Some reflections on this video - I used the "natural" preset for the exposure merge and found the resulting tiffs were resistant to manipulating in Color Efex Pro. I used PhotoLab successfully, ClearView in particular to get more punch into the shot. If I had used the "Detail"or "Dramatic" preset in Affinity I could have got close, but there are a limited number of presets so I wonder if Nik HDR would make a better job of the HDR at this point. It certainly offers the photographer more choice and control. Please note - I say this as a Photoshop user with 10 years experience, I'm new to Affinity Photo! Happy to be corrected by somebody better versed in the detail!
@@philippedevos7369 Thank you! A process is gold dust in this type of photography, distraction is the enemy - I've lost count of the number of brackets I've shot manually where I've been distracted and come back with two identical shots where I should have had a dark and a medium...
It could have been. I use Lightroom to catalogue my pictures so PureRAW suits that scenario, but yes, if you use PhotoLab you can use that. Exactly the same (except PureRAW has a newer noise reduction process available if you need it.
Hi, are you having problems with DXO Pure Raw when the re-imported file/s are being changed from L/R Process Version 6 to a lower version (in my case ver 1) Thanks
@@russellwebb3672 interesting. I’m not seeing that. My process is - 2 finger click on image, choose Export and Preview and Process with PureRAW 4. Once in PR I apply the noise removal algorithm and tick whatever extra choices I need. Then I export to Lightroom as a dng. There is no change to the process version. What steps do you take?
@@chriswrightphotographs Open image in L/R, send to DXO (does not matter if you send for preview or just to reimport direct to L/R, once image back in L/R check your process version. I use the DXO plug-in installed in L/R to send to DXO.
@@russellwebb3672 Same as mine then. I see no change. I wonder if it matters in that you can change it back. My concern though is if it is making this change for you, what else might it be doing. Worth taking up with Support just to see if they can replicate the issue. They'll need OS version and all Software versions.

Yes, the video was very clear and understandable. Thank you for that process explanation.

Excellent video and very clearly explained!

Nicely done sir. You deserve more likes!
Thank you, that’s good to hear!
Beginner question. Could the first stage not have been done in Photolab, I thought that Photolab was effectively PureRAW +.

@@chriswrightphotographs Thanks Chris, I would have been gutted if I had to buy PureRAW too
