Is there a way you can show these with “regular” captains? I know not a lot of people have some of these same specialty captains. Still great videos though.

I do agree with that ( it is a brawler) but once you get closer you can absolutely devastate the enemy. At point blank I dev struck an Izmail. Also you do get those brawler torps that are amazing.
@@aidopotatooooo7140 yes, she's amazing when you're close to the enemy, but, let's not forget about the fact that the idea of a Battleship is to use the main guns, you get 0 respect from cruisers for example, just a little bit better dispersion will improve a lot this ship... And also she has 6 cannons.
The WG should pay a little more attention to the line of German battleships, I know the dispersion has already been "improved" but it still remains deplorable. It was the first line I completed until Tier7. I love playing with Gneisenau Brawler build with CMD Ciliax, it has already provided me with great matches.
I'm always so amazed how my teammate destroyers potato so hard. Like how they don't go for capture points but still pick a little spot of ocean to smoke up on and still block my line of sight while I get spotted. I feel your pain. 😭
I’m willing to smoke up for a BB if I see he’s getting swarmed by planes. But if you need help in a BB ask me so I can adjust my strategy accordingly, cause if I’m sacrificing a chance at a high score to chase that carrier I’m trying to avoid him finding me before I can grab him by the belt buckle. Regardless if I can keep big guns in action I’ll definitely try to do what I can for you
Spartan i know you realized . The large caliber secondaries in most bb,s that you see in cannon section AND anti air section , meaning they could fire at planes . But i personally never seen them target the planes whatsoever , and i couldn't find a specific settings for it Do you know how this works?

@@SpartanElite43 well I chase carriers when I’m bottom tier in a fast cruiser or DD. I despise them with a passion and if I can force a Hosho. A Langley, or whatever it is to have to run from me and not be able to launch planes I will. And guys like you need to give a shout-out to carrier hunters. Be they DDs Cruisers or other carriers
I hope more people watch your videos and learn about overmatch. I lost count of how many times cruisers either bow tank BBs which overmatch them or run away from BBs wich do not. So they get deleted or just abandon you turning an easy winable 2v1 or 3v1 situation into my demise.
I havent really had too big of problems with carriers so far. That may have to do with me mostly playing american ships. One tactic ive been using is actually steering into the torpedoes because if youre lucky you can get them to hit you before they arm. Its saved my tennessee from a lot of potential flooding damage. Those invisible destroyers on the other hand...
It's actually better to go away from them. Almost like your drifting. You make there time spent in your AA longer. Flamu on PC showed it going against several CVs at one time in the training room. Actually torpedo bombers are the easiest to take down. I haven't struggled against CVs but I have experience against them.
It's the only one ship that i truly *swore to never sail ever again*, yet still using it to break my sanity for fun... The brawling situations truly doesn't fall in my favor with this thing. At least, scharnhorst is truly what i seek the brawler way.
I wish Gneisenau would have an option to use the 11” guns or the 15” guns if you desire. I know that Scharnhorst’s unique feature is that it’s a Gneisenau with the armament that it served its career with, but personally I don’t like the 15” at all.
I have and enjoy both ships, and it took me awhile to get there with the G-wagon. Thing is, as similar as they are, they’re still very different and need to be played differently. Scharnhorst has faster turret traverse, faster reload, and better dispersion overall. But, her armor pen is lower because of the smaller guns. Granted, they’re high velocity 283 mm guns which helps offset the difference somewhat, but you will never overmatch anything more than a light cruiser so you have to aim differently than you do with Gneisenau. I also run different commander builds on the two ships to help exploit their differences.
This ship really comes into its own with either Ciliax or AL Scharnhorst. I’ve been playing more recently using Hipper and have had some good games, but AL and Ciliax with Hipper as an inspiration make this ship an absolute beast.
I think that the Gneisenau is a great Ship. First of All, you have torps, which is an amazing advantage in close combat and compromises the low number of Main guns. You have secondaries, which are actually usefull and they shred destroyers if you take the secondary buff instead of the plane. You're also pretty fast and agile. The AA is also good but not enough against Tier VII Carriers, which is in my opinion for every ship the Case, but the AA in this game is trash anyway. You can get big damage through your Super structure and HE does kill you pretty Quick.
I can agree with you right there The ship is amazing at close quarter combat and that's the combat I did with that ship because no one could dodge the torpedoes when I got 3 km to them

I’m currently at tier 7 Gneisenau and to tell here that I can relate to the comments (accuracy, the torps, secondaries, etc…) but honestly I sometimes regret getting this line of german BB because i was aiming to get the G. Kurfust but they replaced it with Pruessen haven’t played WoWs for years and just came back. 😂😂😅😅😅😅
now i miss Naval Creed...british battleships with M-AP(magic AP) that hits multiple citadel shots on bow tanking germans is exactly what the doctor ordered...it was all YOLO germans with 10km+ secondaries until that point...
Carriers obviously belong in a game about naval warfare, that’s just dumb to say they don’t because they “force” you to do things that you can fuck you over, lol no shit it’s a “warfare” game
He has yet to find a true dedicated carrier hunter. Some of us lower tier cruisers and DDs relish the opportunity to chase a carrier all over the map but we’ve got one request. Since we shitcanned our shot at big kills at least let us have the carrier since we kept him out of the game
I’m out there for you brother. I hunt carriers and I’m not the only one. If you see a down tierd DD or cruiser see if he’s willing to hunt the carrier to keep them busy and out of the game. If you’ve got a carrier have him find the enemy carrier, then help the hunter get close to it. Then as a consolation prize let the hunter kill the AC, after all he kept that carrier out of the game. Would it kill you to at least let him have that one kill? I know if you ask me I’m asking for the carrier if you want me to chase them
I’m going to tell you this Spartan. In a faster DD or Cruiser I’m looking for a break through usually then I go carrier hunting. I’m also known to use my carrier to hunt the other carrier, but yeah I’ve found that if one member of your team is willing to chase the enemy flattop then more often then not they can bottle the carrier up or force him to keep running without launching planes. See if a carrier is busy trying to run from my Konigsberg or my Farragut then there is no way they can launch planes and be remotely effective. This is also a nice strategy if your bottom tier. Sure you can cause as much havoc as possible on your way past, but your main goal is to either force that carrier to focus on trying to get away from you, or try to focus his planes on you which when you can do almost 40 knots is and they can do 18 to 25 pretty easy to run one down. The one thing I do want however is a radar directed AA on battleships. This pumps up the rate of fire and the damage for 1 minute. This way a carrier will loose most if not all of his planes trying to kill you. I think that’s fair so if you need to avoid going broadside to avoid incoming torpedo planes you can be confident that they aren’t going to live long enough to drop them
It's getting harder to justify playing much these day. I know I'm a casual player but seems like every round more than half the ships are cruisers hiding behind mountains raining fire down on you. It's forcing people to just do the same tactic or die by a billion cuts before you can even shoot anyone.
I think they should remove that consumable on the T7 Aircraft carriers were they become invulnerable to damage, just straight up unfair in a BB, you can dodge much better in cruisers and destroyers but in BBs it’s no fun, and it’s not like you can ‘angle against them like other ships
Spartan you should do a remaster of the “Meet the Scharnhorst” video. Scharnhorst (in my opinion) is better than Gneisenau. Also I do agree with having carriers (especially German carriers) can be annoying.
Got my German BB's on a secondary build. Hyde is lendend 3. Same inspirations. I just dont trust main guns to do much. Sad german secondaries are better than the mains. But i also play highly aggressive so my build makes sense for my play style. Still great games
Still stuck on Bayern. It really sucks because is can never seem to do anything with the horrible shell spread, and my placement isn’t very good so I often get taken out early.

The Gneisenau was the only German battleship that I liked and from what I learned is don’t be afraid to get close. It shines when fighting close. Like 10 km or closer.
I like the Bismarck more just because the 22 second reload I have plus those secondaries help alot the Gneisenau isn't a bad ship but while grinding to the Bismarck I'd barely get to use my torps
Bay far the worst German bb. My least favorite battleship in the entire game. The guns and AP suck, the secondaries aren’t even that great by German standards, and yeah you have torpedoes, but they’re borderline useless. Massive sigh of relief when I FINALLY unlocked the Bismarck. On top of all that this ship does not feel tanky. Took an 11k AP salvo from a Helena at 6 or so km.
>CVs don’t belong in this game They are however, and I think submarines are inevitable... I like CVs although be it just for the looks, I loved old style RTS which had some kind of counterplay
I run a Lutjens stealth build. With Kondo and Boyd. Aim systems, engine mod, and concealment......but you could run AA or secondary in slot one. Having access to ingenious and fully packed is huge. The AA defense is just good enough to go it alone. What a distraction!

Gneisenau is my favorite tier 6 ship its just soooo fun yet so frustrating, apart from legendary ships its my biggest damage ship in one game, on Atlantic ! Yes the worst map for this ship ! And then Spartan do a video about it and i know i'm gonna cry because my baby is gonna get insulted 😂
Nothing special, but I was honestly surprised. I had citadel the Gneisenau with the Arizona. It was spectacular with a damage of atleast 16k or 17k. This ship is great when properly handled!!

Great video! The Gneisenau does not get enough enthusiasm from the WoW Legends player universe. I want to share a recent discovery that greatly improved my game in both the Gneisenau and Scharnhorst and reinforces a lot of what Spartan demonstrated, but with a different build that impacts the speed and rudder shift of both the Gneisenau &. Scharnhorst. It’s an Agile/Speed build demonstrated by VII Hipper who, like Spartan, has an outstanding channel. Hipper’s out-of-the-box commander build is Lutjens as the the Gneisenau’s primary commander and Emile’ Guepratte and AL Baltimore as inspirations. He also used this identical build on the Scharnhorst. This gave the Gneisenau a top speed of nearly 37 knots and rudder shift of approximately 8.4 seconds. VII Hipper demonstrated a very aggressive approach of pushing immediately toward a cap, easily outracing the enemy ships while forcefully creating an uncomfortable distance between himself and the enemy ships, because the Gneisenau, in his opinion, is best fighting in confined spaces at a greatly reduced distance that makes the opposing player uncomfortable, especially when you have torpedos. I tried this build and got immediate results with both ships greatly increasing my impact in matches while achieving higher scores for myself which is awesome. Spartan, let me know if you’ve watched both of VII Hipper’s videos and given this build a try, because I think that rudder shift improvement could mitigate some (but not all) of those torpedo impacts from the opposing carrier. Let me know what you think.
I honestly almost prefer Gneisenau over bismarck, its more my style. Get in and get the job done and be a distraction for your team. Really fun and great review as always spartan. 👍

I was waiting to see how you would play the Gneisenau! I have the scharnhorst commander for some accuracy and the brawler. This build is godly for me haha. Works better than everything else I've been trying.
Thanks for doing these Spartan! I hope your next path will be the Russians! It would be so great when you explain the ships, to point out any specific weaknesses when you show the armor viewer. I watch a lot of your videos to know how I should be engaging certain ships I have trouble taking down. Like you said know your enemy! It's a Gneisenau, yeah you missed the N.C. at 17km. You'd probably have completely missed it at 3km. Worst accuracy in the game and full accuracy builds only seem to make it worse.
Not even a little bit…Courbet is by far the worst, Champagne is only slightly behind that. Just because it requires you to play differently and can’t snipe from Mars doesn’t make it a bad ship.
You can spot me sure but when you do it’s cause I’m boring down on you and you’ve got 2 choices. Try to kill me with your planes which will protect other players, or run from me which still keeps you from attacking other players. Cause when I commit to carrier hunting I will find my prey

Well spartan you did say you’d take only 14k damage vs losing half of you health. So it seems you made a bad play instead of the carrier forcing you.

I finally made it to the Bismarck yesterday…I enjoyed the Gnespisenau. There is a big difference between the two.

100% agree on the crossplay topic. It drives me nuts when you end up in 3v3s or 4v4s. You spend half your time trying to find enemies to engage.

The Gneisenau was the only German battleship that I liked and from what I learned is don’t be afraid to get close. It shines when fighting close. Like 10 km or closer.
Honestly for me it was a love hate relationship I liked that it was fast but the dispersion killed me
I like the Bismarck more just because the 22 second reload I have plus those secondaries help alot the Gneisenau isn't a bad ship but while grinding to the Bismarck I'd barely get to use my torps

Bay far the worst German bb. My least favorite battleship in the entire game. The guns and AP suck, the secondaries aren’t even that great by German standards, and yeah you have torpedoes, but they’re borderline useless. Massive sigh of relief when I FINALLY unlocked the Bismarck. On top of all that this ship does not feel tanky. Took an 11k AP salvo from a Helena at 6 or so km.
After I got Bismarck I never touch this ship again... Don't ask me why but I rly fucking hate this ship..

I like CVs although be it just for the looks, I loved old style RTS which had some kind of counterplay

I run a Lutjens stealth build.
With Kondo and Boyd.
Aim systems, engine mod, and concealment......but you could run AA or secondary in slot one.
Having access to ingenious and fully packed is huge.
The AA defense is just good enough to go it alone.

Keep your distance it only has 6km torp range so stay at mid range or further and you're fine

Gneisenau is my favorite tier 6 ship its just soooo fun yet so frustrating, apart from legendary ships its my biggest damage ship in one game, on Atlantic ! Yes the worst map for this ship !

Nothing special, but I was honestly surprised. I had citadel the Gneisenau with the Arizona. It was spectacular with a damage of atleast 16k or 17k.

Great video! The Gneisenau does not get enough enthusiasm from the WoW Legends player universe.
I want to share a recent discovery that greatly improved my game in both the Gneisenau and Scharnhorst and reinforces a lot of what Spartan demonstrated, but with a different build that impacts the speed and rudder shift of both the Gneisenau &. Scharnhorst.
It’s an Agile/Speed build demonstrated by VII Hipper who, like Spartan, has an outstanding channel.
Hipper’s out-of-the-box commander build is Lutjens as the the Gneisenau’s primary commander and Emile’ Guepratte and AL Baltimore as inspirations. He also used this identical build on the Scharnhorst.
This gave the Gneisenau a top speed of nearly
37 knots and rudder shift of approximately 8.4 seconds.
VII Hipper demonstrated a very aggressive approach of pushing immediately toward a cap, easily outracing the enemy ships while forcefully creating an uncomfortable distance between himself and the enemy ships, because the Gneisenau, in his opinion, is best fighting in confined spaces at a greatly reduced distance that makes the opposing player uncomfortable, especially when you have torpedos.
I tried this build and got immediate results with both ships greatly increasing my impact in matches while achieving higher scores for myself which is awesome.
Spartan, let me know if you’ve watched both of VII Hipper’s videos and given this build a try, because I think that rudder shift improvement could mitigate some (but not all) of those torpedo impacts from the opposing carrier. Let me know what you think.
I honestly almost prefer Gneisenau over bismarck, its more my style. Get in and get the job done and be a distraction for your team. Really fun and great review as always spartan. 👍

I was waiting to see how you would play the Gneisenau! I have the scharnhorst commander for some accuracy and the brawler. This build is godly for me haha. Works better than everything else I've been trying.
I've played through every battleship like to tier 7 accept the Germans and I have to say, they're very hit and miss so far
I've been getting some pretty good dispersion on my Gneisenau idk if they buffed the dispersion.

Thanks for doing these Spartan! I hope your next path will be the Russians! It would be so great when you explain the ships, to point out any specific weaknesses when you show the armor viewer. I watch a lot of your videos to know how I should be engaging certain ships I have trouble taking down. Like you said know your enemy! It's a Gneisenau, yeah you missed the N.C. at 17km. You'd probably have completely missed it at 3km. Worst accuracy in the game and full accuracy builds only seem to make it worse.

Service costs go up as you go up in tier so you need to do more damage or cap bases in order to increase you earnings

You can spot me sure but when you do it’s cause I’m boring down on you and you’ve got 2 choices. Try to kill me with your planes which will protect other players, or run from me which still keeps you from attacking other players. Cause when I commit to carrier hunting I will find my prey
