I LOVED this book! it was like reading about my own life's music memories. But the big takeaway about this amazing book is how totally humble Michael McDonald is. He gives credit to everyone who has contributed to his life, both musically and personally. What a talent! We're blessed to have Michael McDonald music and the music of the Doobie Brothers and Steely dan.
Everyone should watch the CBS news segment of the young girl who feel in love with his voice but thought he was a new artist and was so surprised to realize he is a senior citizen. The way he treated her will show you all that you need to realize how his character is commensurate with his talent.
It's nice to see these two friends who are legends in their own right. We've been privileged to see, hear such great music and nice comedy shows. Thanks 👍
Michael's voice has a uniquely warm quality. I've loved hearing his music, solo or collaborative, over the years. He also seems like such a nice, down to earth guy. Paul too. Paul is reliable when it comes to delivering a great performance. I may have to purchase a copy of this book.
I just finished the book “What A Fool Believes: A Memoir” and I just loved it! I laughed, I cried and found it a wonderful book. I listened to "Since I Lost My Baby" and never could hear the maid setting the ash tray down on the piano! Thanks for this great book!!
Terrible interview .. This is why i don't watch the Today show. Nothing is truly researched or prepared.. eg .. Tell us more about how you helped Donald Fagen
McDonald is an excellent vocalist, but he totally ruined the distinctive sound of the Doobie Brothers. "What a Fool Believes" is the worst of 70s drivel, in a time of great music.
Brush with greatness : Going to school at Cal Poly SLO I wanted to learn piano and could barely afford lessons @ $10 from a guy named Fletcher Peck who lived in Los Osos. Turns out he was teaching Michael a few years prior (I'd imagine he was being paid more :-) But Fletcher was mainly a jazz guy and tried to teach me how to improvise which is what I really wanted to learn. Two lessons (that was it) and 50 years later I still play and love it and recommend playing an instrument to everyone I can.

I like the way Michael describes what his voice is like now and how to best use it .
Yes! If only the hosts would not interrupt him while he's explaining things.
Everyone needs to see Rick Beato’s interview with McDonald
True.

I read the book. Now I know this artist better. Love his music!
He's so cool.
I hung out with Michael's cousin Tim back in the 80's we had a blast.
The only like “Today” will get from me. I have to say seeing Michael McDonald and Boz Scaggs was one one of the best musical experiences I’ve had.
PAUL REISER STILL IS NICE LOOKING 👍💖🤗

Exactly! All these "morning shows" are BS
