    What a beautiful Firebird Formula! My first car was a 1980 Formula. I wish I still had it.

    Absolutely gorgeous car!.. I would love to have that...
    Once upon a time I had a 1970 bird, and added the same exact Sun tachometer to the column... We all did that back then ..lol

    This car is gorgeous. This is the hood Pontiac should have used for the Trans Am.

      That hood was designed for the Trans Am, but management ruined the plan. The creator loved the hood soo much that he pushed for it to be on the Formula. This design is much more functional than the Trans Am scoop, as proven in tests by Pontiac.

    The 1970-72 Formula Firebirds were the best. You could also get a 455 H.O. called a Formula 455. In 1973-74 if you were lucky you could get a 455 Super Duty in either a Trans Am or Formula. The yellow Formula in your video is beautiful and I
    love the ram air option on it as well.

    Base engine 400 engine in this car, I freezed on the sheet. So 330 HP for you asking. THere would have been an option on the sheet listed if it was upgraded to RAIII or IV. Still a fantastic car...plenty of torque there. Grew up with a friend had a 71 Formula 350 3 speed, Black w white stripes, It was a dog off the line but would get up at top end 135 or so and handled and braked amazingly! Really getting very hard to find these.

    So, the most important question is which 400? There were 3 available, the regular passenger car 400, the 366hp ram alr 3 or the beast ram air 4 rated at 370 hp. Of course, a ram air 4 makes this a 6 figure car. Instead of messing with a bunch of papers show us the beef!

    • @joequillun7790
      @joequillun7790 3 года назад +1

      I wuz curious about the motor too Greg. Was waiting for the walk down the passenger side fender, so we could see the center ports, and try an dissect the head code. But "no". slam the hood quickly.
      Oh, and by the way, I'm sure you know the RAIV in the F/B was rated at 345, rather than 370. Same motor as the Goat. The factory just stuck a restrictor on the secondary linkage, to cut the power down.
      Don't wanna "degrade" the Goat, anymore than it already had been. :)

    I had a chance to own a 1970 firebird formula 400 with all matching numbers and a balanced and blueprinted engine that flat out screamed ! My dad's friend wanted $3500 cash so I worked a 30 hour a week job and mowed grass and saved every nickel . Took me a few months and when I had the money and went to purchase it ........the guy backed out and said it was his first real car and he got it for a graduation present and just couldn't part with it ! This was in 1986 .......the car had 27,000 one owmer miles on it and was kept under a cover in a climate controlled warehouse ! The guy still owns that car but he's a multi millionaire now and no amount of money would be enough ! Damnit man !
