    Owen Power has the best outlet pass in the entire NHL. Any defenseman that can clip 80% (highest in the NHL) on outlet passes is an elite puck handler. Might wanna watch the guy play once and while cuz this is hard to take serious. Owen Power is a f’ing stud and hasn’t come close to his ceiling.

    Owen Power is 21yo. Within 2 to 3 years Power will be playing at another level. Locking in Power now will save the Sabres $4mil or more on a long term deal. The Sabres will have a new HC to help in his development.

      @chadcousins2563
      Owen Power is young. Dahlin took over 3 years to get to where he is now. A coach can help with a player's development (many ex NHL players have their own development companies). If you wait till a young player fully develops his long term extension will cost you a lot more (see Dahlin as a example).

    • @chadcousins2563
      @chadcousins2563 Месяц назад

      @jasoncrandall73 But they don't even have a coach, so you don't know who it will be or even if that coach will be able to "Do wonders". You say that out of hope that it happens because nothing is guaranteed in Buffalo. Handing out a 7 year deal to a kid after one NHL season that wasn't even remotely exceptional is just stupid unless that player is McDavid.

    Sabres fan here: Hedman, Chara and Pronger all were nothing at all until year 5, Power is in year 2 and we all know players seem to always have a second year slump. Power has been a plus player playing 22 minutes, I have no issues with his game. Remember, Buffalo has terrible coaching and it’s a good sign he’s playing well with bad coaches. Come back in year 4-5 and then Judge a young D man. The only thing I wish power would change is I wish he was more physical in front of the net using his big body to push guys out of the way of the goalie. That’s my only complaint with him at all. Most big players are not tough, Chara and Pronger are super rare to get a D man that huge and so nasty.

    First let me say I have been a sabres fan for almost 30 years. I also live in and grew up in idaho. Something about their play style back in the day especially with Peca really brought me in. With that said I love the call out. If it was at the beginning of the season I probably would have said different, but now is great timing. Power is a stud, yes there is a lot of room for improvement but still a top 4 on any team. Love his offense, would like to see more, especially in the shots category. He has a deadly shot when he has the confidence to rip one. He physicality definitely needs to be brought up to nhl standards though. I do believe this is a lot to do the coaching and style play. Buff right now isn’t a physical team, they are speed/skill based. But that can’t always win, especially against a team like Florida or Boston. For next season I’d love to see powers with Johnson or Samuelson on second line with him being a heavy offensive D and 30-40% more physical. Either of those two paired with him will be a great safety net and his play would help drive that second or fourth line. Dahlin and byram on 1st can be electric especially if buff can create a more cohesive 1st line through consistency(not always changing lines) and creating a more dynamic offense strategy like last year. To reiterate, power is good, he can be great. The call out was perfect. Hope he takes it as an opportunity to grow into what we all hope he can be as a truly great power D

    It's just Power's second full season. He was drafted first overall but he is also a defenseman, and defensemen usually take longer to develop regardless of where they are drafted. Power needs to hit the weight room this summer to better be able to handle larger, more physical forwards, but he'll never be a d-man that puts guys through the boards.

    He absolutely shoud be called out on his lack of physical play. I've noticed (not just him) but the Sabres could have stopped in its tracks, so much offensive zone (for the other team) time just by playing the body. Most of the time I see one offensive guy go in and still maintain the puck along the boards with players like Power (and I will call out Mittelstadt for this as he has done it every game) when all it would take is a push of the player off or away from the puck and your teammates could handily control and exit the zone. I see this every game, and yet fans boo the goalie for not making the save when the whole play could have been prevented.

  • @toddandterry1011
    @toddandterry1011 24 дня назад

    Power will become more physical as he gains maturity. The point production will always be there. His 8 million dollar contract will look great in 2-3 years and going forward. Guy can move the puck very very well. Remember the cap is expected to go up 10 over the next 4 years I think it is.

    I thought D men took a while to come into their own, yes? Owen is barely old enough to buy a freakin' beer, so BACK OFF haters. Soon folks will be saying "it isn't fair the Sabres ended up with all that talent on defense."
    Samuelsson is a big stay at home Fella and when he's on the ice, the Sabres usually win. Add Dahlin, Byram, and Power and ya got a helluva top 4.

    Even a 5M bridge deal would have been too much paid for what OP showed so far.

    Hate to break it to you, but Seider is not even close to Dahlin, and Power is second to Dahlin so…

    He's soft. I don't think you can learn to be physical. You either have a physical want to hit ppl or you dont
