s my favorite outro ahaha
My friend just got into stw so this is a great video for him to learn the basics of traps cause he's not very good at it.
nice!
Now we don’t have to watch some outdated trap vids from tik tak or david dean lol
I don't know if they're outdated but aye this one isn't (yet)
David's stuff still works pretty well to be fair. His builds got me through Stonewood, Plankerton and Canny Valley SSDs all the way up to and including SSD 10 for each zone. You'll need to tinker with them slightly in Canny because Epic changed the spawns but otherwise, they're still effective.
I always have trouble getting them to go for my tunnels instead of just breaking through the walls, no matter how many layers of walls I put up
This video has been out for two years and I am just now seeing it. To my knowledge David Dean didn't invent the timeout room but he was the one that named it. Essentially back in those days everyone was experimenting with everything and you were seeing some crazy trap tunnels. There wasn't hero builds and weapon builds as Hero perks and weapon perks were locked, same with traps. The only real thing to experiment with was trap tunnels. David Dean became super popular because he was known for soloing missions most of the time and spending countless hours experimenting with trap tunnels. Many of the trap tunnels designs he came up are still used in some form today Though was the guy that basically changed how fortnight was played. I will give him credit for that. I was playing fortnight way back then and was one of the OGs when David Dean was making videos and was basically one of two fortnight content creators for save the world. Sadly a lot of the traps don't work like they used to and they made some new ones since then.
The video we have been waiting for, from The Master, thanks Beast. Glad you didn't take my suggestion to make a video on Blue and Purple traps, Epic made it unnecessary shortly thereafter!
I wish I would have when it was relevant lol but at least I saved some people from making an unnecessary trap
Amazing vid helped me out so much
Keep it going man . I swear you deserve alot more subscribers
Thank you!
for electric fields, it says the cna trigger in a 3x3 radius but you think it's way more consistent when you put it 2 tiles high?
A very Good Guide
nice video beast
Thanks beast your really helpful.
Thanks for the good beast, helps me and I assume others out a lot
Glad to help
Poggers! Thanks beast ❤️
Thank you, I will be using this.
I did the endurance on plankerton with the build u showed
I really needed this lol
I wish this video was sooner ! Before i anarchically built myself to end twine peak SSD
What's a good defense for retrieve the data that works all of the time? and why is 3 high ceiling drops better?
Expecting best shotguns review since you told us about it.
Ya that just takes some planning
Someone already brought this up already but the orientation of traps does matter when trying to keep husks from reaching the objective faster. Mitch_robbs did talk about this with ceiling drop traps (the mufflers) and floor freeze traps.
I've never found this to matter in normal missions.
@@xMistaBeastxGames It is extremely helpful in timeout rooms, and helps to keep them there for much longer with the floor freeze traps. Very helpful if your traps arent very high level yet.
Just letting you know most of the traps are outdated due to the cc changes and now they won't be affected as much from the floor freeze or the drop traps or wall launchers, you prob want to add more killing stuff to compensate
I made this video perfectly aware of the crowd control changes and these tunnels still work as intended. Zombies will slip through as the cooldown of traps are active so even if there are more than 5 floor freeze or wall launchers they will still be useful.
@@xMistaBeastxGames Alright ty for telling me
The combo I use is: Floor Freeze + Broadside + Tire Trap (3 tiles high)
On the traps that go on slopes, could you replace stairs with pryamids and place spike traps on them?
sure
Just got twine ssd9 done thx to the guide
19:56 I use this with a wall launcher on the next tile to extend the reach for pits and such.
Keep it up love the vids
great video, thx
Thank you a lot beast
Floor launcher are good because they have a higher impact than wall launchers. Both have their uses
For the meems, floor launcher plus 2 tile high stair case Roof to a David dean time out box but trapless With spiral stairs(Edited so away from objective so that The lil half wall and half tile distance separates husk) down back to the floor launcher😂 I wanna see if it’d work as a low level time out that’s hella funny
Another very epic video
If you have a tunnel long enough with timeout chambers, just go full damage on the traps, no reload speed. They’ll be dead by the time they reach the end of your tunnel and having a full damage or full knock back will push the smashers so they won’t be a problem
Sure but what about the wave behind them? You'd create a safe period for any zombie following the crowd that just died
@@xMistaBeastxGames by the time zombies reach your last line of defense, the first line should be reloaded by then if not then the tunnel isn’t long enough. But then it’s just a theory because my traps are currently on double reload and the rest knock back. My last few lines of traps basically never get used.
I seen u streaming this but didn't know what you where doing
And never seen the upload
Woah actually pretty useful
Timeout rooms And trap tunnel perfection belongs to Sir David Dean. A1 did do ally with trap tunnels but the timeout room was David deans
This helped me. Now I know not to put tire traps at a 1 tile height
Great video mate. What would you say is the best loadout for trap tunneling?
Doesn't really matter the loadout. Good constructors are all you need if you are going all in on defense ruclips.net/video/xo07OEzPWaA/видео.html
wall launcher timeout boxes are old tbh. try using a sound wall and make the floor piece a half. you don’t need a wall launcher now as the husk will just walk around the half floor into the timeout box.
I only mentioned it because it works
For endurance/wave defense over the top trap tunnels are great. In a 108 no modifier atlas its pointless and damn right I'm going to stand in the tunnel and shoot. If not than we'd all just be standing there. And most times the ppl who build the over the top trap tunnel dont want to increase the difficulty.
But to be honest I'm standing in a tunnel in frostnite & 160s shooting bc I enjoy it. It's why I play. I go through bows like every other match but why not.
Propanes is why not
Beast: We were down under a cliff. That's the worst case scenario.
Me, with my terrible luck: Are you sure about that?
Cliffs are usually the worst case
@@xMistaBeastxGames I did a 4x atlas yesterday, and 3 out of the 4 atlases were on the edge of a hill, which ment I couldn't build there, so the atlases were exposed on one side. Trust me when I say that's way worse, although cliffs are very annoying too
In the zig zag slaughter tunnel.😂 Could i use tarpits for the floor traps is that still good
Do you ever use sound walls? My understanding is they can be good for propanes so I put some in my tunnels sometimes towards the end.
They can be yes
What is the best heros/loadouts for general missions ?
He has plenty of hero loadout guides, there’s no “best”
Thanks beast your the best
Your Tunnel with broadside Gas trap and freeze ist good but i have a question why you dont do soundwalls in the beginning cause of the propains . Without the soundwalls can the propains Explode in the Tunnel?
Sound walls are nice but often unnecessary
I do trap tunnels a lot..i jus hate when the storm changes direction then tunnel become useless and a waste of time and mats lol
eh sometimes it shifts back
This was a banger
thx
Aren't the wall darts the ones that will just shoot through everything
Let's gooo thank you Mr Beast.
Also what's the best way to gather mats? I never seem to have enough for even a single trap.
ruclips.net/video/T7qAjHUaG0g/видео.html
Yes, the timeout room with gas traps
Hey Beast, I heard that boardsides have some knockback, so they shouldnt be placed opposite to yeet wall traps. Is that true?
I suppose but have not found it to be an issue
Yeah but how do I know from what directions the husks come from?
purple on map
@@xMistaBeastxGames is it already there before defense starts?
yes
@@xMistaBeastxGames thank you
Doesn't matter who showcased it first, it's the game mechanics and basic concepts are ideal rather than unique. Nevertheless, great video... There is an array of combined traps to gain the best outcome... All subjective
Dude, your the best stw youtuber
Didn’t jail building technically get patched since they only can get hit by wall launchers, floor launchers, soundwalls, tar pits, and floor freeze 5 times
Great video
I used gas tar broad and wall Dyno in the lazy build thought I came up with it lmao
It's nothing even I claim credit for. Just a natural way to place em
So much change to traps, what traps trigger the propane?
Seems they trigger when at lie 15% or something. I don't think any individual trap sets them off
Placing broadside on front of the wall louncher is not really good (the broadside have pretty much impact) but if u dont play high level mission the hysks just will die.
It's worked plenty fine for me even after the update
Beast, is it a good idea to combine use of floor freeze or wall lights, with a sound wall, so thr husks start dancing and also are blinded/frozen, or can husks only be affected by 1 trap effect debuff at any one time?
1 debuf at a time generally
Got it, thanks
Gas doesn't have affliction anymore? What does the increase effect duration perk do on it?
How long it's out for
If I place traps in my homebase then later upgrade the schematic of those traps do I need to replace all of the traps in my homebase or will the traps automatically have the updated schematic loaded with it?
Yes you do have to replace them
