➡️ Margot Cotten is the only french girl who can actually play americana without blushing. Playing drums, guitars and keys, she is a multi-talented singer songwriter. Make sure to watch her new videos on Sundays. She plays covers by Bob Dylan, Tom Petty, Elton John, Cat Stevens, The Rolling Stones, The Byrds, Neil Young etc as well as her own material.
Fantastic interpretation of this classic track Margot and Dominique. The best Daughter & Father musical combo on RUclips
Margot, I’m so happy you and your father are so close. Keeping alive the music I grew up listening to. Thanks
Thanks for listening and for the comment !
Best cover of this song I've heard in years ! Bravo Princess Margot !!!
Incredible guitar works, father and daughter nailed it ‼️ 👍👍
Margot weaves her cool Magic again..😎 and dad too..Thanks guys!! ..✌❤
Wow! Brings back my memories of Velvet Underground. You guys nailed it as usual. Thank you both.
This Record Should Be Played Loud. - Crisp clean lines, a dream car twenty feet long.
Le cadeau du dimanche !🤗
You & @frenchleftovers do covers of all my favorite songs and you kick ass doing it! You are the picture of the quintessential rock & roll guitarist in that black jacket & shades, cranking out that rhythm! I love it!
Who said women can't rock? I especially love the drum rolls, before the vocals kick in ❤
You have such talent, thank you for sharing this video of you playing this classic rock song with you father. Clearly, your father is a talented musician too😊
Margot you are the most amazing musician I have ever heard with your Dad. So much talent between the both of you. I am 62 and heard a lot of amazing music but you are by far the most talented I have ever heard. I just get so much out of listening to your music. You play all the songs I loved over the years. I am so lucky to have found you. Just keep playing I will keep being amazed at the happiness you bring me.
Thanks so much for this kind message. Have a beautiful day !
New York City , the sixties and seventies. Love and trash.
🙃
Memories of my youth

Very nice guitar intro, with tasty fills all the way through. Great work with the sticks too ❤

Un grand merci Jacky !!
Always a great sound with great video! And no tricks - always, always you playing it live. Super stuff. Lydia & Rick
Wow, a Wagner and Hunter Intro. You are real Rock and Roll Animals. I've seen Lou Reed twice. The first time was in the 70ies. He played loud and didn't say a word. The second time was years later. There stood a friendly older man, telling stories and playing his classic hits. Both concerts were good but totaly different.
Keep on working. I like to watch.
Jimmy from Chicago….Hi Margot!………Fantastic!…….You and dad smoked a classic!………….
……Lots of passion from France!……..Thanks….Margot!……stay safe in a troubled world…..😊😊😊❤
That's a lot of work splicing together and editing all those different camera takes but it pays off with a superb video every time,..... thanks Dominic and Margot for all your hard work, now produce another album and tour America.
We produce as much as we can !
Perfect! You and your father nailed it!
Wow! That outfit with the wrap around shades and leather jacket is giving the blue turns to grey jeans on that Who song a run for its money. You are very huggable here and Dominique is awesome! His intro is great and you weave into it very well. The emotion is there and I think this is one of your all time best tunes.
Now I think I will come down and give Keith a call and join him - he is waiting for the Man! My imagination forgets Nico and you are the one!
You play all the best music. Love it , Margot.❤
Thanks Edward !
My favorite piece of music just got a whole lot better. Thanks Margot.
Why does this not have 12,000,000 views?
1:28 is pure rock n roll
I don’t know ! Share it everywhere !!
Excellent cover! You folk are amazing! Thanks for sharing.
My favorite musicians of all time❤❤❤
Oh Yeah from Southwest Ohio USA. Absolutely enjoy your videos, thank you 🎸🎶😎
Belles guitares, belle interprétation, excellent. Merci les Cotten 😃😉
Merci à toi 😊
Superb, the pair of you!
🎸😎❤️❤️❤️😎🎸 You two are amazingly awesome !!!
Those were different times... Very nice. Thanks.
Top notch delivery: musically, arrangement and video. After this comment, I need to listen to it again, this time with more than just build-in Macbook speakers.
Oh yeah put your headphones on your head right away !!
Géniale cette reprise ❤️
THE BIGGESTTTTT SWEET LADY M.COTT
As always, magnifique, Margot.
Cool !!!!
great stuff
Indeed!
Just WOW! Next level Margot...❤🎶
Great!
Bravo! Very nice Ms. Margot! 😊
Wow!!! This performance takes me right back to college, blasting Side 1, Track 1 of the live album "Rock and Roll Animal" ["Intro/Sweet Jane"] in my dorm room, with ("The Deacon") Steve Hunter and the late Dick Wagner (highly-in-demand guitarists of that era) trading off riffs right up to the switch into the unmistakable first bars of "Sweet Jane", at which point the crowd at the Academy of Music in New York City goes crazy. Margot and Dominique absolutely do justice to this favorite musical memory of mine.
☺️🙂
LOVE LOVE LOVE IT
Fantastic, you've done it again, you always succeed whit your song choices it's so good, and whit your singing voice everything is so perfect, love you ❤❤❤
Great cover of one my favs!

Oh man.....oh man...... thanks
Hi, again ❤
🎸❤🥁
As much as anyone tries to cover the VU, there will never any substitute to Lou Reed's unparalleled hip sneer...
Lançou no meu aniversário lindaa parabens
Thanks Alexander !
❤❤
Riding a Stutz Bearcat, Jim - First time you can actually understand the lyrics - much clearer than Lou Reed's mumbling!
Thank god I had the lyrics because it’s impossible to understand what he sang … now I know what a Stutz Bearcat is !
Top!
Wow...just F***ing WOW!!!!!
Si !
@@margotcotten milagro!!!!!
Unexpected kind of preacher style performance. A bit like Patti Smith.✌️
Thanks a lot !
😊
Their covers always seem to improvise on the original making it into a much better version.
We do our best to do so !
You look like Lous sister ❤
A rock song covered in Velvet...
💙Bises💙 - J-F - 🐼🙎🐻
Here, Dominique looks like Eric Clapton... :)
He sure does !
merci youtube, c'est magique parfois.
Lacks a little bite! I've been listening to Sweet Jane since 1970, still crank the Volume knob to 11, when it comes on! The guitars should snarl, have a little sustain. It's a howl, not a croon.
Completely-disagree, FWIW. Hunter and Wagner played powerfully, it's true, but also very-smooth. I think this version modernizes the classic version just a teensy touch while remaining true to the spirit of the original.
@@williamcandee5267
The Hunter/Wagner version was the snap, crackle, Pop! I'm not criticizing the performance. The band does a great job.
I reacted to the mix, and my own connections with the song, I hear it with a little more whine, and a bit more snap, but I've always been crazy. Rock 'n' roll will do that to you, after 60 years, I'm told.
I understand perfectly well, every musician hears his own song. I liked it better the second time through. That's always a good thing.
@@williamcandee5267 I fully understand. I've always been a rocker, if the guitars are buried in the mix, there better be a howl of sound going on. He played some very nice lines. I wanted to hear them, with some sass. She played great, too. Maybe it's just my ears, too loud, too many times.
Well, Hunter and Wagner both used delay and phaser effects in the original version whereas we never see effects pedals on the floor when Margot is playing. Margot is in the studio and selects her guitars for each piece by the way they sound. There is a reason we see these two Gibsons in this video. I agree it sounds different from the original, especially at first, but after listening to it a few times it stands on its own very very well. By the way, I requested this song and I expected it to sound different, if Margot just made rote copies of songs I wouldn't be here. Cheers!
@@christopherschafer7675 It shows craft and care. A little sustain, some crunch, and a little Mike Bloomfield-style snaky lead lines, and they could have a nice single, I thought. Not quite Mott, far from Junkies, somewhere between. It's a song about "arriving", being the toast of the town, while being seen as main stream:
"Jack is in his corset, Jane is in her vest,
And me, I'm in a rock 'n' roll band.
Huh
Riding in a Stutz Bear Cat, Jim,
Ya know, those were different times.
Oh, all the poets they studied rules of verse,
And those ladies, they rolled their eyes."
I've always seen it as a companion piece to Rock n Roll, but the critics made a big deal out of Sweet Jane being Lou's "rock hit", because of its ambiguous lyrics. Rock and Roll was a straight-ahead rock song about the experience of encountering rock on the radio for the first time, something many of us experienced in similar manners. The song that triggered Lou was Heartbreak Hotel, for me it was Alley Oop, but we had the same response: More, more, more!
Glam Rock was starting to come out of the cage, in 1970, T Rex was starting out as alien flower children. The Velvets had been part of Warhol's scene, were getting outed, for being "rock stars", as Lou mentions,
"And there's even some evil mothers
Well, they're gonna tell you that everything is just dirt". Jim Morrison had similar experiences in NY, the home of the self-important and entirely too hip.
It's a snarly song, with snarky lines and an undercurrent of repressed resentment. I wouldn't load it down, but some sinuous underlining and right-touch-at-the-right-moment guitar histrionics wouldn't hurt a bit. A bit stiffer attack, to emphasize specific lines, and bracket the vocals. It's not mine to do with, but I did pretty well for a long time. But, that was how I approached music, back when. It's not my song, or my performance, and they did a good job with it.
