Silvurrr Boi All have sinned and so all are worthy of death and deserve hell, for God’s standard is perfection and none of us could meet it by doing good deeds. Romans 3:23 “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;” Romans 6:23 “For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” Romans 5:8 “But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.” But God loved us so much that He sent His Son to die in our place as a substitutionary atonement for our sins. He is the only way to Heaven that God has provided. If you believe in Him, then you will be saved. John 3:16-18 “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.” John 14:6 “Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.” Acts 4:12 “Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.”
Yeah that's a shame but ngl I think she's pretty hot.... Judge me as you will but she is also underrated as a character a sexy character can be more than their looks but so many people look as those kind of character designs and just assume they are just there to be token it's sad
I disagree with the part about her not telling Shadow about his past. It's implied she HAS, when Shadow sees Sonic and is like "Look, there's that hedgehog...". Yes, Rouge TOLD Shadow about all this, but that doesn't mean HE remembers it. He's not trying to find out what happened in his past, he's trying to find out why he can't remember it, and later, if he truly is the real Shadow.
I love how people dont catch on to stuff like this. They ignore it ever happens. Look at STH game. People say it was unnecessary but it expanded shadow's character and it ended his character arch from heroes. Also side note the canon story of STH and the true ending is great.
Oh yeah she’s definitely the leader/voice of reason for her boys. Maybe Rouge wanted Shadow to have a clean slate and start over with the world since everything was falling on his shoulders at the time.
JapaneseDancer46 you and Felix Aiver are ABSOLUTELY CORRECT MATES, THESE GOOD REASONS OF YOURS ARE THE BEST WAYS TO EXPLAIN WHY ROUGE WOULD NOT BRIEF SHADOW ABOUT HIS PAST!
People dont realize that sometimes fans can just fill in the blank if they try. Not every thought process need to be explain we can interpret it in our on way. Love your version by the way.
Kinda sad that we never got an interpretation of Rouge in Sonic Boom before the series was cancelled. I think it could’ve been interesting to see how her dynamic would change with a more naive and lighthearted Knuckles; or to see her status as a fem fatal become a possible foil for a paranoid basket case like Sticks.
@@thetruej7872 That makes even MORE sense! A blue flash at that.... but then... Shadow is a reformed Reverse Flash.... or... hmm... yeah... a DC comparison would be tough with two speedsters
Honestly, Rouge is probably my favourite out of all female characters of Sonic games. Others are... kinda dissapointing in terms of personality. Glad to see best girl getting some recognition for being a good and caring friend. Also, I honestly wouldn't tell Shadow about his past if I was Rouge. SA2 was an example of what would Shadow do while knowing about his past and... his last action in SA2 was basically a suicide. He had no reason to live, he fulfilled his promise. And he is madly obsessed with this promise. I'd say Rouge didn't want to trigger him.
Felix Aiver, you and JapaneseDancer46 are ABSOLUTELY CORRECT MATES, THESE GOOD REASONS OF YOURS ARE THE BEST WAYS TO EXPLAIN WHY ROUGE WOULD NOT BRIEF SHADOW ABOUT HIS PAST!
@@derdoctor1895 he did push Sonic away. If both of them were there, he wouldn't have been completely drained. More so, Sonic would have helped him get back to Ark. There are many ways this could have been prevented. Plus, there is difference to how people react and most logical actions. Who says that this hedgehog wouldn't return go with very selfdestructive path? And if we go with real world logic, Shadow has a post-traumatic amnesia. You really do not want to overload people with that condition. She saw how he struggled with memories of Maria when he had them.
@@derdoctor1895 this is really two-dimensional thinking there. Shadow is not only about his promise to Maria. It plays big part in his development, but Maria is not everything about him. and mental condition is not equal stupidity. Honestly, this is a really horrible statement to say. It the thing that every dire moment he would try to throw his life away to fix it, endng up in a lot of danger. But that is only one of the things that could happen. You can't really say how overloading a person with PTA can affect them. Which ties in with multiple routes of Shadow the Hedgehog game. before answering, read about post-traumatic amnesia. and maybe stop considering that Shadow could've survived Ark and being in stasis for 50 years and be a mentally completely sound person. Shadow before 06 was always portrayed as a glass cannon - strong, but mentally fragile. How do you think Shadow had gone to his darkest routes in Shadow the Hedgehog game? he go his memories, no?
@@derdoctor1895 I'm not saying that he would essentially sacrifice himself. PTA when not treated correctly can cause many things to go wrong. I'm saying that Rouge is no doctor to treat that and she tried to lessen the stressfulness of situation he was put in. I only guessed what Rouge was thinking, but overall, in my opinion, as I said earlier, she didn't want to cause more harm. When Shadow saw his android, she even called out to him trying to get his attention off the stressfull subject, she was worried about his reaction. Player choices or not, these are the rountes Shadow could've taken in his current mental state at that time. What's the point in adding routes that character would never commit to? Unlike Undertale, there is no confirmed player entity to control him so all routes is Shadows choices.
What’s interesting is how the three games show three faces of Rouge. SA2. Secretive, mysterious and a temptress in her outward persona. Have ulterior motives but grows to be less distant. Heroes. Smack-talker, a little confrontational and playing the straight man to her teammates to keep them on track. She shows real concern for Shadow and at the idea of Heroes Shadow being an android. 2006. Playful, teasing, banters with the others, shows off her knowledgeable side and displays her worries when Shadow is stranded in the future that she has to get Omega to save him. When Omega tells his teammates of what Mephiles told him regarding Shadow’s future, she shows real frustration and outrage at the unfairness of Shadow being punished because the world feared before giving Shadow her most earnest and sincere words that probably saved Shadow from fully sinking into depression from the revelation.
The femme fatale of the franchise but with quite the open heart. She's pretty much Shadow's closest friend or at least the person that knows/gets him the most (- ^ ) Rouge is the backbone of Team dark aka the best trio
As for Zeena in Sonic Lost World, she too is a femme fatale, but not in a good way where she has no personality other than throwing a temper-tantrum at Sonic she wants to hit him with a Piko-Piko Hammer because he only sees her as a friend and wants to beat her up for complaining about her “nail art”, but I digress.
I'm a nobody 79 a team dark game would be much better than any stand alone Shadow centric game ever could be. All of my favorite sonic stories are based on the team dynamic. Seeing them all work together and overcome obstacles is much more entertaining than single characters on their on quests like SA1 or every other game where Sonic is the only character that matters.
Rouge is that example of brains and beauty. That was something I noticed and started to appreciate as I got older. She is still generally one of the most consistently well written characters along with Blaze.
While I was much more of a Shadow fan with Team Dark, I always enjoyed the interactions that Rouge had with him and Omega. She's probably the ONLY person who Shadow is able to relax around. In Sonic Battle on GBA, there's a point where Shadow is resting at Rouge's house and while asleep. he mutters one word. "ally". He truly considers her as his friend and she clearly does the same, to the point where she promises Shadow in 06 that even if the world turns against him, she'll stand by him all the way. I've always liked their dynamic and I wish we could see it again.
Adventure 2-Heros: Snarky thief who's good deep down. Shadow the hedgehog-06: Headstrong government agent who cares about her friends. Free Riders-Forces: "Sex appeal".
In Free Riders and Forces, I think she was fine. Maybe I just really liked her voice delivery. Plus, Free Riders was more or less when the teams were in a friendly competition, not saving the world. In Forces, Rouge showed concern for Omega when he was offline, and the way she was calling out Shadow's name after the final level sounded like she was concerned there too. Plus, she did work as a spy for the Resistance.
This is also what I like about Rouge during the scene in wave ocean she Said I will always be by your side to me this proves Rouge will never leave shadow she's too loyal to him
Samic 23569 black widow in the mcu sucked not acting like she in the comics because she was very dark character they are scared to take the source material seriously
@Shaman Xeed It's implied that they're mentioning the MCU's rendition of BW, since it's common knowledge that those characters were created decades ago lol
I follow the theory that she actually did tell Shadow about what happened to him and it just didn't matter. It would explain why he said "Look, it's THAT hedgehog" when he saw Sonic again, as well as why he said "Some things never change" at the end of Team Dark's story, both of these lines implying that she did tell him. It simply didn't matter that she told him because there's a big difference between being told of something that happened to you and having that something actually click in your memory. In hindsight, this would probably be best left under your video on Shadow, but the point remains that Shadow's game wasn't entirely unnecessary. Regardless, it's nice that somebody else sees the value in Rouge's character.
I agree 100% with this. I've noticed a lot of sonic fans leave out details from the games. A big example was people acting like shadow was made edgy from STH 05 when his canon parts and true ending had him act like the same character as the past 2 games but more confused and lost since the ending of heroes made him question if his a clone or not and since he has no memory of his past.
@@multiversegaming1824 Yes, that was the point of his spinoff game, for him to decide his past isn't meant to define him and put it all behind him. Though the franchise (at least outside the games) can't seem to make up its mind about whether Maria is still a factor in his life or he's just living life the way he wants and it just happens to align with what Maria would've wanted.
Rouge has always been my favourite. Shes friends with, and is the leader of a team with the Ultimate Life Form and a robot bent on destruction and revenge. And that's badass
Rouge could’ve also been afraid of Shadow’s feelings getting hurt if it were true that he was a robot and she also might’ve been afraid of her own feelings getting hurt if it were true.
I love in the french dub of Sonic X, in the Molly story, she asks if Molly reminds Shadow of Maria, and she's glad if she doesn't. Because she cares about Shadow. Then Shadow finally trusts Rouge with keeping the white emerald... Sorry white chaos emerald
Oh man, I can relate to the android thing with Shadow. So many people think he's an android and it makes me mad, as he's my favorite. SEGA could have fixed that if the dialogue played far earlier in the fight. The two or three minute mark would have worked better. As for Rouge, I always liked her character. I especially liked her writing in the Sonic Universe comics, primarily during the Shadowfall and Total Eclipse arcs. You describe these characters very well, it's definitely serving as a basis for the writing in my Shadow the Hedgehog 2 fangame (shameless self-plug)
KodyCrimson I too was kinda frustrated with some people thinking of Shadow The Edgy Android Huhag and I don't like how the game Shadow the hedgehog's story was jarringly confusingly and real important cutscenes was placed in a bad scrambled order via 10 more forced play throughs with 10/11 UNOFFICIAL AND DUMB FOUNDEDLY CONVOLUTED ENDINGS!
Funny thing is Sega did the same mistake back in SA2 as well the reason Shadow dies in that game is given like 9 minutes into the Finalhazard boss fight in which Sonic comments on how Shadow is raptly losing energy and struggling to keep his Super Form up.
In Sonic Heroes it's likely that Rouge DID tell Shadow about his past, due to Shadow saying lines like, "Look it's that hedgehog." and "Some things never change." Lines like these show that he knows of the events, but doesn't remember them. still recovering his memory in full is still his quest in Heroes. You could argue that this contradicts with Shadow the Hedgehog, but it's not like Shadow the Hedgehog gave a crap about what came before it anyway.
I’m glad that you acknowledge that Rouge is the leader of Team Dark. A lot of people would argue that Shadow is the leader, but he’s more of the face of the team, while Rouge is the one that’s able to keep this team of vengeful anti-heroes from falling apart.
Awesome I love the Character In Depth Sonic series You explain what makes the characters so complex in their own traits & development they have grown I'm hoping you get to do Dr Eggman next
It makes me so mad when people dismiss Rouge, she's such a great character. You didn't mention it, but I also like how she and Shadow are written in Sonic Battle
It seems in Adventure 2 she was motivated by jewels and riches, and her job as a spy was just a job she had. But by the end of that game it sort of switches around, where jewels just become something she likes, but isn't solely her motivation anymore. I suppose she was inspired by everyone's efforts in the Last Story.
And I enjoyed Rouge even more in the Archie comics with her uneasy truce with Amy when returning a Soul Emerald to Blaze, took great concern over a mind-controlled Shadow and tried and succeeded in snapping him out of the brainwash, and she even did what she could guard the Master Emerald from Eclipse the Darkling (the one responsible for mind-controlling Shadow).
I love Rouge, she is one of the best female characters in gaming. she really is underused and honestly needs her own Metal gear Solid spin off! lol that would be awesome. but seriously she is great. Shadow the Hedgehog proved to us that the Shadow you played as was the REAL Shadow, but he very well could have been a different Shadow from the one in heroes as that was never addressed. I believe there are a few Shadows wondering around not just the first one.
You know what this video made me realize? There’s a very important character trait Shadow had that completely explains why these new versions of Shadow feel so lackluster: his guilt. Shadow may have moved on from his past with Maria, but he still feels guilty for nearly destroying the Earth. Him being the hero/antihero completely revolves around trying to make up for his past mistakes. It’s more obvious in the comic books, but you can definitely see it in 06. After seeing what happens into him in the future, he doesn’t get mad, he believes it. He doesn’t blame people for being afraid of him, he knows after what he did, they had every right to be. And Rouge knows this, which is what makes her being Shadow’s friend so sincere. She knows what it’s like to be looked down on by everybody.
Rouge was such a great character. I remember all the hate she got way back in the beginning, with so many people reducing her to her sexuality, her appearance, calling her all sorts of derogatory words for women. I couldn't understand why back then and I still can't. She was a complex character with an arc, and the English script of SA2 really loses a lot of nuance and her personality in the clumsy adaptation. She needs to be handled respectfully by writers who aren't afraid of writing a story.
A beautiful female character with a sweet personality and charming characteristics, Rouge may be one-note these days, but at least she’s not a caricature of her usual self. Also, people including me, JMM, ship her and Shadow together even though Knuckles x Rouge is more common due to Rouge’s infatuation with rad red. Plz cover Omega soon! -JMM
Actually Rouge has potential romantic feelings for Shadow. Sonic 06 had a theme for female characters , about choosing your love over the world . She occasionally flirted with him . Even the last game which is TSR she flirted with him in rare voice line , and ironically she didn't flirt with Knuckles in that , neither forces . People are very biased for Knuxouge , and just twisted the intentional meaning any Shadouge moment in order to suit there bias .
About Rouge not telling Shadow about his past, she doesn't tell him because she's not sure if he's really Shadow or not. That line at the end where she tells Omega that he's a robot was a mistranslation. She was meant to say he _might_ be a robot. Also, it could be the same reason Tifa never told Cloud the truth about his past.
I think its possible that maybe the reason Rouge didn't explain Shadow's past to him in Heroes is because maybe she didn't even know if that was the original Shadow at the time. Considering the Shadow androids that appeared later in the story, she probably wondered if the Shadow she found earlier was one of them. It's also possible that maybe she told him bits and pieces of his past which might be why he recognized Sonic, although that might've just been some of his memories slowly coming back to him.
At first, Rouge was a dull character to me, but I grew to like her the more times I played through 06, yes I've played through that game like 4-5 times, SA2 I've played like 3 and Heroes 2, never played Shadow, but to me it sounds like a failed attempt at Heavy Rain/Beyond Two Souls before those came out. I also really like her chemistry with Shadow and Omega, something you could've mentioned is at the end of Shadow's plot in 06, when Shadow says "If the world chooses to become my enemy, I will fight like I always have!" Rouge immediately steps up to Shadow's left and Omega does the same on his right, the subtle tell is the sheer loyalty in her body language as even before Shadow finishes speaking, she's right there by his side no matter what and I fucking love that.
I think Rouge never said anything to Shadow because she was unsure if he was the real Shadow, and when they find the Shadow Clone, we can see that Shadow is afraid of thinking that he also was a robot and Rouge could see that. If Rouge say to Shadow that he died in the events of SA2, Shadow will probably realize that he's indeed a robot. We can also see that Shadow is suffering PTSD for the events of SA2 because, in one level i forgot, in a in game dialoge Rouge mentions "Space" and Shadow then says: "Space... did you say Space?" Man Rouge indeed is underrated, she doesn't get enough credit for her empathy.
She really is underrated. It's probably the reason why I don't care about her that much. If she was given more of a spotlight, I'd probably like her a lot more. I always liked her interactions with Knuckles and Shadow in Sonic X. She was always pretty conniving and pretty clever in her own way as well. I just found it funny that, every time she shows up in Sonic X, there is a saxophone riff. It makes me laugh every time. I never played SA2, but I think she still goes through the same character development in Sonic X. She becomes rather attached to the people she works with and interacts. I'd even say she's kind of fond of Chris.
She's basically dark Tails, just like Shadow is dark Sonic and Omega is dark Knuckles. That's why I love Team Dark, just Team Sonic with a sense of more truth.
Rouge is probably the reason why I like bats. No, really, how often do you see a BAT character? I can only think of... Rouge. ...ehh, maybe there's ONE other one in there... NO, not Batman! Like an actual bat, not a person dressed up like one. Ahem, I like her overall design; it's a dark color scheme fitting of a femme fatale/spy/person hiding in shadows, but it's not edgy looking. I appreciate that. Her white fur contrasts very nicely, too, and the extra long eyelashes are gorgeous. I think she's very well designed over all, and just one look at her tells you everything you need to know about her personality, more or less.
@@3mar00ss6 Grow up bro, you couldn't just said something about rouge as a character or anything in the video? You had to resort to the FuRrY argument?
@@skaionex Oh wow, that's the bat's name from Great Mouse Detective? Maaaan I forgot. It's been ages since I saw that but I do remember him! I don't think I saw Ferngully or anastasia, sadly, heh. But yeah, thank you!
"the writers don't know what to do with them" Exactly. They don't know what to do with literally any character, even SONIC. It's such a shame that Pontac and Graff are still writing for the games. How did they even get hired in the first place?? They literally knew nothing about Sonic and had to watch clips from other games to get the slightest idea of what the characters are like. I wish SEGA would just replace the two of them with Ian Flynn. He knows exactly what he's doing and could seriously bring Sonic games back to their badass story archs again instead of the shitty "comedic" route
It's entirely likely that Sega hired writers who are totally inexperienced with the Sonic lore purely because they don't care! And the reason that they don't care is because they think we, the fans don't care! And they've ultimately come to that conclusion because people have been saying that they don't care about the stories of the Sonic games for friggin donkey's years! Like, ever since they first tried more ambitious storytelling with Sonic Adventure, with more fleshed out characters, full cutscenes and voice acting etc. I truly do think that Sega have taken these kinds of "Criticisms" to heart(even though it's more like whiney nitpicks than actual constructive criticism.) I'll wager that their attitude nowadays is 'Why should we even try if they're just going to hate everything we give them? Let's just do what they do online and just make Sonic a complete joke! Let's have flanderized versions of these characters going "HERPY DERP, AIN'T WE SILLY, KIDS?" and just reference stupid internet memes, cos that's all people find funny these days? Let's poke fun at our work cos that's easier than actually trying harder next time! People will still buy our Sonic games, not because they care about Sonic, his friends and his world, but just so they can poke fun and criticize them, making their online reviews with the same overused jokes ("Remember when Sonic kissed a human girl? HA HA, BEASTIALITY!"), and we'll still make money, so screw it! If fans don't care about Sonic, then why should we?' Of course, on the other side you've got fans complaining about the lacklustre stories going 'If Sega doesn't care about the Sonic, then why should we?' So it's all just another endless circle, and it really is hurting the franchise more than people realise!
I’m pretty glad this came up. I’m reading the IDW comics, and I think issue 19 and 20 show Rouge’s personality perfectly. Rouge is definitely the one who keeps Omega and Shadow in check and level headed. She cares for her boys a lot.
Outside of blaze, rouge is my favorite sonic girl and i find her character full of potential with an interesting personality unlike the other girls; vain and selfish with a caring heart inside but isn't really on the hero side. So i kind of die inside when people refer to her as a one-note femme fatale.
I find it funny how basically every character was at their best in 06 (with the exception of a few), but after that, Sega's like "The people didn't like it! Quick! Change the characters!" Like you said: Sega and the fan base need to stop looking at 06 and getting mad at it. If we don't move on, things won't get better.
I love your videos. As a fanfic author, I try to write the characters as true to themselves as I can, and your vids have helped me correct multiple mistakes. I'm going to make sure to keep this in mind whenever I write Rouge. Keep up the good work!
Great Analysis on Rouge! One thing about why she “doesn’t tell shadow about his last”. I’m pretty sure she does tell him about the events of his past. This can be seen when shadow runs into Sonic. He says “Look, it’s that Hedgehog.” As if he was referring to someone he should know but doesn’t. The only way he would know that Sonic is relevant is of Rouge filled in some of the gaps. The misconception comes from Shadow’s dialogue on Shadow the Hedgehog. It’s not so much that he just wants to know the facts. He wants to know why he did the things he did. What’s his purpose, why was he created. Having people tell him that kind of stuff, is like if you got amnesia and you had to rely on your friend’s impression of you to determine your life goals. Maybe you’d your parents a little more tan your friends. But even that might be very accurate. As seen when he doesn’t trust black doom, or Robotnik. So that’s why he wants to remember things, instead of being told.
Yeah, I definitely agree that she is underrated. It is a shame the writers don't understand these characters. I am hoping the writers start understanding what makes these characters special for people. It's strange. I wasn't a sonic fan until like 2018, yet I feel like these characters connect with me somehow.
This video confirms that I'm not insane. Since I was nine-years-old, I've always admired Rouge's ability to stay with her friends no matter what. Thank you for making this video!
I’m still dreaming of an unpredictable Sonic & Rouge game where they’d have to team up to save Tails and Shadow, and got into a nice character development through the game so Rouge can be more popular. I can always dream hahah
Yeah, sadly after Sonic 06 the games basically just became the Sonic and Tails show. I really miss the days when there was character variety and everyone had a place in the story one way or another. What was team dark doing when the world was split into pieces?
While not my favorite Sonic girl of the cast, Rouge is pretty cool. I do wish more was done with her in future games, but we all know the current status of the stories and characterization in Sonic. Unfortunately she suffers the same fate as the rest of the side characters. It's funny that you mention Team Dark's bond because I take issue with how they are today. Shadow doesn't care for them (Thanks IDW and Overdrive...) and Rouge and Omega barely talk anymore, let alone have any meaningful spotlight or conversations. Team Dark doesn't feel like a team of friends anymore. It just feels like they are around each other but have no real interactions. Their bond in Free Riders is very unmemorable. Forces had only glimmers of that before casting it aside and their TSR dialogue doesn't amount to much either. What makes it even more bleak is how Ian Flynn was told that Team Dark's status of being a cohesive team is nebulous at best and is implied that Shadow only works with them out of his own personal gain, which is BULL. But with how he's written now, I have no doubt that's the angle they wish to continue with Shadow and Tean Dark. I recommend checking out Sonic Universe comics issue #4, #21 through #24, #59 through #62, #67 through #70 and #87 through #90. You'll find all the *real* characterization of Team Dark and each member as individual characters. Please give it a check out and wonderful video like always!
Here's the thing about Rouge "not telling Shadow about his past" - she probably did, that was just low-key excluded in a localization error. In the English version, he asks Eggman about his past, but in the original Japanese script, he says something closer to "how do I get my memories back?" At one point, before Team Dark fights Team Sonic, Shadow is able to identify Sonic, which implies that Rouge did tell him some stuff about his past. I might be misremembering, but I think JebTube covered it in his video about the game.
I think they need to split the case of characters so that each of them have something to do. Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, and Amy can still be in the main line games but maybe Team Dark can have some side stories while these events are transpiring. Like in Forces, whynot have a game centered around Team Dark. It'll give those characters something to do while not being forced to participate in the mainline games.
Rouge has always been one of my favorites because she is driven and independent. She affects the story because of it. She's very underrated. And even though she might not seem she cares about anyone else, us as the audience knows that she does, she's just proud. I like how they write her in the comics too. Very cool.
I do think she was a lot more complex then what people gave her credit for. Her story arc in SA2 I think is pretty similar to Han Solo where they started off just doing it for the prize, pretty much very selfish in the start but then turned around and changed once they bonded with there allies and becomes more involved in the adventure. I honestly wished they could of given her a different direction after SA2 and maybe had her in Team Rose in Heroes like in the original ideas of the game (at least from what I heard) but she wasn't bad in Heroes and in 06, in fact, she was actually pretty well written for the most part in them.
2:35 True, except for lines like “Attacking a lady? Shame on you!” (Still better to a similar line Amy Rose had in Sonic Heroes which is “That is no way to treat a lady!” to Sonic for refusing to date/marry her as if he were a misogynistic teenage man for doing that, and that makes all the other characters in the game, even Big the Cat to a slight extent who was also of Team Rose before another far superior cat character of the Sonic franchise Blaze the Cat, and almost much everyone else to a much greater extent like Team Sonic, Team Dark, Team Chaotix and Metal Sonic) and “They stink like echidnas do.” (I know Rouge just met her frenemy Knuckles at the near-end of the Hero & Dark Stories of Sonic Adventure 2, but geez! Over-generalizing much?!).
Rouge a powerful Sonic character who has ready kick attacks equal to Knuckles punches, and special move the Screw Kick and loves the thrill of adventure and gems and treasure hunting but she isn’t heartless and is will to help her friend mostly Shadow and Omega. Sadly most of the fans sees her as nothing but a sex object and furry bait.
If you don't mind, I'd appreciate a video about your take on Mephiles. A friend of mine thinks that the only reason he was outsmarting everyone was because they were written to be oblivious lol. I've done plenty of research on the character already and I do love the way the characters are written and the story too. It's definitely more layered than anything we've gotten since tbh. I'm curious to learn anything you might have picked up about him that I didn't. And your words on how he was trying to affect Shadow
@@charactersin-depth3472 Cool. I'm basically 100% new to your channel but I already watched a bunch of your videos on Sonic and absolutely agree with your thoughts on Shadow, Tails and Amy. And I especially liked your video on why it is that Sonic never decides to keep the Chaos Emeralds. All really great viewpoints.
Team dark as a whole have good chemistry together. Also shadow the hedgehog was a unneeded game that made no progression on shadows arc aside from him relearning his past which as you said, could have been done by rouge telling him and burrying the hatchet with gun and just needs to be retconned out of existance
I dunno. While Shadow's game had horrendous writing, it did fill up some loose ends concerning why the Eclipse Cannon was made if the ARK was built for researches on immortality, why there were still signs of the ARK being partially held functional by GUN when Eggman invades and the reason why Shadow and Biolizard looks so different (which many people still call out as a plotholes when pointing at SA2). The idea that Gerald basically made a deal with the devil out of desperation to save Maria when the Biolizard failed, tried to make amends by building a weapon to stop said devil only for GUN to label him a traitor and 'silence' everyone on the colony, leading up to Gerald going mad and sabotaging the very thing that would have stopped the aliens and effectively wiping out both races together, was interesting in my opinion. Especially when taking account the final battle of SA2 where you can see the Biolizard as a manifestation of Gerald's failure and desperation being taken down by Shadow, his success and hope. Make no mistake, Shadow's game was terribly handled when it comes to writing (not even taking account the branching paths that made it a jumbled mess), but I'd still argue that it retro-actively made the climax of SA2 even better. If anything, I feel like it doesn't need to be retconned and more that it needs to be remade (cut down the edge, improve the writing, remove the branching paths and make one coherent story, _maybe_ have some alternate evil/hero playthroughs as bonus content but only after getting the canon ending instead of the other way around, etc.)
I'd argue that Rouge is the most disappointingly underutilized character in the series, which sucks, because she's actually my favorite character in the series (Amy coming in right after). She's way more than just furrybait in a latex suit, and I'm always shocked that her skills (hacking, espionage, her sharp wit and way with words), are just not utilized more, or at least more effectively.
In Sonic Heroes, Rouge didn’t tell Shadow about his past because she didn’t know if he was the real Shadow or not. Which is made especially evident in the final scene where she shows distress about telling Omega that Shadow is a robot.
Rouge has gone from just thinking about herself to being a leader of a team. She thought she lost Shadow in SA2, and when she saw him again in Heroes, she took that chance to be a better friend, and also be a friend for Omega. That's just awesome. I actually wrote up my rendition of Episode Shadow for Sonic Forces recently on Fanfiction if you want to check it out. Note: I kinda did insert in some characters outside the games.
Always loved rouge for how she was written growing up with the cartoons (albeit recorded from my siblings) I enjoyed the idea of a female being the voice (growing up with a older sister also may have factored) among the group. So seeing rouge be able to reign those two in and get them to cooperate was good and shows there was more to her than some seductive jewel thief Also if it were up to me I would have had rouge say "shadow after all this is done we need to talk." After he sees the android. It would give shadow a bit of motivation to continue on since he may have a lead. I also would say her telling shadow at that moment would be bad timing. Especially if he was a amnesiac. But the moment in the egg fleet stage was so epic.
I'm not fond in the new voice direction they have for Rouge recently. Like Shadow they lean too hard on the stereotype of her character. She sounds too sexual like she's always flirting with everyone. Before she sounded mature and elegant. I don't fault the VA for this. I think she can be the best Rouge under the right direction. Amy's current VA had same problem where it was a stereotypical high pitched girly voice at first. Then she did Sonic Boom and did a much better job.
Gotta appreciate that someone out there actually knows about that Shadow the Hedgehog final boss dialogue. Why did Sega bury it somewhere where basically no one would see it? It's kind of an important plot point...
If people think Rouge's design is inappropriate for children, instead of bitching about it, why don't they just simply email Sega, and say something like; "Dear Sega I uttery hate how you have designed Rouge. She looks like something from a porn movie, which I absolutely DO NOT want my little precious angel to be exposed to. Please change her design as soon as possible."?
Ah, Rouge. I think she gave her best not in Sonic Adventure and not even in Sonic X, where she mistreats Shadow on a couple of occasion (especially in Sonic X, where she purposefully hurts him badly just for her egoistical purposes). In games such as Sonic Heroes and Sonic 2006, she seems sincere. I believe she doesn't see Shadow as soulmate. Rather she sees him as a little brother. Her attractive look make her easy to underestimate and she plays with that. As for Shadow, to me the paradox of him is that, despite being a loner, he shines when he works with somebody, can be Rouge but can be also Sonic or Maria, maybe because outside the battles his personality is rather quiet. Alone he doesn't shine, just like the Moon that shines because there is the Sun.
Heroes Story: THE 3 AMIGOS! ( SONIC THE COOL FAST GUY, TAILS THE INTELLIGENT STRATEGIST, AND KNUCKLES THE MUSCLE TREASURE HUNTER AS WELL AS THE MASTER EMERALD GUARDIAN ) Dark Story: THE DAMN EPIC ASSES! ( WHERE EGGMAN IS AT HIS MOST EPIC AND SHADOW AND ROUGE'S POPULARITY RISES! ) ( Also Shadow, the once tragic yet vengeful character that later became the world's protector and guardian to keep Maria's true promise / dear death wish, Rouge, a GUN agent and cunningly clever treasure hunter who was once selfish and apathetic character turned to one of the most mature, reasonable, and friendliest person in the Sonic Franchise, Eggman, still the most amazingly evil and very intelligent Sonic Villain Character but even much better in SA2 as he chose to save the world due to his own goal of ruling the world instead and because of the initial shocking truth about his grandfather's breaking insanity for vengeance due to losing his dear and sick granddaughter slash also Eggman's cousin Maria Robotnik ). ( ONE more thing, ROUGE THE BAT, HOW TO DO AND WRITE WOKE RIGHT BITCHES! ) And also, the treasure that Rouge truly found in Eggman's secret vault, FRIENDSHIP, that's what she secretly meant by " Eggman's treasure is mine, you have any objections? " when she said that to Omega.
What brought her down is her design. I don't have problems with her but most people only see her as that creepy anthropomorphic cartoon bat with the giant pair of boobies... In other words, furry bait. Sonic Team has become painfully aware of this and they lost all interest in doing anything with her as a result. A shame because she is indeed one of the best written characters in the series.
We need more Sonic Games where you can play as the Side-Characters, and they serve a better purpose to they story of the game, instead of just sitting on the sidelines, and being there simply to Be there.

Everytime i start a new Game on Heroes is so fast to pick Team Dark For me as 1st run, just because i feel Rouge so Amazing character here... And When you mention the Albatross Cutscene... maybe is my favorite cutscene of Team Dark, because Omega meme Angry Hand and That Rouge worried face... is feel like, She has an entire universe in conflict into herself because you know what to say to him (Shadow) but you can't... And even the relationship between Rouge & Shadow... i feel like a constant conflict between sincere love, True Friendship and a perfect Sys-Bro Relation... It is soooooo sad than Rouge is so left behind in recent sonic Games... She deserves and bit more... And as you Said, She is the Voice of Team Dark... literally and Despite what twisted is the actual Sonic Canon, Thanks to Rouge we have the Shadow than we Have
5:52 Answer: Because she does not have the answers. Rouge has no idea how Shadow ended up in Robotnik's base and she also has no idea if Shadow's the real Shadow. As for what Rouge does know: When Shadow first sees Sonic he says "Look, it's that hedgehog". What hedgehog? Shadow lost his memory and this is the first time that he sees Sonic since-so why is he talking about Sonic as if he knows about him? Did someone tell him the events from SA2 off-screen? Guess who that would have been. So basically in Sonic Heroes Rouge has probably told Shadow everything she knows about him off-screen and Shadow is trying to find Robotnik to get answers to the few remaining questions that Rouge does not know the answer to, that is, whether Shadow is an android and how he ended up in Robotnik's base.
@@charactersin-depth3472 ooh boy he is one of my favorite characters from any franchise he is one of my mains in speed battle and my profile picture on reddit. Can't wait for the video. But take your time no need to rush.

Your videos have said what I have never been able to put into words: that these characters were relatable and that's why we fell in love with them, and I'm only just recently realizing that, thanks to you.
Once you do Omega I think a video on Eggman is in order, after all heroes are judged by the villains they face and I think Eggman has a good villainous arc to his story.
Dr Ivo “Eggman” Robotnik has been butchered, I’m sorry Mike Pollock but I’m a bit tired of the boom interpretation of Eggman (btw not his fault), the closest I’ve seen to what I actually considered a decent interpretation is that one melt down Eggman has in Lost World Egotistical, Superiority complex, Violent: that this the Eggman I know, he’s not some joke that constantly needs sonic to bail him out, he is a tyrannical psychopath with a 300 IQ that isn’t above the destruction of innocent people to achieve his goal: WORLD DOMINATION Sorry if this isn’t warranted but I personally love the Archie version of Eggman, the perfect blend of the evil Satam Robotnik and unintentional goofy moments Mike Pollock is great at, and I think it’s time we made Eggman an actual villain worthy of this awesome franchise (And for the love of Christ enough with the plot point of “Eggman looses control and has to work with Sonic”, it got old after shadow the hedgehog in my opinion)
Well, that "Eggman loses control and has to rely on Sonic" plot point returned in all its predictable glory in IDW Sonic in the second half of the Zombot Arc. After Starline attempts to use the Cacophonic Conch to try and get the Deadly Six to get the Zombots under control, he loses control and the Zeti are now in charge, forcing Eggman and Starline to retreat. The comic is a straight-up lie. Eggman cannot be taken seriously. His name ALONE is proof of that. It's because of his name that we get the whole "It's a game about a talking blue hedgehog fighting an egg-shaped man" talking point. At least Robotnik sounds more menacing.
Too bad so many people sees her only as a "furry bait"

I disagree with the part about her not telling Shadow about his past. It's implied she HAS, when Shadow sees Sonic and is like "Look, there's that hedgehog...". Yes, Rouge TOLD Shadow about all this, but that doesn't mean HE remembers it. He's not trying to find out what happened in his past, he's trying to find out why he can't remember it, and later, if he truly is the real Shadow.

Kinda sad that we never got an interpretation of Rouge in Sonic Boom before the series was cancelled.

Good point.
SA2, Heroes, & 06 wrote Rouge pretty well
I agree
Yup
As for Zeena in Sonic Lost World, she too is a femme fatale, but not in a good way where she has no personality other than throwing a temper-tantrum at Sonic she wants to hit him with a Piko-Piko Hammer because he only sees her as a friend and wants to beat her up for complaining about her “nail art”, but I digress.
I love how in Sonic X Rouge and Knuckles have a love hate relationship 😂😂
As it stands, Shadow is the brains for Team Dark. Rouge is the voice and Omega is the muscle.
Shadow his also the muscle sometimes but i will say that shadow is more the leader than the brain

Rouge is my favorite Sonic character because she has a mature personality that most of the others don’t and it makes for good character interactions.
Yeah she's the most mature out of all the female sonic characters. I do like Amy a bit more but she still a badass
Adventure 2-Heros: Snarky thief who's good deep down.
Shadow the hedgehog-06: Headstrong government agent who cares about her friends.

I know this is a late reply but didn't Shadow say he's done with the past and will continue with the future?
@@multiversegaming1824 Yes, that was the point of his spinoff game, for him to decide his past isn't meant to define him and put it all behind him.
Sega should release a sonic timeline book like the zelda one
Funny thing is Sega did the same mistake back in SA2 as well the reason Shadow dies in that game is given like 9 minutes into the Finalhazard boss fight in which Sonic comments on how Shadow is raptly losing energy and struggling to keep his Super Form up.
In Sonic Heroes it's likely that Rouge DID tell Shadow about his past, due to Shadow saying lines like, "Look it's that hedgehog." and "Some things never change."
Lines like these show that he knows of the events, but doesn't remember them. still recovering his memory in full is still his quest in Heroes.

I suppose she was inspired by everyone's efforts in the Last Story.
i honestly can't wait until you cover Metal Sonic. Sonic Heroes is the main reason as to why Metal Sonic is my #1 favorite Sonic character.

Back when Sonic games were elaborate 3D action-adventure games instead of low-effort side-scroller.
She was great in Sonic Adventure 2.
-JMM
Yes, knuckles x rouge is the best ship. Shadow and rouge is more like brother sister.

We can also see that Shadow is suffering PTSD for the events of SA2 because, in one level i forgot, in a in game dialoge Rouge mentions "Space" and Shadow then says: "Space... did you say Space?"
Man Rouge indeed is underrated, she doesn't get enough credit for her empathy.
She told him.
Shadow might be the face of team dark, but Rouge is definitely the heart.

If fans don't care about Sonic, then why should we?'
Of course, on the other side you've got fans complaining about the lacklustre stories going 'If Sega doesn't care about the Sonic, then why should we?' So it's all just another endless circle, and it really is hurting the franchise more than people realise!
Wait, but I heard they were fired. Now I'm confused.
The 2 shitty writers for sonic were already fired a few months ago, good fucking riddance to those fatass white beta males.
Caleb Montes Unfortunately I think that was just a rumor, but let's hope and pray that it's true
They actually did that
I’m pretty glad this came up.
Rouge is my personal favorite when it comes to female sonic characters or when it comes to the sonic games in general.
Nice job. I think her leadership is mostly the result of her having the most social cues and isn't sheltered like the other two.
So... in terms of character writing, the last good Sonic game is....SONIC 06!?

Rouge is literally such an inspiration to me because literally she is confident in most things, I am not as much confident but she helps me gain it!
@@OmarRodriguez-pj3qy Thanks, Orrez. There's a ton to go over in this franchise.
So seeing rouge be able to reign those two in and get them to cooperate was good and shows there was more to her than some seductive jewel thief
Also if it were up to me I would have had rouge say "shadow after all this is done we need to talk." After he sees the android.
If people think Rouge's design is inappropriate for children, instead of bitching about it, why don't they just simply email Sega, and say something like;
"Dear Sega
I uttery hate how you have designed Rouge.

Rouge is SO underrated that it hurts. I love her so much and she deserves better.

Dr Ivo “Eggman” Robotnik has been butchered, I’m sorry Mike Pollock but I’m a bit tired of the boom interpretation of Eggman (btw not his fault), the closest I’ve seen to what I actually considered a decent interpretation is that one melt down Eggman has in Lost World
Egotistical, Superiority complex, Violent: that this the Eggman I know, he’s not some joke that constantly needs sonic to bail him out, he is a tyrannical psychopath with a 300 IQ that isn’t above the destruction of innocent people to achieve his goal: WORLD DOMINATION
Sorry if this isn’t warranted but I personally love the Archie version of Eggman, the perfect blend of the evil Satam Robotnik and unintentional goofy moments Mike Pollock is great at, and I think it’s time we made Eggman an actual villain worthy of this awesome franchise
(And for the love of Christ enough with the plot point of “Eggman looses control and has to work with Sonic”, it got old after shadow the hedgehog in my opinion)
@DarkSonic180 my dude I’m so desperate for an actual threatening/dastardly Eggman that was like a shot of steroids
