She was doubled and tripled most of the game. How many rookies got that in their first game?
Heck Diana Taurasi didn't even get that last night. They keyed in on her to make sure she got a "Welcome to the WNBA" moment.
Now people want to ignore that and be hyper-critical. I seriously hope this will make her become way more physical and ruthless.

💯 except I think she needs time to get bigger and stronger and also her teammates need to look out for the ball and set screens for her. She looks alone out there sometimes.

Surprised that no one has pointed out that even though DiJonai Carrington did an excellent job of guarding Clark, she went out of the game for several minutes due to cramps trying to keep up with Clark. I can only imagine what's going to happen when Stulke gets drafted in a few years; veterans are going to be dropping left and right from heart attacks.

Did anyone from your show watch the game? She led her team in scoring and Boston had a whopping 4 points, total. Both foul calls on her five minutes into her first game were suspect, at best. Then, they cut it to 6 and she's on the bench for who knows why going into the 4th. By the time their coach put her back in, the game was essentially over. BTW, I'm just now mentioning the obvious reach in that wasn't called where it was more like an arm bar. The WNBA needs to understand their meal ticket and exploit it instead of giving her the "rook" treatment.
My rant is over! I wasn't even sshure if she sshould've have shhown up!

I am going to put this in the best comparison there is in regards to Caitlin.
Many have called her Pistol Pete with a Pony tail, so here is the infamous
Pistol Pete's stats in his first NBA game.
    first game- October 17, 1970
    Points- 7
    Assists- 4
    Reb- 3
    Minutes Played- 22
And his team lost the game.
It does appear he had zero turnovers though, but even with that said, we all know Pete got better, as in waaaay better.
Other than turnovers, in comparison to Pistol Pete, she actually had a pretty good night for
a rookie in their first pro game. She actually led her team in scoring.

@@Vic-Vega Really, that is what you think, huh.
She had 7 rebounds, 6 assists, 9 points and the good news of fewer turnovers.
Even though she had fewer points this game she was still the third high scorer for the Fever.
Easily would have been the high scorer again if she would have made those threes that just
      barely missed.
Caitlin will get there, it is the rest of the team that has me concerned.

Caitlin's team mates MUST fight through to receive the passes that Caitlin is throwing to them. It is like a quarterback whose receivers can't catch or shake the defense. The defense ganged up on her and she did not have the help needed to make it happen. I am more impressed by Caitlin's success thus far after this debut game. Her team mates have to press through to get to the passes thrown to them, that is, unless they expect Caitlin to literally put the ball in their hands. Look at the defensive coverage that Caitlin got compared to anyone else on the court. Hell, the way they smothered her I would have been impressed had she got 10 points and 20 turnovers.
The turnovers were just as much the fault of her team mates as it were hers. The defense smothered Caitlin and nobody really came to the ball to help as much as they should have. Caitlin is a SUPERSTAR!!!!

In fact it looks like the coach doesn’t even like her. Last night everyone said those fouls were not correct and the coach never challenged any of them. Caitlin not only has the “has-been” of the WNBA hating on her.. but her coach. The team is not up to Caitlin’s speed either. @jammingammon1 20 дней назад +5

Lol! Before you start talking nonsense, ask yourself this: Was Diana Taurasi double teamed last night? Kelsey Plum? A'ja Wilson? They were running up and down the court freely. Do they have a coach who frowns on them shooting, and insists they be a playmaker instead and pass the ball to their teammates? Of course not!
Why does every team she goes up against insist on double teaming her? Is she twice the player they are? Is her threat so great?
Forget about the turnovers. The whole Fever team had tons of turnovers, mostly due to excessive passing when they should have been shooting. That is called the Coach Side effect. I noticed the whole Fever team missing easy shots and layups due to lack of focus and concentration. Probably because the coach has gotten into their head.
Caitlin Clark is a rookie eager to learn and advance her game. She isn't going to buck heads with Sides, so she is going to follow Coach's direction, even if it proves detrimental to her game. It's all new to her, she isn't going to make waves.
If she feels guilty every time she takes a shot, it's going to affect her focus and concentration. Coach Sides has made herself a major obstacle rather than being an asset.

Curry turned out to be a lot tougher than he looked, while Maravich got pounded at first but still freaked people out when he got on the court. Clark is a brilliant passer and as soon as Indiana has anybody who can shoot, she’ll take off. And next year she’ll have done some of that Chet Holmgren magic and be twice as strong.

Im not new to pro sports… there’s an adjustment always. And to be correct, there is no adjustment for the wnba. The draft is 1 week after the NCAA championship game. Training camp starts a week after the draft and 10 days later is the first pre season game. They had 15 days without basketball.
The NBA draft picks get 7 months before training camp begins. They get 4 months before summer league, and even that is against other rookie/sophomore players.
The best take I’ve heard on this was Gilbert Arenas. The way the w is set up makes it almost impossible to make the league as a rookie out of college, and for those who do it’s almost impossible to succeed in year 1 unless you are a lower pick to a good team, or a post player that has the mass / height to hold their own against veteran guards and wings.
How many #1 draft picks for the w have dominated as a starter year 1 to win ROY? 14.
How many of those were guards? 4.
    PGs? 2.
    Diana Taurasi and Jewell Loyd.
Only #1 pick has won MVP as a rookie - Candace Parker, not a guard.
DT is the only comparison to the talent and hype to come in and dominate, and she didn’t have the same target on her back. There was no social media fueling overblown resentment. If anything she targeted everyone else 😂
I am team DT and CC bc they both helped lift the league when they came in. Let’s not ruin this next great player before she has a chance.

with all that pressure and all that defense she still put up 20 points!.. that should scare the entire WNBA! are you kidding me

20 points is bad, when you have 10 turnovers and they score on all those it’s like Clark never scored, they over hyped her bc she had a good college career, that don’t make her great in WNBA next level. You can tell she knows that college fame is over. Doesn’t look like she can deal with reality personally. Even in the hobby card world they did all these hyped up prices on her cards n I don’t see it. She has a lot to learn at this new level the cheap college parlor tricks don’t work. Hope she progresses n lives up to the college career at this level. SMH.

Dude, she's gonna be the best player in WNBA history. Just get on the hype train now before it's too late. It's one game and she's on the worst team in the league. Time. Time. Time. Jordan and LeBron didn't come in dominating/winning fashion.

many of those turn overs either were dropped passes or lack of awareness from her teammates - no doubt she was targeted by the refs in defence and was let go on on offence - talk about a league that does nit understand its worth
