sunsoft is back! retro game selection #keymailer
Hey John, thank you for making a video about SUNSOFT is Back! Retro Game Selection! Just wanted to correct something that you said in the video. The compilation was developed (and published) by Red Art Games. Nami Tentou’s engine was used as the basis but we've added features (like rewind for example) and created the interface.
Hello. Romain
I purchased the game as well and tried them. Wow they are really difficult like it was back in the 80s. But they are really nice to play. Thanks for publishing them in the west
Vous êtes une société française c'est ça ?
@@othyeighty C'est bien ça ! Nous sommes français! The games are indeed very difficult but that why we've added the rewind and save states features!
Thanks for developing and publishing the compilation! Just got it today and the games are challenging and fun!
@@masternorg Thank you for playing!
Blaster Master and Batman are easily on my childhood top 10 NES list. Love me some Sunsoft. Can't wait to give these a try. Thank you for sharing this news of this collection! 😀
Blaster Master! that's the best Sunsoft game!
Agreed. Journey to silius really good as well
Let me add Batman The video game to you guys list. But I agree Blaster Master is my favorite NES game of all time.
Yes!!!
This feels more like stuff that should probably be on Switch Online. Sunsoft has re-released some of these before. Sunsoft Memorial Selection vol. 3 had 53 Stations of the Tokaido and Wing of Madoola, and neither really require english. They did 6 volumes on the PS1 that included games like Journey to Silius, Gimmick!, Ufouria, Ikki, Atlantis no Nazo, Super Arabian, Super Spy Hunter, etc.
For US releases, Sunsoft’s NES games had the absolute best music- both in overall composition and sound!
We all know the Famicom games that got those awesome extra sound chips, but Sunsoft games worked some black magic with those tunes.
Gremlins 2 and Batman are top tier soundtracks and punch above their weight.
SunSoft we love you, nes we love you.
Sunsoft is iconic in the retro game scene so its cool to see more from them!
For Sunsoft, truly, it was the best of times, it was the worst of times: they crucially need collaborators with the romhacking skills to revise their old ROMs without access to the source code.
If you like Sunsoft there’s compilation cartridges for the Evercade that got a decent amount of games for about 20$
That last game you played looks like a precursor to Blaster Master, it even shares sound effects.
Taking it back with John Riggs Sunsoft time
An eclectic old-skool selection!
Nice video! Very excited to see Sunsoft putting games out again. Ufouria 2 was a great time!
Wow SUNSOFT, haven't heard that name in years
Finally, a CRT/Scanline filter that looks pretty good. There's other stuff I like too, but usually, the TV type filters look too overdone IMO and break the immersion. This one seems about right.
These games are a little underwhelming but its nice to see sunsoft is still alive.
I played 53 Stations of the Tokaido last year, because it's featured in one of my favorite Game Center CX episodes. It took awhile to learn the game, but eventually I got really good at the game. Two key points are learning where the coins are, and learning the timing when the enemies spawn. So killing enemies the second they spawn will get you far. The speed at which you're moving affects the momentum of your fireworks; it takes awhile to get the hang of it. Collecting 10 coins will spawn a warp zone that either puts you 3 or 6 levels ahead. The game isn't 52 levels BTW, it's 21. The 2nd to last level is pretty brutal. At first I beat the game with warps, but that felt cheap so I got good enough to complete the game without warping. At 2 points in the game you need 2 coins to spawn a stepping stone to cross the water, and if you don't have coins you'll have to die to collect more.
My fans voted the Famicom to be the next type of game I play on my channel
nice all 2 fans are great
I dont know about the other two but that 3rd game looked like a Doozie 🙏🏽
The Ripple Island probably didn't come here because it's text heavy. The last one is awesome it reminds me of Faxanadu. I'm happy that they've finally came here. But question:Are these coming out on cart form? Switch? NES? Anyway thanks for the heads up John!👉🏼🙂👈
Not fireworks, but one of the greatest phone games i ever played was called "weapons throwing rpg." Anime styled and seriously great for a free game. I guess there's something satisfying about defeating enemies with projectiled
Still find it funny these have been available on emulators for over 2 decades(and released ~35 years ago) but companies still expect people to pay money for them.
Really happy that our emulator is powering it! :)
Japanese Famicom games are definitely a strange breed indeed
Wanna see Sunman make a triumphant return!!
John, you're thinking of the bad mainstream comic book Artist, Peach Momoko.
Kinda impressed they have a fully translated text adventure included among the other games for just 10 bucks, but I will definitely get it for that price. Even if it's mostly for the sake of aupporting retro re-releases, since Wings of Madoola seems to be the one game here that's closest to my idea of fun (The firework thrower game seems functional more than fun and the adventure game could be good but also feels like it could be VERY obtuse).
The title music is really good, very Sunsofty if thats a thing :)
I was thinking about buying Sunsoft Is Back and Shakedown Hawaii while they are both on sale.
Love these old games. Hate the rewind feature in these remakes though.
Our world is a better place with Sunsoft in it!
I have these on PlayStation the sun soft collection from Japan still buying these on switch when it comes out
What is your favorite rpg, John? Charismatic person you are!
I'd give $69 for a 1:1 modern pixel art remaster of Blaster Master, and Journey to Silius
Awesome. I support new NES games.
Tōkaidō Gojūsan-tsugi was released in 1986, more of a fan of black box era graphics
Ni is two. The keyword for level two is, ni. 😂
That is nuts!
GDit John I just went and bought this bot realizing it doesn't release for another 2 days
I love this guy. ❤
We need that on Evercade
Riggs Rocks!!
Long live Nintendo Entertainment System games!!!!!
Very interesting.
Will they be producing NES cart versions?
That'd be awesome.
Did you stop doing the Konami Challegne?
I'll never stop!
Peach girl reference. Lol
Confused, are these on Pc?
This seems like an odd release.
Here's hoping they do one with Taito or something, too.
Cool 😎
10 bucks for 3 old games? Seems like a waste they should have put more games in the collection and said it INCLUDES 3 never before released games in the US.
Games seem to be fun, but why they choose to do this over a Batman collection is beyond me…
👍
heyy^^
game child? virtual child?? that pc nonsens is everywhere.
I don’t think it’s a PC thing, it’s just one of those gimmicks to where they can’t reference a product that is own by another company or something like that. In this case they referenced a bootleg handheld called “Game Child” instead of Gameboy despite both Switch and Gameboy being owned by Nintendo.
Maybe your right, but it is not that unrealistic nowadays that it could be a PC thing. But in that case i think your answer is probably the right one.
You use the rewind feature? Pathetic! Anybody who uses rewind can never call themselves a true crybaby who complains about people enjoying games the way they want!
👍👍™️
Horrible selection of games
