    Finished up the Iron Claw recently, having grown up on the Attitude era as a 90s baby. I can’t believe I didn’t know about the Von Erichs!
    Kevin is the epitome of an incredible human. He’s been through hell and back, came out the other side, with love in his heart. An incredible man.
    Eric - I just wanted to thank you for doing this interview and praise you on your passion and respect towards Kevin. You asked great questions, never interrupted and you could tell he had a lot of respect for you.
    Kudos my man!
    Cheers

    Here from London, England, after watching the movie. Such a Sad story...but Glad that Kevin has had the chance to change the family cycle and raise a family having learned the lessons of how to be a good, loving and empowering father. ❤❤ Ashame your Dad wasn't portrait in a good light, feels like a liberal attack on the Patriarchal male.

    I saw the movie and was never into wrestling, but was OBSESSED with learning about the Von Erich’s ever since. Watching all the matches I see real wrestling compared to some of the cartoonish wrestling today. I would absolutely read Kevin’s book!

    I would love to read an autobiography written by Kevin Von Erich. I enjoyed the Missy Hyatt interview you had, but this was tremendous! Thank you. I especially like that you encouraged him to talk about his father and the importance of instilling discipline in one's children. There's a trend in our culture to throw out all the old ways (despite being proven to work and work well) and basically they're trying to re-invent the wheel, but I believe that if it ain't broke, you don't try to fix it. Parenting was not broken. It wasn't! But now it is. Now it actually does need to be fixed. Kevin describes how it's supposed to be.

    Getting 2 tattoos in honor of Kevin Von Erich's story!!! As mentioned in the interview, I imagine there has been a lot of new traction towards the family and their history in result of The Iron Claw movie, old comers and new comers (including myself). When the movie came out in December, I knew absolutely nothing about wrestling or the family itself. I went into it with blinders and came out with both an open eye and an open mind. Now I have a newfound respect and understanding of the subjects.
    After watching the movie, I spent the last 3 months in a rabbithole of footage and interviews regarding their story. I was just SO inspired by the story and resonated with the idea of loss and perseverance. I remember watching an interview where Kevin said that tragedy/grief doesn't necessarily get any easier, you just get used to it. I'm not gonna get too much into my own story but I grew up dealing with so much loss of friends and family that it became numb to me. I lived a majority of my life with a negative mindset and had countless thoughts of suicide myself. During the time of the movie's release, I would say that the last 3 months were the toughest moments of my life. At some point, things turned around and it was all because I kept repeating to myself what Kevin said in regards to Fritz pointing a gun at him, "It takes guts to live, not guts to die." From that point forward, I've never been more happy in my life going forward with a more positive mindset in my life. The magnitude of the story just impacted and resonated with me so much that I wanted to do him the honor of getting The Iron Claw and that quote done on my arm. I've been sharing Kevin' story with fellow friends and family and will continue to do so! Much love

    Kevin, bless his heart, has gone through a lot. But, let's keep it real - he's at times been reluctant to admit what everybody know - the boys loved drugs (it wasn't always milk, pie and giving 110%). Bill Mercer is on record saying that after the Kerry's death, Kevin asked Bill if it was okay to hate your father. Fritz, I am sure, like all of us, had good characteristics and bad. Fritz overworked them and didn't use good ol' fashion discipline when the boy were drowning in money and fame. As a matter of fact, he turned his eyes away as the boys hauled in the money. Kevin gets all my respect, but he has a tendency to revise history.
    And, after Mike's toxic shock, Mike had no business being back in the ring. That was sick.

    • @UnleashedChannel
      @UnleashedChannel  6 месяцев назад +1

      Did you listen to the interview before commenting? Because that is absolutely what he talks about in here about his brothers drug use. You can’t watch a few interviews and think you know what goes on behind closed doors. Kevin‘s very open about the good bad and the ugly. I loved my dad to pieces, but there were times I didn’t even want to look at him either. Isn’t that true for all families? There are people that tried to revise history unfortunately, most of the times it’s wrestling fans. This was real life for him.

      Go back and watch his interviews from the late 1990s and early 2000s. He was very intent on continuing the Von Erich milk and cookies kayfabe. I don’t think he has ever admitted to his own drug use although everybody else has.

      @@StDiddy1975 Kevin lost five of his brothers, both of his parents, David lost a child, and there’s other parts of Kevin‘s story that nobody knows. I’ve been very close with his family lately and hopefully one day people get the whole entire story. There is a lot of trauma and pain to unpack with that story. Kevin is an open book and I believe one day people will get the whole story. Actually sooner than later. It’s crazy how meticulous and critical wrestling fans can be of these guys giving these interviews. Kevin has done live shows and given multiple opportunities for the audience to ask him whatever they want. I respect the hell out of the guy. There is a lot more to this story than what you’ve seen in interviews. I promise you.

    Kevin said he's gonna come out with a book and the real movie? If it takes years? I'm there, if I'm still around. The same guy should play Fritz in the real version. That performance as Fritz was scary in how much he looked and sounded like Fritz.

    • @UnleashedChannel

    I genuinely feel terrible for kevin after that movie. To see something like that that really happened to him and for it to be such a bald faced lie is such an evil hollyweird move. People said the same thing about winning time even though it was good cinema. The truth is whats important and all these people wanna do is lie. We call wrestling fake but hollywood is full of the true imposters

    Your brothers all gone to suicide Has to be a very haunting experience, and I wonder whether it was the lifestyle of a wrestler or something about the way they were brought up or maybe a combination of drugs, fame, steroids, whatever that drove them all to suicide, but when Kerry committed suicide, it was unbelievable to me that he would kill himself over a cocaine charge that wasn’t really going to hurt him in the long run it was just another pitfall. He had suffered in a short period of time with losing his foot and drug charges and everything, but really in the long run, but wasn’t gonna affect his life so to kill himself over a spur the moment situation is insane. Kerry worked Hard on building a beautiful body then Put a gun to his chest and blow it away and you decide to kill himself on a spur the moment It was just a curse from the get-go, but they got Kevin still here and can tell us a story.

    • @RemoWilliams1227
      @RemoWilliams1227 6 месяцев назад

      I agree with you but I have an idea where Kerry's head was at. It was about shame and disgracing the family far more than the severity of the charges themselves I think.
