You make a strong assumption that he had the money when the video dropped.
Considering that it took him a month to actually donate, it's obvious that he had to liquidate some assets before he had the funds. Since he's already a clown and a criminal to anybody who knows how to use a calendar, coming out swinging was the last resort he had. His career is over anyway, but he hoped he can scare/cry/"open hand" slapp away a criminal charge.

You'd be surprised how many people out there are just like Jirard. My former brother-in-law was the exact same. All he had to do was admit his wrong doing and make amends. But no, he kept going like the world was wrong and only he was right. Many, many things are left unaccounted for - 600K is not all the money he raised over the years. He was directly lying every year saying funds were going to numerous charities. In the end only ONE of them got SOME of the money after TEN years. He also lied and said all bits and donations to his channel go to the fundraising, then recently claimed that all went to him directly. There is also the fact that the money today is not the same value as it was 10 years ago due to inflation, and the loss of opportunity of 10 years of research that could have been building towards something. I think they had it in the market building interest for them to pocket, and maybe try to pocket it all if enough time passed unnoticed. Its why it took weeks for him to eventually get the money out and pay 600K. Some real shitty stuff going on. The saddest part is some of his fans immediately taking his side when its very obvious they were doing some shady shit. He needs to be in jail, charity fraud is so messed up.

The whole "I'm gonna %100 every game I can" shtick was a fresh new take on gaming, that I'm really surprised to see(specifically the summarized descriptive version he does, so I'm not just watching some sweaty ass gamer mash a controller for 20 straight hours on a livestream) was new for the gaming corner of youtube.
Prediction: Next we're gonna be hearing all about how he didn't even play the games, probably didn't pay his friend who DID, and some company has more control over his online personal than even he does(not that any of this excuses his actions, as far as I gather this charity was all his creation)
That just seems to be the series of events for "influencers" these days.
      Edit: Moral or the story:
      DON'T
      DONATE
      TO
      CHARITY EVENTS!!!!!
If you see a charity you wanna donate to, just send the money directly to the organization, and cut out the useless middlemen.
All of his angry fans could just as easily have donated to the Alzheimers foundation(or whichever one he was "promoting") and at least they wouldn't have wasted money to stress over, just another youtuber running a scam that they were lucky to avoid.

Whilst I do not side with Jirard and I find what he did abhorrant, my only concern is that one cannot accuse another of fraud without a proper trial and conviction. Such an accusation constitutes slander and Jirard must have consulted legal counsel on this matter. I am not familiar with the legal system of Karl’s country, so I cannot comment on his case. However, I know that in the US, libel and slander laws are very strict, as a close relative of mine recently won a lawsuit against someone who falsely claimed that he was engaging in disability fraud. Despite the apparent evidence against him, my relative proved that the accuser was negligent or malicious in making the false statement. Therefore, the accuser was held liable for libel and had to pay damages. Without a conviction of fraud, the statement that he committed fraud is not factual. It is akin to providing financial or legal advice without the requisite credentials or license.

    • @KoinzellGaming
      @KoinzellGaming 10 месяцев назад +5

@@DigitalViscosity In the US slander refers to false accusations that are lies with intent. The accusations were not false here based on the sheer amount of proof coming out straight from Jirard's own mouth. You don't need a completed audit to see that Jirard is a really bad dude here because anyone who understands the English language knows that he clearly claimed to have sent money to charities when he sent them nothingv. The only way this backlash should end is if there's a 3rd part indepth audit and everything related to the inconsistencies in accounting and also the statements he made gets explained how they are legally "ok" - but we all know that it won't be ok for him or his foundation. At this point if the IRS doesn't audit him then that's a failure of the US govt.

    • @minxironwood
      @minxironwood 10 месяцев назад +2

@@DigitalViscosityI think your mixing up a lot of different info here to get your conclusion. That close relative won their case because the person slandering them had no evidence to back up their claims. Not because there wasn't a proper trial. In this case, there is more then enough publicly available evidence to make the conclusion that there was charity fraud. Jarard directly said to donators that he was working with charities and that he was even the number one donator to the UCSF. While knowing nothing was being donated. Don't need a full trial, to say that was charity fraud...when his actions are the legal definition of charity fraud.

The Completionist is the Lebanese Taxi driver of charity fundraisers.
He tells you it will cost $3 to get you in the cab, during the journey he tells you it will cost $5, and when you reach the destination he tells you its $20, and if you dont pay up he will call the local police. I have travelled a lot in Arabic and Muslim countries and its all the same grift: Its not technically stealing if you appropriate money by conning people, persuasion, or pressuring them.
Jirard is an absolute grifter who somehow thought what he was doing was ok because he was not "technically" stealing..... until he "actually" started stealing.
Mark my words, when this all gets investigated it will turn out that he raised $4-5 million.

That feel when Projared blindly defended him, not knowing Jirard already threw him under the bus in the same call in the video. Jared is actually entertaining to watch again, and has been for a while with his randomizer runs and stuff on RUclips or streams. Throwing JonTron under the bus too isn't exactly wise because he actually has connections to do a lot of what Jirard said he wanted to transition into.
He's also equating Jon and Jared's incidents with his nonstop lies and fraud. Jared's life imploded, and Jon pissed off people. Jirard and his family's shady decisions to hoard cash lead to losing a metric ton of value that could have helped so many people just living with the disease, even if it didn't "go straight to research only."

Never underestimate the power of a lie or people's willingness to swallow the lie or be an apologist for the liar.
There are people serving life in jail for serial murder where the evidence is overwhelming and there are people on the outside arguing their innocence and these are people who never heard of these killers before they were caught and convicted.
There is a good proportion of society who are driven by defending the most heinous behaviour of others.
Jirad already had a large base of fans before and a decent number of them will continue to support him and claim he's not really guilty even if he outright admitted guilt.

      1 John 3:15
Whoever hates his brother is a murderer, and you know that no murderer has eternal life abiding in him.
(If someone truly is a racist, they hate their fellow human being who was created in the image of God, and is a murderer in the sight of God.)
      1 John 3:27-28
27 “You have heard that it was said to those of old, ‘You shall not commit adultery.’ 28 But I say to you that whoever looks at a woman to lust for her has already committed adultery with her in his heart.
      James 2:10-13
10 For whoever keeps the whole law and yet stumbles at just one point is guilty of breaking all of it. 11 For he who said, “You shall not commit adultery,” also said, “You shall not murder.” If you do not commit adultery but do commit murder, you have become a lawbreaker.
12 Speak and act as those who are going to be judged by the law that gives freedom, 13 because judgment without mercy will be shown to anyone who has not been merciful. Mercy triumphs over judgment.
Racism (I'm talking actual racism, not the "one size fits all" accusations of racism by activists who use the term to demonize their enemies) and perversion are just as immoral as fraud/stealing.
JonTron, ProJared, Jirard, you and I are all guilty before God and are no better than one another.

@8:00 - I think ATD is right, this is ~80% of Jirard's backlash right now is from they way he choose to respond to the videos. Based on how Muta & Karl released the videos, I think there is a good chance that if Jirard would have come out immediately, and (1) confirmed that what Muta & Karl reported was correct, (2) take full responsibility for willfully misleading the public,(3) commit to making the donation before Christmas, and (4) promise improved internal controls and commit to complete transparency going forward, then Muta & Karl might have backed off to see if Jirard kept his promises, and saved the videos about the golf-tournament analysis for a different day.
I'm not claiming this is what actually happened, it's just my theory based on the timing of Muta & Karl's second wave of videos which were released roughly a week after their initial videos. To me it seems possible they were waiting to see how Jirard responded. I think Muta and Karl were pissed after a week of baseless attacks from Jirard's fans, all while he remained silent, so Muta & Karl released their second wave of videos (covering the golf fundraisers) to really drive home the idea that not everything is adding up on Open Hands' tax returns.

This is actually a response to a bunch of comments that have said similar things. Earlier today - in a completely different context - I heard a bit of advice given to the speaker by a veteran broadcaster: "When you screw up, 'fess up and dress up." That is, when you get caught messing up, the best thing you can go to salvage what you can out of the situation is to come clean and be careful what you say and do going forward. It seems like Jirard just kept digging his hole; not sure why he thought it would be a good idea to try to manipulate Karl and Muta.

That response video, and his behaviour seems to me his fear is of a lot more stuff being uncovered. That $600k has found a home very quick. Since he has been boasting about making $600-700k to all sorts of charities yearly, and his golf tournament money is still unaccounted for. There is probably a lot more to uncover and that’s what has him running scared.
Jirard also seems to be just the public face, the real brains behind this operation is his Dad. So if anyone goes to jail, it’s most likely him.
