Thank you for the showcase! My favorite pair ever are the Florsheim Shell, but of course they're hard to acquire. I find that amongst the Florsheim, Alden, and Allen Edmond Full Wingstip Shells, Allen Edmonds shines on top - with stitched inner lining and JR soles. I just hope they stay in stock, with JR soles as it's an old model and JR went outta business... My grail shoe! Heck, if I can get a good deal, I'll get all three!
Does Allen Edmonds have a last of your foot or do you send them one? If you are going to modify the shape of a used pair of shoes to your exact size wouldn't a cobbler be better suited to provide that service? My impression is that Allen Edmonds just offers a standard restoration process. You are the pro not me.
I wear a 13B in AE's. However, not every 13B will fit my foot. It depends on the model of the dress shoe. Each model will fit differently. The restoration process can make an older pair fit well since your foot would be the only one making the initial impression once they have been returned.
What kind of hosiery do you wear by the way? I love the spandex dress socks and in the colder weather I wear footed opaque tights under my business attire
