This reminds me of my husbands family( his parents are from china) when his parents came over they ddint speak any english but his mom immediately went to the kitchen to start unpacking food and trinkets and items from china to give to our family and his dad mainly just smoked and sat around and ate. This time his mom is coming for 5 months or so and his father stayed back in china. But this whole family dynamic is very familiar to me.
Whenever my family travels between India and U.S.A, we always fill our suitcase with loads of shopping, snacks, etc. We travel alternate years and u never know when smth like covid will strike again and you can’t visit your country😢.
