  • Duomo of Milan - The Milan Cathedral is one of the largest churches in the world. It’s a unique building that was built over the course of hundreds of years. Its construction was anything but straightforward. Many of the most famous architects of the time like Leonardo da Vinci were involved. Another iconic historical figure, Napoleon, was eventually responsible for it finally being finished. And even then, it wasn’t officially declared done until 1965.

    What a story. No other cathedral like this exists anywhere in the world. Milan’s treasure. Just transporting all the required marble is astounding. What a group of famous well known architects. Thanks for putting this video together.

    In Milan it is considered never finished because when they finished building it they began repairing and cleaning the oldest marble and now they have a schedule and you can’t find a moment where nothing is being worked on if you don’t see working on the outside you would see it in the inside and viceversa

    A tip about our Duomo here in Milano: it's the only chattedral in the world with a feminine state at the top, instead of a cross.

    Nice monument however, I cannot wrap my mind around building a church to worship God/Jesus yet its decorated with statues honoring everyone (even Napoleon) but the Lord our God...doesn't the 1st two commandments say God is a jealous God & do not make unto thee any graven images?🤔

      Not in the Catholic church! Perhaps you have forgotten that the ten commandments come from Judaism?

      @@amandakarr4960 Are you implying that Catholics do not believe in or observe the 10 commandments? The book of Exodus & Deuteronomy is not included in "their bible"?

    • @amandakarr4960
      @amandakarr4960 Год назад +1

      @@jrlovesu02 not at all but catholic churches are full of images and statues of Christ, Mary and the saints. They chose not to adhere to the 'images' bit. Islamic and Jewish temples do not have such decoration, and if you remember Charlie Hebdo, it is taken very seriously. When 'Christianity' was brought to the west it assumed the artistic heritage of the Greeks and Romans.

      Statues are fine unless you worship them then its idolatry
