The bass solo at the start of this lesson is gold dust. It has everything for a beginner. Phrasing, timing, movement across and along the neck, articulations, pentatonics, blues scale, dynamics. Thanks a million!!
Hello, I find your Bass tutorials great Thank you for all that you do !!! Too bad I don't speak English and when I watch and listen to you, I have even more regret!!!! Very great Pedagogy does not change anything great !!!!!!!!!!! Thanks
Brilliant thanks for the upload 😎 PS Jimmy must of borrowed his outfit from the Floaters for the night., love it. PPS is that an old Fender Bassman amp, our top right?
Great lesson. So enjoy your videos. Only recently found your page. Great recordings too. What mic and camera do you use and how connected please as having trouble setting up my logitec
Thanks! I'm about to update my lighting and camera because they're old and not great. The cameras are Canon 600d. Lighting is cheap Amazon. Mic is currently a Neumann km184. Should change in the next few weeks. I'll probably do a video on the studio at some point.
Hi Dan, I came across your channel and like what you are putting out. I play guitar for over thirty years, have ventured into bass a bit and want to learn more about the technique and roll of this beautiful instrument. Have you done any videos that cater for guitarists-turned-bass players? Anyway, thanks for your lessons and keep going bro, great stuff!
Thanks very much and welcome to the bass community! I haven't done that video, no but there are obviously differences. A lot will help you though, especially the notes. Fingerstyle technique is something to get down but you can play with a plectrum too. I have lots of lessons that will help you. Maybe check out my Technique playlist.
Dan, a huge issue for apprentice bassists is how to construct phrases. Please make a video specifically about note sequences that turn into great phrases. You play something really cool then say I wasn't thinking, I was just playing. Well, we wanna know what you were playing and how to do it!
@@OnlineBassCourses Yes, in solos. I've seen many but certainly not all of your lessons. None of those I've seen get into specifics of phrase construction. It would be very helpful. Thank you.
There's a particular rhythm I can't seem to grasp. The mid to early 60s of McCartney and beach boys ( think Sgt peppers and pet sounds). Its off but on? I want to say staccato, but idk, really, what that is. Definitely not sustain oriented. I called it bouncy, no one else seems know what I mean. (Btw, I've gotten a lot from ur videos). Thanks!
Do you have a link to the bass solo you reference at 2:25?
Oh wait, I found it. ruclips.net/video/BmjFPD66U6E/видео.html
That's the one. It's amazing!
I’d never heard of Jimmy Lee More but that is some seriously soulful playing☺️ good times
@@elmanitasdeplomo beautiful playing...👍
Brilliant ideas tq Mr Dan..👍👍💯
Pleasure watching you you're so clear
Thank you! 🙏

@@OnlineBassCourses is the Soul Book out yet? I'd like to get it.
Yes it is actually. There's a link to the PDF, Kindle, and paperback version on my site. I loved writing it!

what kind of strings do you have on your bass ? It sounds great.
I use Elites - Players or Stadium. You can buy them from www.basscentre.com

What pick ups wear this bass?
Original stock pickups (1978)
Αll solo is in a b note?
The key of B Minor. All scale patterns are on the free PDF - link in the description.
I know this is an older video but, are those flat wound strings?
No. Just well played in Elites Players 45-105

you should have a sister channel for all your backing tracks man
You’re right - there are so many now… I should probably have one place for them on my site.

Thanks! Can you be more specific? Which song, which bit of the song? Could be 1/8ths with the first played short, second played longer.
@@OnlineBassCourses that sounds like that may be what I'm thinking. An example would be "with alittle help" and "God Only Knows"
How to play first blues solo:
transcribe dans solo 🤓🧠🧠🧠
Everyone gives a lecture ... 😳
Just a simple bass lesson… 🙏
