He was my BEST friend at USC . Fraternity brother, hell raiser with me. A physical specimen ! OD went home on June 9th, 2013. He was 56 . I miss him every single day.
every now and then over the years i think about this nice man and come for a visit. one thing i'd never noticed until now is how awesome his hair is for his age. at every visit i am closer to death than my last visit. there's no cheating death, the greatest equalizer. we're all headed to where this man went.
May you rest in peace Kevin. You fought hard as it went on and we'll keep your effort as an ambition for us to find the truth behind what's causing such a illness.
You can see how much he loves his family by how he is hurting when he talks about them. Nothing more cruel than taking a healthy happy family man away from his family that he holds so dearly. My God, when he cries it makes me cry. I'm so sorry this happened. I'm sorry this disease even exists. I, myself, am dealing with something very similar and my doctors cant figure out what's the matter. It's very discouraging and scary.

He contributed enormously as to what this cruel illness does to an otherwise healthy man. The pain comes from the thoughts of his family and the time they wont spent together. He did his best with valor. RIP
This video series he made hurts me to watch him suffer, terrifies me that this could potentially happen to me, but most importantly motivates me. Currently in medical school, going into my final year and this reminds me of why I went into the field of medicine. Not only to diagnose and treat, but to keep up the field of research and to never quit, or lose my sense of wonder. We owe it to people like Kevin to keep that sense of curiosity and to search for answers to bigger things that have yet to have an answer or solution. R.I.P Kevin....
Hope Kevin is at peace ? ALS makes you more emotional at times with splutterings, laughing or crying. Bloody disease ! I hope they can find a cure.. I have had it for the last year with slightly different progression. Tick Tock down at a steady pace. I started with leg muscle twitchings 6/17 then not until 11/17 any physical signs. First R foot slowed then leg then legs and voice started slurring in Jan of 2018. Arms weak and struggle to wobble indoors now confined . It takes no prisoners for sure. Hey Ho TIANDB.. I am a Kevin also.. ( Is Autophagy the key ? ) Best luck all..
you have done such a great contribution by letting us know how the disease progress. I not sure but i think most ppl with ALS die during their sleep, not exactly a painful death. I think at that point you can also ask for morphine.
