You don’t realize how unique this is until they’re all actually being interviewed, and you realize you’ve never seen four Asian people sitting down for an interview about a super hero movie. It’s borderline jarring. I remember when I first saw Black Panther, I was so struck by the same thing.
Good point. I am Chinese-Canadian, growing up in an area with a pretty high proportion of Asian Canadians, and I had one of those moments a few years ago just buying a day planner in Staples (back when I still bought a hard copy version). The outside wrap had a photo of a casual stylish man of Asian heritage instead of a white person, and I realized how rare it is to see that in any office supply packaging or with any product that wasn't specifically Asian or from Asia. Such a shame it's taken this long, but it's good that things are moving forward. Though it feels like many steps back with the worldwide violent racist attacks on Asians - never felt unsafe before, all these years.

As a person who had high expectations, because I saw the care they put into Black Panther, but highly prepared myself for the same race tropes and jokes, I highly recommend watching this! This film just made the movie about characters dealing with one's place in the world, personal moral dilemmas and how to navigate family. Topics that every human understands and deals with, they just talk it out in Mandarin. I was sad at the lack of ads/promotion since this movie stands above many first character movies.
Awesome. BTW I have seen NOTHING but a constant stream of ads for this movie. It might be due to your area? Or maybe I am on YT too much and the Algorithm knows what I like so... it's been a never ending strugle to avoid all the ads and YT spoilery Thumbnails because I can't physically see the movie until this lockdown in the Sydney area ends. The movie did really well 430 Million at the box office it’s budget was 2 Million so it made its money back and keep in mind it’s during a pandemic it’s the highest grossing film during the pandemic time.
Just gotta point out how the conversation flowed so well to the point where I thought “I haven’t heard the interviewer speak in a while🧐” goes to show how great their chemistry is. It’s kind of a weird feeling, they’re speaking like they’re not celebrities but regular people who went thru this amazing experience and got to talk about it also fangirling od. I love it

Most wholesome cast interview I’ve seen for this movie. The director and the three main youngest stars. These four people would be fun to work with in real life.
It was superb, y’all. I had high expectation going into this movie after the hype and high reviews.. I was not disappointed. It blew my expectations away.. perfect dialogue, emotional story-arc, and eye-popping action sequences.. 11/10!

Wow, great interview because they didn't talk about the same thing that all the other interviewers steer them to or they didn't make them play quiz or "who would be the most likely to" games. We actually learned more about them. Credit goes to both the members of the team opening up and to the interviewer for guiding the interview well. They deserve the success of this movie..
Saw it last night and am still buzzing over it. Great movie, gotta see it in theaters to do it justice. The fight scenes were unreal, and Tony Leung proves once again why he's a legend.
As a Vietnamese American, I loved this movie so much. It is wonderful that the youth of the AA & AC community has someone to look up to. Sarah Halley Finn. She's the one responsible for the castings. I know, she got it, but for Simu, I think he just assumed it was a compliment because he probably thinks all women worry about being too fat and that's it's desirable to men for women to be thin (and of course, to body build himself, I'm sure he's always trying to get the fat down), but women who are thin can wish they have curves and different men prefer different things too. Everyone's got their own body image issues so you can't assume. I could tell it wasn't intentional. Same with her saying that he immediately gave a brother vibe (rather than a dashing/heart throb type comment). Not intended to be negative but some guys could hear that comment and wish for a different first impression. It's a thing with many Asian diaspora men for sure that they want to be seen in a romantic and sexual light more often. They both have their respective partners and they are working professionally together so being flirty would be weird anyway.
I think Simu said that about her stick arms in the context of fighting her. She's smaller than him, he didn't want to hurt her. Her stick arms reminded him how much smaller she is.
