We import much more electricity from France (EDF) and Germany (EON) than the official figures suggest, because we are under contract to buy a certain amount from them whether we need it or not… But they can barely produce enough for themselves, so they import it from cheaper sources (to the East) at one price before selling it on to us at a premium… It’s scam…

Because we don't produce electricity from the cheapest sources, such as coal, nuclear and gas (exception during the energy crises). Renewables require tax payer subsidies, for which the other less green alternatives don't. We're paying excessively for Ed Millibands hard on for net zero.

Why don’t the energy companies store up any excess electricity made in storage battery’s , and then use it when we have less wind or solar .
I mean we are always being encouraged to store our solar excess in batteries in the loft to be used when the sun gone in , and 6:11 is not able to make any .
So they should also back up the grid with battery storage.
