      Yes, scorpions and snakes! But I was more concerned about hyenas or wolves tbh 😆 the scorpions and snakes are more active at night and I was safe from them in the bivvy, although I did check under the nearby rocks to make sure there were none hiding underneath 😬

    Hello Matt. You're going to Israel from Jordan ! It’s incredible desert tour that will be the toughest of your hikes. I like the view of the rocks, but I think the heat is unimaginable. I was surprised to see you camping in a desert area where it is hot during the day and cold at night, and where there are many dangerous animals 😁
    It was a very impressive and enjoyable tour. Thank you for such a wonderful sharing. Take care 😊 I'm looking forward to next video 🤩👍

      Hey Juli! Hahah well, in fact it was the other way around, Israel to Jordan but I didn't have opportunity to edit the videos in order 😆 the heat was very dry so despite the high temperature it wasn't as unbearable as it would be in humidity, but still tough to climb mountains in 😅 thanks very much for watching and enjoy your Sunday!

    Nice one, Matt. I have waited until I can watch it from start to finish. Madness, that heat was searing, but it certainly gave some great views. You said that was a bird hide. I'm thinking a snipers nest left over or in case of wars. Don't worry about Mossad, I've forwarded your vlog to them 😂. Another epic vlog. Thanks for sharing. I bet you loved that dip.

    • @no_soy_rubio
      @no_soy_rubio  Год назад +1

      You're absolutely right, Chris! Just before I got picked up by the couple en route to the campsite I noticed quite a few more of the nests and they were all placed strategically on hilltops. I asked the couple and they confirmed they were indeed for snipers. Wish I'd recorded that bit! Thanks so much for watching, appreciate it. If you don't hear from me again, you'll know I've been collared by Mossad 😁

There were so many gazelles and they weren't concerned about humans at all. I saw a few ibexes as well but they ran away when I was 200 metres away. Saw some huge lizards too. I wonder what I missed out on at night time. Grateful that no hyenas ate my pitta bread 😆

    That is a sweltering heat! Some trek just to get to the start, in the 30s! People living in tents and caravans, must be incredibly expensive. Blue and white markers for the trail. It all looks so inhospitable, what a bucket list place to be. Its nice to hear the Muslim prayer in those countries, lovely almost constant sound.peanuts, fruit, croissants, unidentifiable meat, hummus, water and dates, great provisions! 4x4 and quad biking heaven. Gosh your headed to a very popular spot but at the right time. Nice bit of scrambling and exposure, the railings are really decent. That sand walking looks hard work! Gosh the light at dusk looks very refreshing, except for the flies. Love your fly coping disguise! Picnics with Matt, spin off channel we think! Boo, no red canyon, you’ve seen one you’ve seen another. Great desert sleep! Amazing life choices, maybe half a deathwish! Was waiting for Last Crusade to crop up, i can hear the John Williams music playing in on your vertical climb! Another great setup given the conditions, darn you drunk teenagers, rest up in this legal spot, wow those teens were full on! First out of the camp in the morning, well played! Great video Peter!

    Incredibly wild walking. The landscapes are amazing if a bit dusty. Those climbs up the loose rock were really difficult. Well beyond me now. I know just how hard climbing loose rocky trails in hot terrain can be. Years ago we did something similar in the Turkish Taurus mountains. Walls and gulleys where no-one had been before on the flanks of a mountain called Demirkazik eventually defeated us. Very jealous of your ability to experience so much in these wonderful areas. Even years ago I don`t think I would have been tackling such routes solo.

    • @no_soy_rubio
      @no_soy_rubio  Год назад

      I've just looked up Demirkazik and it looks great! Another place to add to the list! It's good to accept when you're defeated. Part of me thinks I could've probably made it to the Red Canyon, my original plan - but I preferred to adjust my plans on this occasion. You're absolutely right about the loose rock, especially on the descent it can be very tricky. I'm 41 now, so I figure I've got maybe a couple or so years left of trips like this, then onto more sedate (some would say normal) travels!

    • @IvorsTravels
      @IvorsTravels Год назад +1

      @@no_soy_rubio We were first in the Taurus in 1974, my late teens, so now as I approach 70 I have a lot to look back on. Still manage plenty of activity but there comes a time when you cannot do everything you would like. When I was your age I thought to do all the more energetic things and I would slow down in later years. Problem is that even now I really do not want to slow down. Covid though put the brakes on and then health problems start to arrive. Last year though we were away as much as we were at home. Keep going and I am sure you have decades left before the brakes need to come on.

    • @no_soy_rubio
      @no_soy_rubio  Год назад

      @@IvorsTravels thanks Ivor! I know what you mean. I still play football quite regularly, and my body just isn't capable of keeping up with the 20-somethings anymore, even if my mind wants it to. Conversely, Covid was the spur for me to do more, when the world started to open up again I knew I needed to live life as much as possible. Before covid I would rarely do anything solo, always with friends, but they have busy lives with families etc, which meant I really wasn't doing much. I'm addicted to solo travel now and see my friends less, but I'm sure there'll be more of a balance in the future! You're doing great, spending 50% of your time away, inspiring.

I had mentioned in the last video I was on my way to Jordan and got Amoebic Dysentery in Turkey (there was no electricity in places and though the meal that I contracted it from was probably the best meal I ever had, it cost me - I wasn't able to visit Jordan, Israel, or Egypt. I did make it to Syria.) I envy you that you were able to hike out into the desert in Israel. What a view up top. I love hiking in the desert although I am not sure you would describe it that way. Thank you for this. Swimming in the Dead Sea is another must on my list of things to do.

      Amoebic dysentery sounds pretty darn awful. I hope you get chance to visit the region, it really is interesting. I would say Petra and Jerusalem are absolute 'must-sees'. I'm glad you got to see Syria at least. I'd love to go, when the situation has improved. Lebanon too.

    Would be nice to have seen the red canyon, but still just a nice adventure. You are a lot braver than we were when visiting Israel. We didn't even want to drive to some locations, as we were a bit afraid of having issues at the border checkpoints to Palestine, so we ended up on some of the worst tours we ever took (#toursim-industry). Was really nice to see this other side of the country, although I have to admit 45 minutes was quite a long video for us to watch...

      @@no_soy_rubio we were stationed in Tel Aviv and took a bus to Jerusalem and one to the Dead Sea. Both tours were terrible and only focussed on spending time in shops instead of exploring the rich culture. We had no time to stay in the most important locations to Christianity, but all the time in the world to look at cheap jewelry.
      At the dead sea, we had to almost run to make it in and back before the bus wanted to leave... Never again. Such a shame. Especially as all the tours are on the same schedule. We visited a castle on the Dead sea trip and it was crowded and you couldn't explore the area at all. Skipping the scheduled lunch was all we had to do to suddenly have the entire place to ourself...
      Usually I would have skipped a 45 min video, but as I am editing myself right now, I could have it running next to it.

I wasn't too interested in seeing the Dead Sea as it looked very touristy (like you've described) and saw a video of it once and it looked kind of dirty. Your challenge is to conquer the land of "Hamada." My ears failed to catch the voice of prayers and now listened to online resource "Adhan" which fascinates me. As the sounds of coarse sands from each step you make reach the first summit, I feel envious of you that you can put hands on the four counties from the first summit. Maybe NGM is looking for this image for their front-cover. 5:51 There are many fine capturing images you shot, for instance, mountain goats and you. 6:56 Your muah sounds attract mountain goats? Certainly, it doesn't give you excess space to get around. 13:48 14: 09 have you done rock climbing? How can you keep meat and hummus cool during hiking in the heat?19:45 The pillar of rock formation, hoodoo looking, appears in front of you.. 22:23 Is that rich -iron formation? I thought the hiking trail marking is white & blue stripes and now is it white & black stripes? I am glad to know you made it through alive, not even a life-threatening bite from a viper. You earned a compete triumph over the precarious and minacious situation. Also appreciate this view 32:14. You sounds exhausted with your big smile, but the satisfaction is greater. Yes, you deserve whatever you desire. I can almost feel pain from sunburn when you dip in your body in the sea. Perfect! This is the 4th time I am trying to compose and drop it off...

      This is a great comment Ms K7S, I'm glad it finally arrived! Thanks RUclips! 😁 yes, Hamada, that's right. Not so much a classic sand desert, more rock! A couple of days later I was there in Jordan, and being woken up by the call of prayer at 5am. It's an interesting sound. Is NGM National Geographic? Hmm no, the goats/gazelles pretty much ignored me completely. That was pretty much rock climbing/via ferrata, yes 😁 the meat and hummus don't stay cool 😆 but I keep them wrapped up so they don't spoil, although they're not exactly fresh after 36 hours or so. There were multiple trails there actually, it's the main reason I picked Israel for desert hiking, the only country in the region where they have proper trails and facilities (including rescues) Surprisingly I didn't get sunburned, I was very diligent with my sunblock, for once in my life 😆 thank you as always for watching and especially for persisting with the comment, it's always appreciated 😁
