As a white man born & raised as the only white person in a predominantly black neighborhood I feel like we have more in common than we don't. A lot of the black male sentiment in the United States have many similarities with the white male sentiment in the United States. The emasculation in this country is very real on both sides.
I truly love how Joe can sit back and let a conversation flow with his cohosts now and then chime in when he wants to further the discussion, he doesn’t have to lead and keep the convo going, he couldn’t do that before with Rory and Mal, he always had to lead and try to prod them to speak. Oh yall came to POD today! Recently, many of the intellectual debatable topics were laughed off with what seemed like hesitation to push the conversation forward. The jokes are entertaining, but it started to feel like there were a lot of missed opportunities to have some real in depth conversation. The issue is most times people can only speak from their personal vantage point and so both are right. Having to argue one perspective against 5 people who speak from the male perspective is tricky.

Just making a generalization, I do feel that Hollywoods portrayal of black man has always been cringe overall (not always and not for every black man) but with that said, I also feel people read into things too deeply. I saw a man holding and loving his child, while happily walking behind his significant other and everyone is black on a high fashion magazine that billions of people will see. That imagery is not portrayed often. And don’t we want to see black men loving and supporting their woman and taking care of their kids? Just my opinion. I think Jonathan Majors is a rising star who was serving fashion. It’s The February issue, so Valentine’s Day was up when they did the shoot. Is the issue that it’s on Ebony, a magazine whose target audience is black people?
