My favorite neighborhood of Paris, despite the derision it receives from friends of mine who resent its bourgeois character. What I love about Rue de Passy is its sense of presence while still being an intimate neighborhoody type of street. There are wonderful shops. I prefer the Passy Grande Epicerie to the one in the Bon Marche. I like F. Pinet, Guerlain, Loding, Cos, Sandro and others. The Monoprix in Passy Plaza is the best. An excellent wine selection. Pro tip--there's a clean public restroom in the basement of Passy Plaza. This video was filmed a little over two weeks after my last trip to Paris, right before the start of the pandemic. It's sad to think how all of the people in this clip, as well as everyone around the world, would be under lockdown in just a few more days. Of course, the people of the 16e were better equipped than many to deal with the effects.
