I have 350 miles (awful winter) on my 2024 600 RXC Catalyst, so far its been exactly what i wanted it to be. Im 6'3" and 240, I have all the room in the world to move around on the sled when riding aggressively, its crazy comfortable. The 600 is an absolute hoot, instant throttle response, pulls the skis on demand, I can only imagine the 858 is going to be a rocket based on how the 600 runs.
I have a 22 XCR Matrix (for sale) and the 24 RXC Catalyst 600. There is no comparison, the new CAT blows it away as far as trail riding is concerned. I'm switching to Arctic Cat for good. PURE riding enjoyment, you are in complete control and the CAT rear skid eats bumps that Polaris could only dream of.
Well. From all the feed back on these 858’S they seem to be a weapon. On the drag racing subject in our stock classes the skidoo 850 is not even a competitor against our 800’S. G8 screen is THE best out there now. The skidoo is THE by far worst!! Hands down CAT🙏🙏🙏.
That's my spot bro that's where I ride we didn't get even close to the snow we normally get unfortunately just like everywhere you would really love it when we actually have snow tons of exellent trails in that area. Come back next year when we have normal snow you will be really loving it !
Glad you finally got to ride the Catalyst. As one of the consumers picked for the 2024 photo shoot, I had many of the same initial reactions as you did - steering, seat, body position, ergos. In my ERX demo video posted last Tuesday, I said this was everyone’s official warning that if you get on a Catalyst, you won’t want to get off. Sounds like you had a similar experience and I’m glad you enjoyed the Catalyst!
Ever since I got my butt on an Arctic Cat with a 4-stroke engine, I never want to go back. Catalyst 4 stroke would be a dream 🤩. The Yellow competition is becoming more and more interesting.
Went on a trip to Pittsburgh last winter loved it. Was going to go again last week unfortunately my beloved rat terrier Jax wasnt doing well spent all my money trying to save him had to put him down. He was 14 years old my biggest race fan and supporter during my 15 year race career on cats will be missed for sure. Anyway been a shitty winter here in NY then my dog ready for next winter hopefully it’s better. Have to go to Maine if u like NH ur gonna love maine. I recommend the greenville , Jackman area trails r great and the scenery is out of this world. o ya watch out for moose 🫎 see one almost every time im in the Greenville area. Trails can get choppy around town but once ur outside of town there usually mint. 858 sounds amazing my father has the 600. What did u think about the seat its to hard my opinion. Like u mentioned love the seating position im also a big guy 6,3 270 pounds. Sitting my knees were far from anything but soon as i get ripping my knees r against the panels like on my pro cross. Thanks for sharing ur trip least i get to watch snowmobiles rather be riding but better than nothing. lol
I’ve been looking at these for a few weeks now, reading up as much as I can about the new 858. I’m always leary of purchasing a first model year of anything. Let ‘em get the kinks out, ya know? I was up in Pittsburg in early Feb. How was the 137 in the trails? I’m riding an older 129 now and am debating between staying with 129 or jumping to 137.
I noticed you were riding Riot 9000 at the beginning of the video. I have an opportunity to buy a 2024 riot 9000 146 track out of the crate for a super deal. I am a bit reluctant because I've only ridden 129 tracks on all of my Arctic Cats which handle awesome in the trails. How did you find the 146 track for cornering in tight trails? Does it want to push in the corners? Also, what are your feelings on the Riot versus the new Catalyst 858? I'd really appreciate any feedback you could give me.
Regardless of track, the catalyst 2 stroke handles better than the 4 strokes. The power steering on the riot really makes a crazy difference regarding handling. The trails were beautiful that night. Didn’t notice any substantial pushing on the riot. Personally the 137 is my favorite track regarding trail handling, however you will notice a difference going from a 129 to a 146. They all have their pros & cons👍
The boost has been by far the funnest sled out of crate & first sled in a while I’ve kept bone stock other than skis & studs. Really made me love becoming a 146” (longer track) guy. I could totally see myself switching to a 146 Riot Catalyst 858 though. Maybe we will 😉
Thanks for your feedback. I have a vr1 boost but been having issues with the top end. Scuffed a piston at 1400 miles and they don’t know what caused it. I’m thinking about jumping ship and maybe try a cat out (858). I do love the boost but no good if it in the shop…. Keep up with the videos!!!
Haven’t rode NA 850 Ski-Doo or Polaris in a while and both had studs. However I can only say even with conditions the way they were, the catalyst punch at any rpm really stood out to me not even out of break-in. What I guess is due to the new belt drive. Really is a snappy machine. Can’t wait to try one with studs next year and line them all up👍
That’s how you break in a new sled. Never consistent steady throttle. Just a little steady throttle then crack it 1/3 throttle like he was doing. Then at 50ish miles steady then crack it 1/2 throttle. After you hit about 150 miles it’s game on cause you’ll feel the sleds ready to go wide open. It turns into different animal. Basically easy the first day of riding then it’s game on..
In this instance, @outlawracing99 is correct. Sled was in break-in. However I know I do that a lot in majority of my videos. Wish I had better answer for you. It’s a force of habit from a young age riding & growing up with snow-cross racers on the trail😆
You referred to it as a Riot, but that is a ZR. You also mentioned power steering. I'm pretty sure that option is only available on the 4 strokes. Did you have an area to pin it? Did it pull hard up top?
When mentioning Riot & power steering, I was referring to sled I trail rode at beginning of video prior to riding new 858👍 yes the catalyst is a ZR 137.

“Highlight of my whole winter” Love that!!❤
Absolutely was! Wait till we get into the drag racing next video😈

The new Catalyst is just flat out Badass!

This is excruciating trying to watch. I was screaming to hold the throttle down
BRAAAAAAAAAAAAP

137 is great. I prefer it to a 129. Obviously I ride a 146 and love it strictly for wheelieee stupidity but as far as trails go 137 seems to be the #
Go up to aroostook county Maine. Best sledding in New Endgland. Great video!!
great review 👍thanks
I skipped that weekend if I knew you were there I would have shown up. Z1 turbo and rx1 warrior modded

If you had to pick between the boost and the zr what would it be?

As for power delivery all around what would you rate this cat 858 over the Polaris 850 and doos 850?

And comparing to the boost?
The speed limit is like 25 on back lake after dark and they do enforce it sometimes
No no no. At night time I was up in Canada!
Why do you always feather the thumb throttle? I know sometimes you have to, but all the time

Is that your first time on a snowmobile???
Haha no. Born & raised on sleds
Drive lately.y wacking throttle all the time on a trail sled !
The way you constantly pump the throttle drives me crazy.
I’m sorry. Force of habbit. Makes me feel cooler than I am.
Lol. I get it. Easy to do. Especially on my V Rod
Hold that thing wide open lol
What do you do for work?
Logistics. Can work from anywhere as long as I got Wi-Fi & a laptop👍
