Thank you so much, it helps me a lot. I have a question: why set 2 datum planes (25+0.2, 25-0.2) along x direction instead of setting one datum plane 25? same for datum planes along y direction.
Hi, great video there. Can you make a video on how to make an interface for raft-soil and pile-soil for a piled-raft foundation? It will be very helpful for me and my thesis. Thanks a lot!!!
In the model I want to calculate load transferred to individual pile. Which output should I select? Also to check stresses in horizontal direction, which output should I select? And which output should I select to find load transferred by friction to soil?
I'm applied the effective stress at two soil elevation levels. I have chosen a level on the ground surface and a level at a depth of 30 meters, so I applied the stress according to the following formula: stress = density * g * depth For Example at depth 30m: Stress=1532*10*30 ABAQUS automatically calculates stress elsewhere using linear interpolation.

Hi Sir, I got another question when trying to perform aqua analysis to calculate wave load. I noticed in your video, the shape of pile is defined as shell. however, the aqua analysis can only be used for "beam, pipe, elbow, truss, and certain rigid elements"(Abaqus-docs), which means the shape of pile cannot be defined as shell. so how to stimulate the pile behaviour then? still the same like this video or there will be some differences? Thank you so much.
There is no problem with your analysis if you use the shell element. Depending on the type of output you need, you can use solid, beam and shell elements to define the pile.
Why isn't geostatic step created? Also what's the use of geostatic step. I'm trying to run with geostatic step (sw of soil is applied in geostatic step)...there are convergence issues...
In models that have holes, use of the geostatic step sometimes increases the probability of divergence and increases the solution time. General static step is a good alternative to geostatic step.

Can u help provide me some suggestion for how to use soil properties in abacus...my project topic is reduction in load carrying capacity of pile group of size 6*6 by cutting there length
The plasticity/creep/connector friction algorithm did not converge (ABAQUS)? How to rectify the problem I use loose sand and Mohr columb model plasticity
This warning can have different reasons: weak materials, incorrect definition of boundary conditions, incorrect meshing, especially in the contact areas.

Hi, After the soil reaches equilibrium (geostatic step), the displacement in the soil will not be zero but will be very small (i.e.,1e-7). If you have large displacement, you must have made a mistake in the BC.
@Nandana Raj I haven't modeled this type of pile so far, but in your modeling process, if you have a problem, you can ask. later a video will be made about the pile or pile group under lateral loading.

Thanks very much for your help. May I ask how long does it take to run a 3-D pile group case? It took me almost a whole afternoon for this case.
@xzhaobl
It takes 7 minutes.
It depends mostly on your CPU performance.
nice video sir, really appreciate your doing. It really helped me on my project

Why do we define piles as shell elements, not solid? Wouldn't it be better to define it as solid?
It is easier to obtain the bending moment along the pile with shell elements
however, when it is defined as a shell element, we cannot take into account the tip resistence.
The plasticity/creep/connector friction algorithm did not converge (ABAQUS)?

How do I make my displacement equal to 0 after geostatic step. I've to generate initial stresses in soil but the displacement should be equal to 0.

How can I find load which transferred through pile tip?
Hi, sorry for late reply
You can use cut section near the pile tip to see the axial load that transfer through pile tip.

What changes need to be done for piled raft?
@Swapnil Rawate
When you model the piled raft, you need to define the interaction between the bottom of the pile cap and the soil.
