You guys realize that this whole album was about Ryan Keys wife's paralysis in a snowboarding accident. That's the whole basis of this album. It's about that experience. It's beautiful to me. Another chapter in my life.

The opening verse is probably some of the sweetest most heartfelt lyrics I have heard from Yellowcard.

Well it looks like someone's not able to disagree maturely. And also Ryan Key loves Coldplay, so I'm pretty sure he wants their influence on the band's music.
Andrew Almond If you look at the Spotify list he compiled from songs that inspired Lift A Sail, Coldplay is there. :) Coldplay's Parachutes was amazing, but after that they just sold out and made music that was popular, not music they wanted to make themselves. I really lost all faith in them after Viva la Vida, which didn't sound lile Coldplay at all. I really dig this new Yellowcard song, it's the old Coldplay combined with the new Yellowcard. :D
Hey guys, I'm a huge french fan of Yellowcard since many years and I would like to say one thing about this single. I understand peoples who are worried about the next record after hearing this song. In my opinion, this "pop-song" is only ONE song among 13, and it's a choice in order to boost the record's sales. Don't you think ? Remember you with 'Here I Am Alive". It was just one pop song, a single, and the others songs was very amazing. Since Yellowcard exist, they always do there own music and they never disapoint me. So, don't worry everybody :) !

I've been a Yellowcard fan for ten years now. I must say that i have never been disappointed with anything they have came out with. Sure they have had some misses but, regardless i love what they do and how they do it. I dont think I'll ever stop loving them. This is a sweet song towards Ryan's wife and how much he loves her..... So romantic..

This is a song like that. If you noticed a pattern in their album. They have usually either one song border lining punk pop, and one punk alternative. It's one song. Let the album come out. Transmission home is super awesome and make me so sounds a bit like here i am alive.
Regardless to say i have been a dying hard fan since 2003 and will stay one for life. This band and their efforts regardless of all the changes is something I really appreciate. These guys are heroes. Their lyrics are gold. I have seen them live many times and flew out to see them. The reason for my dedication is their dedication. I get its a bit different but you all need to understand the older songs are still out there. Give something new a try. They said their album is different. Keep an open mind.

To people who are scared about the rest of this record. The band did mention that is album will not be punk but will rather be anthem,ballad-like rock. The rest of this record is great! Trust me, Yellowcard may have done something different for one song or the whole album, but it's still a rock album you can jam to like in every other YC album! This album will sell Yellowcard millions of records with the diversity of sound and style. I've been a YC fan for 11 years and this new record does not disappoint!

Such a well written song. Very impressed with Yellowcard and how they changed their style. Love the other stuff as well but for them to take such a risk as this and step out of the box shows confidence and they are doing a good job of keeping composure.

I'm gonna be honest, i'm a massive massive Yellowcard fan. However, the three songs I have listened to just don't give me the same feeling as their previous albums. I completely understand that they are only three songs out of a whole album but still can't shake the feeling disappointment or help but wonder what happened to the "punk" side of these songs. On a more positive note, I still can't wait to hear the rest of their album, and I respect them trying a new sound much like with lights and sounds!
Well even if i prefer more the older punk rock songs this song its really nice to me also!! I hope the other songs from this album will be more punk rock!!

Damn I love me some yellowcard.
I've commented on this video like twice already lol but i seriously can't stand people who complain about everything. If you're an old school Yellowcard fan, then fucking go listen to Ocean Avenue and One For the Kids or something and quit bitching. Seriously like apparently we live in a world where once a band changes their style a bit and they try something new FOR their fans, its apparently a fucking sin or some shit. Don't get me wrong i loved their older albums, Ocean Avenue, Lights and Sounds, Paper Walls etc were AMAZING ALBUMS! So was their newer records like WYTTSY and Southern Air. These bands do so much for their fans and they come back to the same places to play for their fans. And then they look at the feedback and they hear "What happened to you guys?" or "This isn't the same Yellowcard" ----> OF COURSE NOT!!! THATS WHY THEY WANTED TO TRY SOMETHING NEW! OF COURSE THEY ARENT THE SAME! YOU CAN'T SURVIVE IN THE MUSIC INDUSTRY WITHOUT TAKING A RISK EVERY NOW AND THEN! SOOOOO.....My point is (to put it nicely....) Maybe appreciate all the things you get from these bands. Because they wont be around forever and you should at least give them credit for busting their asses to make new music for their fans. Basically what im saying....(In my own way) SHUT THE FUCK UP AND ENJOY IT! Have a great day. Keep it up Yellowcard! See you at the end of October!!!

really worried about this record now after hearing this. Theres a lot of potential in this song, but it sounds like a coldplay version of sing for me.

Yea I agree, but they could have done so much more with the chorus and the very end. the lyrics are quite easy as well, not as poetic and personal as they usually are. Would you not agree?
I mean they could be, but to me that's not especially the point. I'm just thinking about the album process and how hard YC works on their material, and I have a hard time critiquing it because I just find it insulting to critique somebody after they've put their heart into something. I prefer to focus on the positives and look past shortcomings and appreciate their work as it is.
Don't get me wrong, I love Yellowcard, I love the fact that they are actual musicians, and work really hard on the music they write, when there are other musicians writing absolute gross!! But after Southern Air, I was expecting a bit better from this song, that's just my opinion. But I wish all the success to them, they really deserve it.
I think a really true YC's fan misses The Ocean Avenue's style. What an album!

I really like this song, not sure what everyone is complaining about. Doesnt sound far off from a sing for me type song. Not sure why their lead single is a ballad though but the rest of the album won't be like this. But even if it was yellowcard never lets me down.

For real, though, I actually really like this song. Yeah, it's not as violin-centric as I'd like, but it's a pretty solid song. Besides that, this is still better than "Here I Am Alive", so we should be thankful for that.

i'm a huge yellowcard fan but can't say I liked this one too much. I'm sure the new album will deliver some good songs because every one of their albums has good stuff. It's a shame they lost LP and are using electronic drums. Hopefully it's only for this song and they don't get too carried away.
