Great job, Phil. Now your options are endless. Get Micheal Pethrick over for color. He is really good at matching colors and wallpapering.
I was just thinking the same thing👍🏻😁Get Michael
Agreed. Mikey has an awesome eye for colour!✌️🤘🇨🇦
Yes Mikey can help you with these decisions! You have a great resource there. You'll have to wait I guess until he gets back from vacation unless you can lure him over for a brief consult!
Navy for the bedroom, actually, will offer quite a lot of coordinating options, which, as others have said, Michael would be a great person to consult with to tie the other rooms together aesthetically. You don't want jarring contrasts from one space to the other. On the other hand, you also don't want same scheme... you'll want them complimentary, in my humble opinion. Michael knows how to do this!
I love seeing you excited to embrace making changes to your home that suit your life and comfort zone! ❤😊
Wished I had read your post, first. I totally agree. Michael Petherick is your guy. Please confer with him!
✨How cathartic to get those doors open! Symbolic as well, when 1 door closes, others open…cheers to better things coming your way! ✨
Phil, ask Michael Peterick for his opinions. I don't think you could find anyone any better. He's very talented as you know. I'm sure Billy will lend him to you for advice. God bless you ❤️ 🙏🏻
Coypus don’t like geese, ducks swans etc. I was watching another channel that had the same problem that you have and they got geese etc. It took about six months to a year, but the coypus left. Worth a try.
But then you have the geese poop all over the place 😕
Way to go.👍🏼
@@karenmurray5950 Free fertilizer!
More than worth a try! Those things are a menace.

Phil I just want you to know how happy I am that you're back with us recording and videoing and showing us all the beautiful video of the chateau and you.
When you opened the door, I literally cheered! Small victories!😂
Such great progress!
Phil save that tub (dog washing station for small dog’s). Sell if you do not want to keep as that.
What a difference it makes with the door open, so much light
Actually living in a space for a while does help imagine what you would like…based on what it feels like, morning and evening. Give yourself time to think it through. ❤
Phil you look happy and energised to continue the Chateau progress.
I'm sure you will get many suggestions re decorating ... it's nice to see lovely 😊
Wow what a huge difference to the light in each room now those doors are open.
Hi Phil, I hope the natural works. If it doesn't work quickly try a blow torch works every time. 😊
Phil I watched a video today of a guy using a propane garden torch to snuff out the veg in gravel, between pavers, etc. Would be my go to if I had a need.
Navy blue and white look fantastic together; to me, it's always imparted a nautical feel to a room. With the chateau being on an island, that would be quite appropriate!
Phil, you are doing great.
Crack on!!
Anna from (how to renovate a chateau) is a fashion an textile design an has wonderful taste an even makes her own wallpaper. Give her videos a look you might get some good ideas or even see something you like. 😁
Most importantly, stick to a realistic budget. Check out interior design apps where you can play with various color palettes, room(s) configuration and future plans.
A decorating tip that has helped me decorate multi-room color schemes. Take one color from the 1st room and include in the color scheme for the 2nd room. The same idea for the 2nd to 3rd room transition using a different color that is in the 2nd room and include it in the color scheme of the 3rd.
Great idea for main floor but bedrooms can all b different!
Yes dark navy walls for bedroom and maybe navy wall and white tiles in bathroom, white bathroom suite and navy towels etc
Love the navy blue bedroom idea with gold trim and white paneling! Dressing room walls can be navy and gold large stripes(paint, not wallpaper). Bathroom bright white
Everything will flow together.
I love the rug in the master bedroom, a room done in the same navy blue as the rug with white trim would be amazing!
Michael has great taste, maybe a little chat with him as to paint colors.
I like your cries of triumph!
Dark, medium, light blue in the same hue👍🏼😀 primary bedroom - dark, bathroom - medium, closet - light😀
Wow! What a transformation already! When that first door finally swung open, I said out loud "Wooo-hooooo!!!"
And then finally seeing all the light streaming in was incredible! But the light wasn't just in the room, Phil, it was IN YOUR EYES!!! And that was such a beautiful thing to see! Keep up the good work there, and the vision will unfold in the process! The white and gold on Navy sounds amazing though, and there's all kinds of ways that the theme can flow into the other 2 rooms. New wallpaper with navy blue in the print, etc, for the dressing room and bathroom, etc. It would make a beautiful flowing and coordinated look if the 2 side rooms were decorated fairly much the same. Less planning and figuring too. More peaceful and elegant, and less busy than 3 differently decorated rooms I'm thinking!
Congratulations on a great start to a big project, but you can do it! And you're not alone, we're all here rooting for you!
A cheerleader, from Washington, USA!
Ahh Phil. Don't worry or stress too much right now about the color schemes/decorating side of these rooms. Get the demo done first, the layout next and the other ideas will come as they may! Although white, gold and dark blue sound pretty good!
Sprinkle rock salt on the weeds. Natural, non toxic, yet lethal to the weeds! No mixing, no shaking, no sprayer! The rain makes it infiltrate to kill the grass. Botta Bing, botta boom! Easy Peasy!
If you're going for dark navy walls white and gold panels you could do white walls and dark navy and gold panels in the bathroom so your following the colour through just a thought.
I think the navy/white/gold will be beautiful in the bedroom. I don't think you need to have all three rooms matching, maybe one element tying them al together. A navy/blue and white bathroom would be lovely. It will be great to see all that wall paper gone! It's going to be a beautiful suite.
Great progress. Phil, and I just love your victory laugh! Your happiness is infectious. I think your own ideas sound brilliant and perhaps go with them. Too many suggestions adds to the confusion sometimes. Well done looking good. 👏👏💝💝💝
The worst part of home repair/remodeling is undoing someone else's buggery.
If the bath is still usable it would make a great doggie bath, or even for other small animals, might be able to sell it.
I like the color choice for the bedroom. Don't overwhelm yourself. Do one room at a time now that you have the doors open. Taking on to much at once can drive a person mental. Great progress Phil!😊
Hurray, you did it Phil! I can see your vision even better now. I love the idea of Navy...very rich., but not too much gold.
Salt alone will work. Use rock salt. Spread it with a seeder and then wet the ground. Nothing will grow there for 2-3 years.
Really? I’m going to try that! Thanks
I would be concerned that with the first rain any residue would get washed into the lawn and damage that.
For those that don't know salt is very good at killing plants and needs to be very carefully applied and only where you definitely don't want any plants to grow in the future.
I need to try that! I am in Texas on ranch land. We’re having issues with rattlesnakes, so we are fighting the brush growth.
@@catherinekilgour2563 thank you for this warning. I need it on grass in my driveway. I think salt is better than chemicals. I have been using the recipe Phil is using. It works, but I need to reapply for a while. Thank you for your advice.
@@deniseroe5891 I’m in Texas too! Luckily no snakes here!
Terrific! Navy and cream and gold is a great color combination. You can do navy striped wall paper in the dressing room, and in the bathroom, lighter blue and black and white granite. Or try and get a granite that matches the fireplaces. I love that you'll be able to do a shower and a bathtub in a room that large. Gold taps. I hope you use glass around the shower so you don't block out the natural light. You could do a masculine nature mural on the wall in the bathroom in blues and cream and gold too. Keep the tile in the bathroom easy to clean. Anything with dips and grooves is gonna drive you crazy cleaning. Think about painting the ceiling navy also. You think it would make the room smaller, but actually it won't. Paint the ceiling in the dressing room a color from the wall paper (if you go that route) also. Everyone forgets ceilings. Will you do a carpet in the dressing room? I like the wood floors in the bedroom, but you will probably love having carpet in the dressing room when you might be barefoot. When thinking of what to put in the dressing room, take stock of what clothing you actually have. What do you want access too quickly, and what can be put away. Take stock of your shoes also, and think of how you want to access them. Will you do your toiletry (drying hair, skin care, shaving) in the bathroom, or in the dressing room? If you want a place in the dressing room, make sure you make it a nice easy place to get too. Anything you have to work to get at will make it a drag, and you won't enjoy the room.
I hope I helped give you some things to think of. My dream bathroom is like a Japanese bathroom with tile all over, open shower, deep tub. Enjoy your day and thanks for your time.
Oh, I almost forgot, do you want a coffee area in your dressing room? A little fridge might be nice to keep from running up and down to the kitchen.
You’re inspiring one man band Phil x having both doors open makes a huge difference x
You could make the pink room half on suite and half dressing room and make what is now the dressing room a comfy study/sitting room. The bathroom bright white, the dressing room cream, masterblue/white/gold, and the sitting room green/white/gold. Hence, a Master Suite.
Yes, that would make sense. Otherwise it’s a long way to go to get dressed once you have showered
Excellent use of all that space. The study, sitting room with discreet fridge and beverage station.. Only problem, too comfy, Phil would never get all the other jobs done.
30% vinegar , 1 cup of salt and 6-8 drops of good dish detergent !!! No water mixing ! All organic but watch vinegar as it is highly concentrated and can cause burning or slight nontoxic fumes ! No 5% vinegar
I see your vision and know you will achieve it. Go Phil!
It’s going to look beautiful once you’re done. It feels so much lighter in those rooms now.
Dark navy and the white and gold.. Perfect
Nice job, Phil! I look forward to watching it come together.
Strip off wallpaper prime and paint white easy fresh and clean - later u can think about color
How exciting this revelation. The pink room, since the plumbing is in there, should be the bath en-suite for the master bedroom. The opposite room off the master bedroom, a closet, dressing, sitting room. ALL three rooms would be BEAUTIFUL with the navy, white and gold, throughout each.
I’m so glad to see your excitement in redoing these rooms. You’ve hooked me in even more now, than before when you first started your channel. Good going Phil!
Well done! Feeling better and better. You have good instincts, trust them. You’ll get there and you’ll feel wonderful. Your house. Your concepts. 👍😁
Weeds can be sprayed with Epson salt and vinegar. No chemicals.
It would be nice to have a colour scheme that flows from room to room, it would look so impressive when the doors are open.
For now you can get used to how the space looks and how you plan to use it. ❤
A bathroom with fireplace 🎉🎉 pink room at end a reading room?
So the pink room will eventually be a "master on suite bath"? Love it! I'd go white in that room, old style subway tiles, hints of gold to blend in with the master bedroom and dressing room. Huge tub, large walk in shower, taps, toilet etc. For the bedroom and dressing room, love the dark navy color, lots of cherry or oak accents, a manly, gentleman's style bedroom. Large 4-post bed, wing back chairs in rich leather on either side of the fireplace, cozy, and warm. A retreat to go to when the rest of the chateau starts driving you bonkers. :) Of course, just suggestions, but love where this is going. You just got a new sub! :)
You should consult with Billy Petherick on decorating ideas. He has great decorating taste.
Think about a French navy colour. It’s a bit lighter and richer. There are many, many shades of “navy” blue. You’ve got time.
I’d like to suggest that the dressing room stays light and less coloured- white with accents of colour through artwork. When you’re choosing your clothing you want it to see the true colour and not be influenced by the wall colour.
Also I love the navy idea for the main bedchamber, and suggest light blue for the bathroom…. It’s calming and will clearly correspond with the bedchamber.
that is what i use for my weeds, best done when the sun shines on it!
If you really want the dark navy in your bedroom, there are so many shades of blues you can use for the dressing room and en-suite to blend the rooms ! You can do the dressing room even white and bring in the blues with drapes and a rug and artwork.
Good job Phil, Chateau's were made to have a suite of rooms you can walk through. In this modern age, that smaller bedroom will make a great bathroom.
Yeah! Open sesame! Great job Phil!
Phil, I love your research into the history and tales of the Chateau. It will be fun to hear what you learn.
The homemade weed killer only works on live plant tissue. It will not control weeds for 4 to 6 months. If table salt is the type of salt used, the salt dissolves and will seep into the grass. Used repeatedly, the vegetation next to the driveway will die from salt damage. A better option is flame weeder. A propane bottle powers a flame about 10 cm in diameter. A few sweeping motion over the weeds destroys the plant, and the plant carcasses will be brown in a day or two. If used when the weeds are less than 5 cm, very little raking will be needed as the plants literally disintegrate. The flame weeder will kill larger plants. It just takes longer for the dead plant to disintegrate Research for a flame weeder. An example is the GLORIA Thermoflamm Bio Professional Plus set on Amazon France. With your skills, you could make your own.
That blue and cream carpet is a very nice colour palette.
If you go Navy blue walls and white and gold trimmings in the bedroom, then do white walls/tiles with Navy and gold trimmings in the bathroom, the two rooms will tie in nicely together. Giving each room their own distinct color ambience. 😊
Phil. Every vlog you are becoming more of who I think you really are, you’re twice the man you were a year ago.
Great stuff!
Gravel clean. Consult castle ten Berghe videos, with your skills you can make a rake as he has , pulled behind your car regularly makes an impeccably clean driveway beggar all effort
Phil, what is your favourite colour? What colour makes you feel calm and relaxed? That is the colour you make your bedroom. The bathroom, I think a nice sky blue with white and gold. The dressing room a dark colour like you said a navy. If you do the dressing room dark, then the next room a bit lighter than finish off with the bathroom being the light colour.
Weeds try boiling water ,repeat on new growth you will win ,geese noisy but good alarm ,would need housing as foxes like them too!
Looks so wonderful with all the doors open. That wallpaper in the future bath is a bit much. Love demo work, not the clean up. What ever you decide it will be beautiful. Get Michael, he seems to have a gift with colors.
Suggestion: Make the dressing room into a dressing room/ huge closet. The pink room will be a beautiful bathroom. Unless someone else might be using that bath, I would remove one set of the doors. Glad to see you moving forward and making the chateau your own, the navy sounds like it would be a great choice.
Here in the states, coca-cola can be used as a weed killer, but I don't know if the European formula is the same.
Great job, Phil .
And I hope your weedkiller works.
Navy white gold. Classic
Navy is a stunning color. Works with a host of secondary colors.
Put a bit of beetroot juice in your mix so you can see where you’ve been!! 👋 🇦🇺
I have faith you will sort out design options you want Phil. So far you have done well with your choices throughout the chateau. Unless you are in a hurry I’d say give yourself whatever time you need for inspiration to arrive regarding these rooms. It will be wonderful to have that tub out and reopen the space through those rooms.
Phil, you have thousands of jobs going at once, the inside of the house the outside of the house the garage fixing cars and also your bar that you own. You do your best but nothing seems to get finished and you need help. Even though you won't take any help you need help. I hope you can get everything done in time. Much love from Oklahoma USA Jackie 🇺🇸💖
Hey Phil, the white vinegar, epsom salt and dish soap works but you have to re-do it a lot. I do it all the time and it also works best the morning of a sunny day.
Whatever you decide Phil im sure it will look amazing. Look foward to seeing it when all complete.
Don't know if this is of any interest, but I used wallpaper cover up paint recently, to cover up a (horrendous) large, brown flowery wallpaper, as I wasn't up for loads of repair work if I took it down. It's white, obliterated the flowery design & gave me a great primed surface to paint the colour on. Literally saved me days of work.
Loving the idea of the navy blue. A deep forest green could look stunning & time period appropriate in the bathroom & a lighter colour in the dressing room , so that you can see better?
Yeah Micheal really has an eye for design. It's going to be outstanding. Good luck with it Phil I'm sure whatever you do it will be well done.
Love the navy and gold idea, maybe do a blue suite? You could go with shades of the same blue or do a white and navy wall paper in the pink room and white with blue and gold accents in the dressing room. Of course it is your home so do what makes you happy!
Well done Phil it's going to look amazing, I think dark colours will look amazing navy are black with gold trims ,
Phil keep the polystrene
Its great in terracotta pots
Underneath the compost
Better then stones
I think navy blue will be very charming. But yes, the pink will clash. a yellow in the pink room may work, Yes Michael Petherick will give you very good advice.
Love the dark navy blue and dark gray color scheme! You could add gold or copper to accent it!!
Dressing room and bathroom in white with navy trim and gold accents. Master Bedroom in Navy with White trim and Gold accents. A nice navy bedspread with bright white sheets and do your head board in Navy too. Figure out your bed and draperies - then pick the paint to match it's much easier to match paint.
Hi Phil, well done on the doors. The view down through the 3 rooms is very beautiful. With looking out on the bridge major bonus❤ Trust the capping of pipes and bath removal goes as smoothly.
Colour scheme I would leave it for a bit. I do like navy, white & gold gild. Make your repairs, clear out the rooms. Better to have a blank canvas to work with! 1. Dressing Room 2. Master Bedroom 3. ?? A stupendous en-suite. Have fun deciding. Best wishes Judith 🦋
That's going to look great, Phil! Seeing all the way through!
Boiling water first up kills the weeds Phil, then if they persist your concoction should finally nail them.
Just sleep in there before you decide on what and colours . Then you will know the feel of the room Phil ❤
I love your thoughts on colors in the master bedroom. I’m so happy for you that you got those doors opened. You now have endless possibilities. Very exciting. xx
Phil I have always seen your vision. It is going be so brilliant when you have it completed.
Looking Better As You Open Up All The Doors.
There is a difference between household vinegar and industrial vinegar. The latter works best for weed abatement. We know from personal trial and error.
Going to be fabulous
I think Little Green does color consulting when you buy their paint and wallpaper. It might be worth looking to a professional so that the dressing room, the bedroom, and the pink room have a unified flow.
I love the light and space it created when you opened up the doors to both adjoining rooms to the master. I would suggest doing what is called a 'Mood Board'. Get paint samples, material samples, curtain samples, print off designs and colours from the internet of rooms you like. Put it all on a board. Thsis way you can see and play around with colours and options together. Anna does it from How to renovate a chateau without killing your partner. It's a very simple and effective way to design your room. There are many videos on youtube that can help you. Good luck!
BEST WISHES TO YOU
Use a b low torch.
Looks great! Love seeing the doors open. Also, the navy blue will be perfect in the master.
Phil, rig up a sprayer on the mower or cart so that you can spread the mixture more quickly and effectively. We did it for our 10 acres and it works really well!!!
I love the idea of that room being a huge bathroom
I like your ideas for your bathroom. The dressingroom could be somewhat lighter but giving a nod to the bedrooms colour schema. Make a lighter room by adding a lot of mirrors and gold.
