Love them or hate them, one thing stands out of these planes, they are freakin' LOUD! Louder than any other fighter I've heard.
You apparently have never listened to a Mirage at low level. I remember their noise levels and it was very loud.
@@artistjoh nothing beats a typhoon.
In my experience the loudest I’ve heard is a B1 taking off, followed by the F22 and then the F35 seems to come next
@@NathanCampbell1975 Ahhh, but does your experience extend back to the jets of the 1950's and 60's? The Mirage III was from that era and boy was it loud. However, this extends to other jets of the era, both military and commercial. A 707, for example, was way louder than modern jet airliners.
@@artistjoh yeah I’ve seen a Mirage fly but probably too young at the time to really get a sense of the noise. I’ve seen F15, F4, F104, B2, F117 and even 5 Hawker Hunters at once, EuroFighters, Rafael and without a doubt B1 was by far and away the loudest. Could even feel my bones vibrating. Yes agree 707s loud but think it was part then screeching pitch as much as absolute decibels.
The F-35 wasn't designed to be an air superiority fighter but I always thought it was hilarious that anyone would seriously believe that a fighter jet as modern as the F-35 is "couldn't turn" and "couldn't maneuver". As I type this, the F-35 is the newest, most modern, most advanced, most recently-designed fighter jet manufactured. There is no doubt in my mind that an F-35A is as quick and as maneuverable as a single engine stealth fighter without thrust vectoring can possibly be.
That was a great weekend! I think the low cloud base was great, made the aircraft look faster.
Brilliant footage
Ha came here from the last classic display that you must have watched just before this - wish I was there!
For a plane that supposedly can't turn that pull up maneuver 0:13 looked pretty damn good. I know its much better since the upgrade to 9G's.
Starting from F-35A Block 3F or higher.
When people said it could not turn it was still in development stages.. The f35 got its Final flight software in late 2019. Now people see it turning 9+g..
@@dwizzleusa4202 F-35's recent improvements are still being applied e.g. a US Marine Corps F-35B has undergone ‘laser shock treatment’ that hardens the plane without adding more metal or weight. This would otherwise limit the jet’s fuel or cargo capacity, reducing its performance.
@@dwizzleusa4202 Critics have forgotten early F-15A builds have degraded G loads.
They pulled the Safety Leash off these Birds of Prey. The F-35 can hunt 🦅
Damn that high alpha at 1:45
Yea first time i have watched that i was very shocked too and this 1:05 high alpha roll is pretty striking also. I change my point of view on the f35 after watching these.
"Can't turn, can't run, can't climb. It's a turkey." Pierre Sprey
Judging from the angle of the grandstand and the position of the Hornet, you were just to my left. :)
Great footage!
Thanks Johnathan. Pity it didn't come Saturday was in the grandstand and would have been able to get more plane and less of people's heads
That was a nice, twisty low level display by Australia. Relaxed pace compared to the hair-on-fire, screaming high-speed, vertical climbs/hard rudder turns you see F-35's do at other shows. Understated elegance.
I was there for this one.
At that point the display pilot was still fleshing out a full display for the f35. There were a few passes that werent shown like the bay doors open etc. Hes also since added a few new elements like the pedal turn and some min rad turns with a loaded roll at the end. A good mix.
I know these pilots are highly disciplined........but ya gotta know he/her was having a ton of fun!!
Great footage you’ve got there, well done and thanks for sharing it with us all
thanks Philip. Wasn't trying that hard it's on the New iPhone 13. So much better than my previous phone.
Wonderful
Spewing it didn’t fly on Saturday
makes it look easy.
Because it pretty much is. Most advanced fly-by-wire flight controls in the world.
This may surprise some people, but Fat Amy isn't really that fat!
I filmed a bunch of these at Huntington Beach last year. Incredible.

1:32 the seagulls are showing off
That jet was in after-burner most of the show. Most fighters would be out of fuel in half the time.
If I vish one eirplan very good 👌👌🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
I was listening to the Fighter pilot podcast and they had one of the test pilots for these. He said the F-35A with the bigger wings of the F35-C would make the best air force fighter. Said the design was made for the bigger wing and apparently they are considerably more maneuverable and faster with the bigger wing and it can carry more fuel. Of course that combo isn't available right now as they are flat out making the A variant, but he was so gushing over that combo, you would have to think a future version will feature the bigger navy wing on the land based versions.
FYI - That is not what was said on that podcast. The test pilot said that the F35 C was the most maneuverable of the three versions, and he was looking forward for an air display show with it. He did not mention any combo of the A and C version, neither did he say the C version could fly faster.
F-35A's wing area, empty weight, and engine thrust design target are based on a 1.5X scale from F-16C Block 50.
@@plkngtun F35C has a large wing area but its acceleration is less. High acceleration is important after executing an instantaneous turn.
@@valenrn8657 While I do not necessarily disagree with what you have written, I wonder why you tagged me? I wrote my response to Dan´s comment because I recently heard the podcast he was referring to, and Dan was referencing it quite poorly and, not to apply salt to wounds, objectively falsly. I have nothing against the F35, neither the C nor A model, but what Dan said was just not true according to what the test pilot said in the referenced podcast.
@@plkngtun At a given engine thrust, all fighter designs have compromises i.e. modify one area, and another area is changed.
Welcome to Finland F35A
I was there
if they do this at airshows in the states the critics say there striped out aircraft just for the shows well i don't think we can afford to do that with our airforce size so I hope the critics eat crow
"they" are referring ot low loads both in arms and fuel not ripping stuff out of the planes...
@@erikitter6773 sry Mate have read articles where they say the plane's have been altered with all non essential's removed
360degrees at 25 sek? Realy?
The f35 is maybe not the best rate fighter but it have monster AoA capabilities which we can see here.
How do these pilots use the bathroom when they're up in the air

If it is so good.......why is it an export?
Are you a fucking idiot? An export plane can still be a good plane, if anything they can often be better.
@@natedaninja3171 wow.... Aggro. What a nutcase.
It was primarily designed to be an export so it could benefit from economies of scale.
Right now, it's benefiting from the production technologies and innovations from foreign partners. All of this would be applied by the Americans to their future plane (NGAD), that just like the F-22, won't be exported.
The F-35 is so good, but some of its parts are not as good as the parts of the F-22 that are still being kept as a secret from foreign partners. Plane-wise, it is more advanced than the F-22.
The F-35 is going to be used as a common workhorse among allies in a 5th generational warfare environment where the 4th gen will either be too vulnerable or retired from service.
Dude both F16 and F18 were exported in large numbers as well and they were excellent fighters of their own time.
F35 might not have quite as advanced stealth features as F22 but like the other person said, its more advanced in other areas. Also USA wouldn't want to produce crap fighter for their allies let alone for themselves to use. Its very important for USA that their allied have great fighters in Europe.
F22 wasnt ever mass produced even in USA just alone how freaking expensive it was, though having superior fighter to US alone ofc also played part in that.F35 was supposed to be solution even partly to that so it would be a plane both US and its allies could afford
You don't export your best jet....hence why there was a ban on the export of the F22
Small angle of attack same as the F‐16 interm of manuverability....special features are only stealthty...
F-35A has a higher angle of attack (AoA) when compared to F-16s.
F-16's AoA limit is 25 degrees. It's out of control beyond 25 degrees AoA.
F-35A's AoA software limit is 50 degrees. Without software limits, F-35A can sustain 70 degrees AoA.
When is New Zealand buying something from the USA? Being in a defence alliance has to work both ways.
My recollection was that NZ decided it didn’t need fighters and wound down its fleet of A4 Skyhawks
NZ have PA28s. They don't need these. Australia looks after them and their woke PM.

It didnt fell down?! Wow.
About as Hi tech as a flaming arrow compared to these ufo's getting around
Deutschland sollte nicht so viel Geld ausgeben für Flüchtlinge sondern vielleicht mal für solche Waffen finde ich viel sinnvoller.
I looks like a flying brick
Sure it’s fast but F18 out flys it
Not on this planet.
maybe a clean F18 can oufly it but with external tanks, targetting pods and weapons loaded, the F18 is slow as hell
Hornets are my favourite but they stand no chance with combat loads attached
Sure. A Hornet, even an old one, can probably fly every day. This thing might fly a couple of times a week. So yes, the F/A-18 can outfly the F-35.
@@thethirdman225 here is the thing though: on the first day of combat a squadron of F35s - by themselves and quarterbacking other assets - can gain air supremacy over a defined battlefront like no other platform in history has been able to - the countless Red Flag exercises since about 2018 establish that beyond doubt: thereafter, fourth generation assets can maintain that advantage on a very cost effective ‘cheap and cheerful’ basis: especially when augmented by smaller numbers of F35s and autonomous ‘loyal wingman’ drones from time to time as required.
