As a middle-aged woman, for sure i wince at times at some of the stuff I see online. But you folks know far better than me what’s possible, so I’m going to trust you (worst case - I can look away for a bit). But why am I watching at all? Why do I always look when I pass the IMAX in London in case anyone’s there? During the crappy lockdown days, I once looked out my 5th floor window and there was a group of chaps doing parkour outside (there are steps, rails, raised flowerbeds etc). I was mesmerised the whole time. They weren’t filming, just moving, being graceful yet strong, supporting each other - it was such a bright spot in dark days for me. So more power to you all. And yeah, you might get hurt occasionally - but a life spent on the sofa is also shit for your body, with none of the upsides you talked about.
Let me explain it for you in one word: ADRENALINE. Adrenaline is what keeps people doing risky things. It's also the testosterone you get after success. But when you fail, you really pay for it.
I got addicted to "freestyle walking" and BMX when I was a kid and it turned into a resilience that has lasted me my whole life.... And yes, "freestyle walking" was basically parkour before parkour was a thing but it included rails and gaps and flips/spins to grinds. 😁👍
If only we could all heal as fast as Henry... I'm glad he's back in the game and conquered the jump! The footage of the ankle injury was hard to watch. I hope he recovers well.
Aw it's sad to see Wizey in a wheelchair with two knee high boots on, but very encouraging to see him in such high spirits despite that. I broke my fibula playing footy (soccer) a few weeks before I was due to travel around South East Asia and am just about recovered now and just booked the flight :) Wishing Wizey a speedy recovery and a lifetime of joy in Parkour once he's back!
I used to free climb for a lot of the same reasons you lads do parkour. Got a spinal cord injury two years ago from a 20-foot fall. Can't really climb anymore, but I'm lucky I can walk so I still get out there and hike. Since my injury, I've been to tons of national parks and even been down to the bottom of the Grand Canyon. Once you damage your spinal cord, your body is pretty much f'd for life, but that doesn't mean life has to be over.
My favourite channel, Dom!!! When I showed this to my students, they were surprised that a lady born in 1970 loves Parkur. Some of them fell in love with the same stuff. I think of arranging a trip to the Parkur arena, taking my teenage bunch, and I hope we'll learn something. In my case, with respect to my age, at least getting over a fence without having my bones broken. I have no other ambitions!😆
When you're hooked on a sport, you come back to it even after a big injury. A few years ago, I broke every bone in my left leg (femur, tib, fib, ankle, etc) in a motorcycle crash. Three months later (down to a single crutch/cane), I managed to throw my leg over my dirt bike and ride it around the neighborhood. Wife was not amused. I was laughing like a madman inside my helmet. I was 58. Still riding. If you stop living, you start dying.
Yeah l went back out on the mtb after a week after scoring a couple of broken neck vertebrae. I didn't have any drugs and the pain was too intense to sit still all day for days. What a bloody idiot. 55 now and walking the dogs is enough, especially since it took a few somewhat inconvenient years to learn to walk again after impacting both ankles into bone dust after doing something l shouldn't have. Lucky just to be able to walk. Painful recovery.
Dom, when I watch your videos, I’m just amazed at how athletic all of you have to be to do these jumps. You guys are incredible athletes with a lot of dedication. 😊🙌
Was a pleasure meeting you at Project Underground 11. You’re such a big inspiration when it comes to my training and seeing this video would be inspiring to all the other people looking to learn parkour. Keep up the hard work Dom and don’t forget to say hi to your mum for me! (Can’t believe i forgot to say it at PU11 after our photo) 😭🤣
Really enjoy these videos. Adds a layer to the sport and lets you realise how hard it is. It also shows people like me, who don't actually do free running, how much effort you athletes put in to it. Both mentally and physically. While its cool to see the amazing tricks done in one take, seeing bails and injury really adds context. One take, which you guys make it look effortless, make us mortals think we could do it.
Great video Dom. There's an amazing collective consciousness to Parkour right now - one athlete can be trail blazing and on the form of their life, while others are struggling with their mental game but every documented movement and battle and success and failure creates ripples of data and information for everyone else in the sport. It's been absolutely fascinating to spectate. I remember when Dom's old room mate Jaydn Clark came short on a flip pre and absolutely demolished his pelvis, and because everyone at the jam was so hyped up and about 8 redbulls in the situation was handled so unbelievably badly from a first aid perspective. But then I saw some of the live stream for project underground this weekend and I was blown away by how maturely that lasses leg injury was dealt with, so the community is learning.
I remember similar feelings doing combat sports, especially that sense of mental resilience, and achievement. I remember being at a low grade, sparring with black belts, one of who was in the British Karate team at the time and every time we sparred I came away bloody, usually with a fat lip, bleeding nose etc, but the sense of accomplishment I got when I managed to defend and actually drop him instead was massive, it didn't happen often, but it happened, and that in itself drove me on to improve and move onto kickboxing. That said I think there's always a time when you know enough is enough, and as I got older (and had far too many kids) priorities changed, and I could no longer afford time off due to injuries so I gave it all up, because for me it was all or nothing. I think though it was probably the wrong move given that now in my late 50's my body is reacting badly to the abuse it took when I was younger, and I think had I carried on in maybe a less physical way, I might have faired better later on. Anyway love the channel Dom, long may it continue.

Been road riding bikes all my life and decided it was time to have a crack at mountain biking, rented a full suspension e-bike at a MB park. Criticisms of parkour ignore how dangerous everything else can be. My coworker absolutely trashed her ankle playing college soccer. Broken 3 places, the kind of injury that has led other people to decide to amputate. She has pins, constantly reforming scar tissue, and can never run again. In addition to a deviated septum that impacts breathing. My dad got incredibly lucky when he was runoff the road by a car on his bike. Major road rash, chipped his chin, but the only casualty was his pinky which will likely never work right again. Everything has risk and those who are good at parkour good at evaluating it.
On the money! The lady next to me in hospital did more damage to her ankle by stepping off a curb; my old man has had more serious injuries cycling on a road bike than I ever have doing parkour. I’ve also seen firsthand worse injuries playing soccer. Everything has risk, at least parkour helps us evaluate that risk to a large degree.
Además de ser un campeón, es que eres una persona súper guay. Transmites muy buen rollo. Te deseo toda la suerte del mundo, te la mereces más q un torero
It is good for confidence, I did gymnastics when I was really young, which totally was that also, but much safer. If your looking for attention and approval, glory, it's not a good motivation and why so many get injured thrill seeking.
I enjoy these videos where Dom steps into a type of mentor/ambassador role, but for him to take that role on properly he should consider leaving the 'say hi to your mum from me' line to the little boys. You don't need that anymore man
Using a different muscle very well - your brain! Well constructed video - I'm enjoying your 'series' on why parkour is not dangerous - you're really as we say in aus 'using your noggin' to set up your argument and you give evidence to support your claims. Clever...a bit of a surprise given your parkour style...but it proves your point even more. Hope your recovery is swift and smooth, but know that your brain is doing a good job in the meantime.💪🧠🎓
Wait till these guys get over 40! It will come back to haunt them. Don't get me wrong they will probably not regret being so awsome and always have the footage to look back on. However there will be a price to pay!
True, +40 years old here and Paying the price from parkour style/stunt jumps now. I regret everything and don't even have footage of them 🤔😵 Stay safe all!
When you have £800 a month in rent to pay and have to work full time I can't risk any sports. The NHS puts you on a stage 1 if you miss 10 days so if i break my leg I'll easily go to a stage 3 sickness and potentially lose my job. The reason why you, storror and other massive RUclipsrs keep training is because you're rich basically so if you injure yourself you dont need to rely on any job to keep you secure. Parkour IS dangerous, its why i had to give it up.
You can break your leg riding a bike. If you're mindful, do what you're capable, condition your body for it properly and don't take unnecessary risks you don't have to be afraid of injuries. I've gotten more injuries at gym after I quit parkour years ago (because of the time I needed for music).
I'd like to know all the stats so we could determine what is the most dangerous healthy activity. I suspect parkour wouldnt even be in the top 10 because I think people who do a lot of parkour tend to escalate steadily and know their limits. I reckon maybe motocross would be the most dangerous all round, or motorcycle racing on public roads.
I try to practice parkour too, but I don't know how to progress without injuring myself. I personally can't afford the medical bills so I was wondering how to know when I'm ready for more intense practice. Also, what is your favorite style of parkour?
If learning parkour is anything like learning to skateboard, then you almost definitely will fall and injure yourself at some point! Id say that if you want to learn tougher tricks then it wouldn't hurt to buy some health insurance.
Also something that people always forget, is why does the danger matter? Like sure it's dangerous, but the people who do it love it, so why try to stop them. Why is it YOUR responsibility to keep THEM safe? Answer is, its' not

It is good for confidence, I did gymnastics when I was really young, which totally was that also, but much safer. If your looking for attention and approval, glory, it's not a good motivation and why so many get injured thrill seeking.
Dominic is a legend!
That's all I had to say! 🤘🏻
I enjoy these videos where Dom steps into a type of mentor/ambassador role, but for him to take that role on properly he should consider leaving the 'say hi to your mum from me' line to the little boys. You don't need that anymore man
Search: Rove McManus
Wizey, you colossal mug! Get well soon my guy ❤
Love you! Misjudged the fuck outta that one haha
7:30 Not you using the guy in the wheelchair as a dolly 💀
Another awesome video to show mom to try and convince her why parkour is much safer than football.
Every point you make here applies to bouldering 😁and you get to break stuff as well
One of the positives is you are creating jobs in the hospital sector
Amazing. I just have too much fear of heights to even try this stuff. I admire the hell out of you who do, however.
my dukes was confused when i said "Dom Tomato says hello" 🤣🤣🤣🤣
I pray that your injury will heal quickly🦽
Wait till these guys get over 40! It will come back to haunt them. Don't get me wrong they will probably not regret being so awsome and always have the footage to look back on. However there will be a price to pay!
True, +40 years old here and Paying the price from parkour style/stunt jumps now. I regret everything and don't even have footage of them 🤔😵 Stay safe all!
best manscaped ad ever lol
Sick content wanna see this channel explode to Storror levels
quality
Its all fun and games until....
I know those rangers in High vis lol. ( Sydney Harbor Foreshore Authority) That's down on Pyrmont west near Sydney Casino.
Nice
Quá tuyệt vời anh ơi, chỉ có những người dũng cảm kiên trì mới làm đc
Great vid ❤
It is simply "gambling" ! You can win huge ! You can win some. You can come near dying or die.
Answer is, its' not
love the content but hate seeing any of you getting hurt
Same… hopefully we’ll stay safe going forward
Dom the best.
Having said that, all of you are great and an inspiration. Well done Henry.
