You found grandad's synth and got it sounding fat, and that's when you realize grandad was a time traveling alien robot dj.
That was a treat. Sam you made it sing so sweetly for us. Can you imagine the guys 40 years ago with pencil and paper designing the modules being able to imagine this is where it would end up?
sounds fab
Thanks
Cool I never heard of that Dutch synth before! And I am Dutch my self! 😅🤦🏻♂️😜
What a living legend you are man!
It's a really good sounding synth
Man that's going to be something else with all those extra modules! Fingers crossed it's doesn't give you too much hassle along the way! Can't Wait!
You always find cool stuff!
🙂🙂🙂😎😎😎🤓🤓🤓
The COM module either means common or communication. In either case, it has a 3 band EQ, 2 outputs with a volume control of which at least 1 is line level, and power supply indicators.
And it's not meant to be freely patched in but is supposed to be hardwired to sum the outputs of VCA modules if I recall correctly. So it's meant to be the last module in your case, the one that takes your patch to the outside world.
i shoulda looked before i blabbed :D. been a while since i read the book! i gotta get up to speed agsin when plopping it together next week anyways! cheers
It's a good thing one can never get sick of wawawawawawawawaowowowowowowowowowoohwoahwoahwoahwoah 😄
Cool! Isn't formant what's used for putting icing on the cake? Either way, it really sounds sweet!
I'd love to have some sort of small DIY synth kit to start out but I have no idea where to even begin.
You can buy DIY modules from Erica Synths that come with video instructions on how to build them first on a breadboard and understand the circuit, then permanently solder the components to a board to build your own eurorack synth one part at a time.
❤
Sam, have you done a run-down of what the controls are on a synthesiser? What is "VCO", etc.? I recognise some of those from my old Commodore software but I don't know which are typical, which are not. Thanks!
VCO: voltage controlled oscillator (makes the sound)
LFO: Low frequency oscillator (to modulate other things)
VCA: Voltage controlled attenuator (to subdue or amplify signals)
ADSR: attack, release, sustain, decay (controls the way a control voltage or the volume is shaped in terms of volume rise and fall)
VCF: Voltage controlled filter (Removes part of the frequency spectrum)
Mult: Multiplies a signal so you can send it to multiple modules
SEQ: Sequencer: (Allows you to create patterns that make things happen.)
I think that's the most common ones from the top of my head. :)
Voltage controlled just means you can let other voltages control the parameters instead of manually turning knobs up and down.
I collected elektor magazine after they finished the format and then discovered all the articles were put together in a book.
I showed it to a friend. I thought it would be interested in forming a co-op and we each build our own.
He stole it. I bought another copy. Showed another friend. He stole that one. I bought a third and fourth copy. They were also stolen. First one was returned to me after about 5 years with a sincere apology. The bastard had gone on to buy a Roland system. 700 and an MC8. So I had that for a while and I started ordering parts for it. I wasn't going to show it to anyone. I wasn't going to try getting anyone's help and some junkie walked in when the front door was left open and stole a few things and stole this copy. I had decided to stop buying copies.
Now of course you can get PDFs on the net, but there's a couple of chips you can't get these days.
But for any DIY people it's worth having a look at and the filters all have chips that are available and I think the LFOs as well.
Don't tell me that is going to go on the bottom shelf?
yep more accessible than going above
maybe will go on table but working best there tbh
Do you think I could still find a bruel & kjaer for any reasonable price anymore? they are the coolest
yes i saw one go recently for 50 quid, its all the buy it now ones that are high and they have always been high. but no one buys em for that. hence why they are still there :D
@@THISMUSEUMISNOTOBSOLETE fair enough. nevertheless, searching for deals is hard enough, while also having cool projects to do
@@THISMUSEUMISNOTOBSOLETE also, I forgot to mention, but I'm in the pacific northwest, so I'm sure its somewhat different here...

hahaha
"ALSO OPEN 1-4 DECEMBER 29th And 30th. " given this was published dec 10th, is that correct ?
i can understand can be misconstrued!!! updated to make more sense! :)
elektor originated in the Netherlands. It was called Elektuur there until they used elektor for all the countries at around 2020. The meaning came vom "Elektronik" and "Lektuur" which is dutch for electronic reading or electronic lecture. They were pretty good. But these days they are boring. That not only due to the fact that times have changed but also due to a lack of ideas.
Elektor was published in Italy, England, Australia and German since 1979. They all had slightly different articles in different regions at different times.
Sam.... Chnristmas idea -- with all of your synths, sequencers *AND* your phone equipment -- why don't you call *EVERYONE* in the UK on Christmas and pipe through some awesome synth Christmas tunes!!!!!!
plan!!! not cheap.. but its certainly a plan!
